4 years ago, Eddie from Los Angeles challenged me to run my first marathon.
I took up the challenge, ran the 42km and almost DIED. After crossing the finishing line, I swore I was never gonna run another marathon race again.
Eddie congratulated me. He said perhaps one day, I would fly to L.A. and join him for the L.A. Marathon. He even gave me a shirt that says "L.A. Marathon In Training".
I laughed it off, thinking no chance in hell would I fly all the way to Los Angeles just to run a marathon. Back then, I did not even have the budget to do so.
Fast forward to 2010.
Here I am today in Los Angeles, fulfilling a gentleman's promise I made 4 years ago.
It is the first time I have signed up for a marathon outside Malaysia or Singapore. I have worked really hard for this. The past 3 months, I have been juggling between writing for this blog, running my business and training for this marathon.
And in 1 hour's time I'll be running my race. I cannot wait.
25,000 people from all over the world has taken part in this race. "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson will be cheering from the side. Shia LeBouf (from Transformers), Sean Astin (from Lord of the Rings), Gordon Ramsey (the foul-mouthed chef) will all be running alongside me.
Wish me luck!
