Nuffnang Blog Awards, Here I Come

Apparently, Nuffnang just announced their 2nd Bi-Annual Asia-Pacific Blog Awards.

If you’re not in the blogging scene, you probably won’t care about this as much.

For the rest of us active in the blogging or Twittering scene, like myself, it is the only time of the year we get recognized for the time and effort we put into our hobby.

This was taken from 2 years ago, when my double chin still have a permanent residency on my face.

Singers get recognized at the Grammy Awards, actors get recognized at the Academy awards. Bloggers get recognized at the Nuffnang Blog Awards.

On the 16 December, it is expected that close to 500 bloggers from all across the Asia Pacific region will be flying into to KL for the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards at the Putrajaya Marriott Hotel.

Sponsored by Volkswagen Malaysia and Putrajaya Marriott, not only does the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards honour the region’s best bloggers, but also bring together blogger communities from across Asia Pacific.

We’re talking Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Australia, China, Japan – the whole gamut. All the who’s who of blogging and all the up-and-coming stars will be there.

Of course, I wanna be there not just for the glitz and glamour, and not just for the fact that I haven’t attended a single social event from the blogging fraternity since many years ago, but also for the fact that 2 years ago at the inaugural Awards in Singapore, I was nominated in like 3 categories, but then all the trophies kena sapu-ed by Xiaxue.

I’m pretty sure this time round there’s a ruling saying you cannot win the same award twice in a row, so I’m glad at least I don’t have to go against such a stiff competition! 🙂

If you are a blogger on Twitter-er, this is an event you do not want to miss. In fact, invites to the Nuffnang Blog Awards is so exclusive that they are not even available for sale. The only way to get them, is by clicking on this link right here.

If you are not active on the blogging scene, well – I guess you can always nominated me for one of the following categories.

I’m not sure which one of the above categories kennysia.com fits. There does not seem to be a Best Last-Time-Used-To-Update-A-Lot-But-Now-It’s-Updated-Once-In-A-While Blog. Based on my past few entries, I suppose I can qualify for Travel Blog?

Let’s see how I go this time round. 🙂 I know I can’t wait for 16 December.

  1. You have come a long way Kenny. Got busy and stop reading your blog for a while. Came back for some update today and you are still as good. Keep up the good work and good luck for the award! =)

  2. Win an award? You must be joking – how often have you been blogging and the quality of your blogs these days? Well your excuse is you need to manage your exercise business, which is understandable since you need to make a living. But to have the cake and eat it is not possible; so now you also want to win an award for your lacklustre blog? Be focus, boy.

  3. Kenny,
I was a big fan of yours but I guess you have lost me as it can be seen that the sense of passion and creativity is already lost in your blogs.
You blog is hardly updated much less anything to read anymore for the last 18 months or so.
If you do win any award, those judges are real shit and do not deserve any respect from me. As a matter of fact, at the rate you are going, your advertisers would desert you.
Probably the most deserving award you ought to get is the least improved blog ever or the fastest dwindling in popularity blog.

  4. Hi Kenny, I’ve been following your blog for a couple of years now.
I must point out that the quality of your posts is still there, but the frequency has dropped dramatically:
    2009 – 10 posts a month on average
    2010 – 8 posts a month on average
2011 – ~3.5 posts a month on average (up till November)
It will be relatively challenging to partake based on this years posts alone, and while the quality and thought-provoking posts are there and a joy to read, the amount of material with which to be judged is significantly less then the prevailing years.
Truth be told, this currently feels like a natural progression out of the blogosphere into your passion for fitness, which is a natural and normal progression for a good many people.
Having said that, I do wish you the best and you have always had a way with posts that resonate with your target audience, whether good or bad 🙂
    Cheers.

  5. Kenny,
I am definitely not an ass licker, I have been your reader for the past 5 years and I have to say I almost go to your blog daily and just check whether there are any updates, but as time passes by, it’s become more obvious that not only the quality of the blog has deteriorated, but it’s become more and more commercialized where you always implement subliminal message in your post, even when you insist it’s not an advetorial.
Just recall back how many times you put “my favourite beer – Guinness Stout”. I assume they are paying you to promote their brand, but don’t you think staying true to yourself is important too?
I know, you are busy with your life, being an entrepreneur. That’s really good of you. But why not, come out clear, and tell the people you have shifted your focus and I am sure people will understand.
Nuffnang Award? What were you thinking? You can’t have the best of both world. You want to start up your business venture and yet at the same time enjoy the benefits of being a famous blogger? Well, think again.

  6. i think most of your readers nowadays are like me, still checking on this blog once in a while despite knowing that you dont blog that often anymore. we’re still your avid fan deep down:)

  7. He’s already acknowledged the fact that he doesn’t blog as often anymore. Since when was it a crime to wish to win an award? People can be so ungrateful, bloggers don’t owe it to their readers to blog. It’s not like any of you are paying him to.

  8. Well, think again. It’s a win win situation, the readers are entertained and that generates traffic. Traffic brings ads and ads bring monehhhh!

  9. well, i wanted to nominate you for travel blog since the award nomination is open but someone already voted for you in that category.. just like the person who nominated you before me.. I am still a big supporter. I joined the contest hoping to win the invites mainly to see you. haha. #true story. it is the main reason to y i wanna go, in my blog entry that i submmited. =)

  10. Your blog has deteriorated quality & quantity wise. In fact I have taken you off my favourite list but I’ll still check in once a while.

  11. i dont think u qualify any blog awards this time cause ur blog is getting very boring adn is not updated frequently. u used to be so good and always have those saucy infos and pictorial. now the way u handle ur blog is so dissapointing.

  12. Kenny,
Since you are so rich, for goodness sake, please get a properly tailored Tuxedo. You must have rented one of perhaps even tailored but by some tailor in Kuching? You look awful in that tuxedo because the tux didn’t fit you- you want to fit yourself into it.
