Die Die Both Ways

This entry is getting too long but its 4am now and I need my sleep, so I just snipped it in half. I’ll post up Part 1 today and Part 2 tomorrow. Keep in mind that I’m on semi-hiatus now and I’m not gonna put a lot of effort on my entries till my project is over. There won’t be much lameass jokes or photoshopped pictures to spice up kennysia.com so apologies in advance.
Until then, please bear with me. 🙂
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
There’s been a commotion going on in the blogosphere lately involving some of my friends.
It all started when F (a Malaysian living in Singapore) posted a harsh-but-true entry on why she thinks Singapore is a better country to live in compared to Malaysia. Around the same time, X (a Singaporean living in Singapore) posted an entry after her unpleasant trip to Kuala Lumpur. This in turn resulted in a barrage of equally harsh counterattacks on both F and X by some irate KL residents, including M (a Malaysian living in Malaysia), V (a Malaysian living in the UK) and S (a UK tiger living in Malaysia).
Coincidentally, a few days later, two of the above people had their period. While all these is happening, I (a Malaysian with an Australian permanent residency living in Malaysia who likes Singapore but wants to live in Perth until he’s ready to settle down in Kuching when he’s older) wisely chose not say anything because when it was so close to National Day tensions ran high. And besides, hell hath no fury like female bloggers with PMS.
As a result, a lot of people were left wondering which side of the fence I’m sitting on. For the record, I’d spoken to X before she posted that entry and I know what exactly she’s trying to say. I’m not offended. I know for a fact she means no malice, though I have to admit the way she wrote it left the door wide open for misintepretation. But when M, V, S and many others took that piece of misinterpreted information as an insult to the city they resided in, I don’t know whose side it is to blame.
And frankly, I don’t care anymore because this whole thing is degenerating into a kindergarten mudslinging match quicker than I can say “Stop fighting, children!”
Attempts on my part at trying to reconcile the two usually resulted in inspirational conversations like this over MSN.
(note: not actual conversations and words are grossly exagerrated.)
M: your friend X is a bitch.
K: oh come on. she was just writing about her trip.
M: how can you say that? don’t tell me you weren’t offended by what she wrote!
K: i’m not. it’s a fact she was molested, she got cheated and she had an overall bad experience.
M: well YOU TELL HER there are other ways to approach the situation than to ridicule the whole of KL. she could have written in a more polite manner than to dish out insults against the whole KL! do u think that’s ok? i live in KL and i’m offended!
K: but but but…!
Later in the day.
X: your friend S is dumb.
K: I think if you changed the title of that entry from “KL pretty much sucked” to “My KL trip pretty much sucked” you could’ve saved yourself from a lotta trouble.
X: that is not the point Kenny! I did not even insult the WHOLE of Malaysia! I merely said the KL people I SAW were rude and these ppl took it so personally when they attacked me like i murdered their mothers! your friend M even called me a dog. do u think that’s ok? screw u kenny, i am so disappointed in you.
K: but but but…!
In Chinese, we call this situation “die die both ways.”

Can’t. Update. Must. Work. Overtime.
kennysia.com will be on semi-hiatus for the entire month of September. Updates will be a lot less frequent than usual because I don’t usually have much time in between getting home from work at freaking 3am, sleeping, and waking up for work the next morning at 8:30am.
My life (and this blog) will be back to normal by the time October comes around. Hopefully.

177 Replies to “Die Die Both Ways”

  1. it wouldnt be that bad had she, xx titled her entry as “kl TRIP sux”… the keyword is TRIP instead on just kl sux… the meaning of both is so much different.

  2. I agree on changing the title to include “KL Trip” rather than just “KL”.
    The way she worded her entries, she probably sort of like asked to be “slaughtered” liao.
    Imagine if I feel that my trip to singapore sucks bcos I bumped into a few singaporeans who were so rude, had some meals there that tasted worse than dog food, encountered a bitchy salesgirl blah blah blah. Then I go on to write about how the whole singapore sucks…
    Hmm…. I would imagine I would get shot down by singaporeans and even some malaysians pretty badly too.
    I guess one should choose his/her words…wisely =)

  3. haha, poor you. I guess yeah, the way X wrote it could have been a little less harsh on Malaysians. I’m a Malaysian and I hear alot of complaints about Malaysia from Singaporeans. I think X’s issue was not that bad though.
    I once visited a Singaporean boy’s blog, dissident1 or something and boy did that have ALOT of nonsensical insults about Malaysia.

  4. It wasnt her attack on KL but her racist remarks, Malay fucker, ti-ko (pig brother-definitely racist) hitting a malay with a pig , ridiculing Arab women in their costume) She’s not as innocent as she pretended to be. When she got her foot in her mouth she runs for support and claims innocence. Changing her post is definitely a cowards way of handling the situation.

  5. I agree with fed-up above. Normal criticism is ok lah, but why must insult Malays and Arab women? That “hitting Malay with a pig” sentiment cannot be justified no matter how you look at it.

  6. Kenny, stay out of this.
    To the “alphabets” above, all I can say is :
    “It’s your freakin blog, you can write whatever you want, but don’t freakin expect everyone to agree with you… and most importantly, don’t freakin drag other people into agreeing with you!”
    Freakin grow up ~

  7. suprisingly, on the virtual world, a lot of people are patriotic about their country. talk is cheap. if you are indeed so patriotic, why is our semangat kenegaraan is decreasing these days compared to the 70s.
    even preschool kids with different background and race can get along, laugh at each other. why can’t we?

  8. Xiaxue should get some perspective. There are bad things happening all over the world and she just comes across as a whiny ignorant tourist. Everytime she says something stupid (which is almost all the time), you have to come in charging like a knight to defend her. If she’s willing to start battles but doesn’t know how to fight for herself, why should you do it for her. Honestly, she’s dragging you down Kenny. You are capable of much more.

  9. hahahahahahaaaaahahahah!!!! Totally agree… I understand where X is coming from but perhaps she should change the way she words certain issues. As for the rest, they are taking it too personally. I think I rather keep my views to myself to avoid such confrontations. =X haaa!! Rest & Relax, people!
    When I’m in Perth, I love it but miss SG. When I’m in SG, I love it but miss Perth. Such contradictions…

  10. I think what is pathetic is women using pms as an excuse to behave badly! Come on, look at what you typed, kenny, “And besides, hell hath no fury like female bloggers with PMS”. Why should that be an excuse for anything? I am a woman and I dont use PMS as an excuse to rant.

  11. we are after all a country that practices double standards. hypocrisy, selfishness and pure spirit of kiasu (Or izzit Si Ai Bin?) is what identifies our “unique” citizens. Talk is cheap i agree, or else I won’t be posting in anynomously 🙂
    If things go just right, we might just have politicians commenting on the “Malaysia vs Singapore” contreversy. From here it’s left to the imagination. Stay on the sidelines kenny!!

  12. kenny, best float above the fence. you can’t win and nobody expect you to be peacemaker.
    why not go benchpress 400pound and release seratonin by the litre !!

  13. my trip to kl was fucked up also, immigration at johor was a nightmare even though all my travel documents were in order, fine i went through it, the bus ride was a nightmare, reaching kl was another nightmare being fleeced by those touts at pudu and other things as well. KL the city itself is beautiful but i think SOME of the people there need attitude change and its about time malaysia started teaching english in schools 🙂 no mallice intended :p

  14. poor kenny.. poor poor poor kenny..
    hey, but look at the bright side, who knows someday your wife not getting along well with your mum.. worse, rite? 😛

  15. If it’s about this topic that you’re gonna write about in part 2, I think I’m not very interested,and so are a lot of people.
    We’re getting really sick about this topic already. It’s like 2 kids fighting all day about who’s right.
    A: I’m right.
    B: No, you’re not. I’m right
    A: No, you’re not. I’m right
    B: No, you’re not. I’m right
    In the end it doesn’t matter, the fact still remains. Malaysians are still going to be Malaysians and Singaporeans are still going to be Singaporeans. And we all still love our countries.
    I know you probably are going to end part II in a peaceful way saying it all doesn’t matter, we’re neighbours, considering the position you are in. But seriously, I think we’ve had enough of this. The kids will know, after a day or a week’s verbal fight that it all doesn’t matter and it’s better to stick around and have fun and play together rather than argueing about who’s right or wrong.

  16. U learn from these lessons, young Kenny. Wot u experienced in a `fun’ drunked Aussie society is not the same with these immature peasants from both countries. Even the leaders are babies.

  17. hi kenny, i’m from kl, after reading all the xx, shaolin tiger and your post, i really want to laugh at you guys, so many patterns…
    i’m chinese, too. yes, perhaps xx’s using a lot of rude words, and she is racist(but some malays really sux sometimes, especially those bully chinese with many whole gang, she is true, but don’t use pig to represent them la, like we also don’t want people to call us chink right?), and …but what she experienced were true, so we should stop firing towards her.
    somehow, words can caused unexpected things happen…so mind your own language, s’porean shouldn’t be that “higly educated” people, in my mind, s’porean only kiasu(this is good, at least you guys will work harder), but not “piss-maker”…
    if blog war caused a real war, this is not what we want(right?)… so everybody should mind their words, especially when one’s blog hav so many traffics…should’ve more responsiblility on what he/she says, we assume that that person is representing of his/her country…
    for your situation, don’t

  18. Travel frequently to Malaysia. Noticed that people living in the north are generally more polite and sincere than those living in the South. Since you live by the fence, u’r indeed confused. Just stay clear from personal assasination n continue to amuse yr self.

  19. hi kenny,
    this issue has gone on for too long. perhaps, it’s best to leave it be. No need to clarify your stand on this issue to the whole blogosphere. It’ll just spark another round of mud-slinging.

  20. it’s letters lah… THE ALPHABET, letters of the alphabets.
    ANYWAY kenny tell X that she can come to KL still and I will still take leave to take her out on a holiday.

  21. Ok, here is the summary of what happened
    1. X wrote about her dissapointing trip but some points were too generalised is like refering the whole of KL(and -Lians) sucked.
    (my view : her blog, she can write whatever she likes)
    2. M & S “beh song”, they wrote back their own views.
    (my view : it’s their blog they can write whatever they want)
    3. X quietly deleted comments in that entry (she wrote some malicious words to her readers that disagree with with her ), and write another post rallying for support.
    (my view: X thinks “gee.. I need support, have to delete those comments if not less ppl will support me! M and S, let me show you the XX power!! Now my readers will slap you with pigs!)
    4. S entry in (2) has over 500 comments! He then wrote another entry in respond to (3). In the meantime, some readers of X noticed she deleted comments in (3) , they expressed their disastifaction
    (my view : I commented in her blog too the act of her deleting the comments . Berani buat berani tanggung! = Dare to do, dare to face the consequences!)
    5. Response of X readers did not side on her, most of them were angry about the defamation of their own country(mostly from comments in the entries), some of the sgporeans while expressing disatisfaction on S entry, also called X “bimbotic bitch”
    (my view : ……)
    6. After much comments in (4), XX put up the deleted comments again, but the comments were altered to sound nicer.
    (my view : now X is trying to lie somemore)
    Latest: X removed some words and pics from the (1) entry. She then write another entry stating she is going hiatus, how dissapointed she was that ppl is attacking her family and friends..
    (my view :
    a) got meh? I read all entries and summed up to 1000++ comments, nobody say such things wor?!”
    X thinks: “the getting-sympathy tactic will continue to work! Now i must sound more dramatic”
    b) why “photoshop” the entry in (1), if she felt what she said was wrong… just admit it.
    X thinks : “I’ll just quietly remove those malicious words… nobody is smart enough to find out.. muahahahha”)
    conclusion : X is full of evil tactics and dishonest. She also think that everybody is stupid.

  22. i’ve been to KL a few time, compare to where i am, it looks like paradise! and the people are nice too. i’m glad X didn’t go to india! 😉

  23. V also apologises that you got stuck in the middle and doesn’t fancy your position. (although in real life, being in the middle of two women isn’t that bad a thing)

  24. E thinks you need more sleep. And that X made a mistake. And that everything happens for a reason. And the whole thing is getting boring.
    Can we have a Ipoh vs Penang debate now? 😛

  25. kecacatan maksima. can’t believe such issue would exist in the Msian/Singaporean blogsphere. Patriotism gone haywire.
    Stay out of it before the news gets to the printed media!

  26. True…always good to choose words wisely. As they are the most lethal weapon.
    Yup…please do continue sitting in the middle gound Kenny. As there are always three sides to a story; the first-party, the 2nd-party and also what really happened.

  27. Along the lines, i can see some commenters hoping to stop u from blogging bout this whole fiesta…
    Simply becos they are sick of the whole thing. Or afraid that u will cause another blogsphere riot.
    But WTH? it’s ur blog lei… why still got people telling u wat to or not to blog? Haiz.
    Everything got their own differences. A tall and handsome man who’s rich can be fucking dumb and has a small dick.
    Or a damn poor guy who cant afford a car may have a kind soul and a great family.
    So, whether it’s Malaysia, Singapore, Perth, Xiaxue, Kenny, or me la… All of us have good and bad points ma… So commenting on all the flaws and good of one’s country is needless.
    Cos no place or person is perfect.

  28. so, what’s the point of you the person above this comment? Can’t get what you trying to express?! what r u trying to say? duh…

  29. Wahahaha… Like a fight between ur wife and ur own mother !! Either way, u LOSE !!
    This Malaysia-Singapore thingy is getting a little bit crazy. I also got a comment on my blog abt it when i m obviously not taking sides.
    Wah Lau.. all adults alr.. watz there to fight ?? Now X is so sianz that she’s hiding taking a break while F goes to learn Kung Fu to fight with the tiger !! *grin*

  30. it’s all oh-so-clear right now- X’s post is misinterpreted. I very much pity X because she’s the victim here, her post is misinterpreted and, more ridiculous, some actually made the impression that tourists in malaysia should be forced to love smelly drains and adore the rudeness of a few malaysians, then malaysians would be satisfied.

  31. no need to argue one… whoever likes s’pore so much, stay there and don’t come over anymore. whoever likes malaysia, stay in there and don’t let s’porean come anymore. peaceful!

  32. Kenny, I’m waiting for your part two of this blog before I say anything.
    I understand why you wouldn’t touch this pms fued cat fight with a ten foot pole. Afterward what if ‘Kenny sia’ ended ‘kena sai’?

  33. Ya man me too. Lotsa things this September. I can’t wait for October to suddenly come soon. Nooooo that would mean I’ve missed my deadline!
    -_- Well well… Jia you ba dude!

  34. i am a s’porean living in s’pore and do have much pride for my country. but i was really disgusted and offended by the way that X(xiaxue) had related her KL experiences. though, yes, i understand that her true intentions were meant to say that her TRIP to KL was an unpleasant one but she had indeed like your friend said made it seem as though she ridiculed KL and her insults were pretty much offensive especially because she had compared singaporean standards to it saying it is SO much better. even for myself i feel offended, what more for kl/m’sians?
    though yes you might say that m, v and s had misinterpreted the whole entry, but thats how things are read isn’t it. they are interpreted from words.. and true intentions, especially in X’s case, don’t often show as easily.
    i understand it is difficult for a person in your position since you are such a good friend of X and are also a m’sian. i urge you to read through the ‘kl pretty much sucked’ entry again think about how little intentions showed and how offensive the opinions(insults) were. though yes, X might be your friend but if she is wrong you will do no help to her by keeping your opinions silent. tell her what you honestly think and hopefully she will realise her mistake.
    this comment was made to neither insult X or encourage m, v and s. i just wanted to offer my 2 cents worth.. (:

  35. About the title, I totally agree.
    But having the fact that XX actually remove and ammend that entry post, that’s disgraceful.
    She should just stick her head in the toilet bowl at WTC as the first official student to clean Lee Kuan Yew’s toilet.
    That’s a very cowardly act and stupid act by removing and editing your entries after a huge flame was on. This shows how low she is. I hope she goes from hero to zero.

  36. haha kinda agree with u andrew..
    hmm honestly i thought X was kinda mean.. i’m a malaysian myself.. she’s like degrading everyone that’s lives in KL.. if she feels so dirty about herself.. maybe she should learn to be MORE CONSERVATIVE and hmm more defensive… haha!! pick up taekwondo or something ..

  37. It’s just a rant, like what we do in mamak stalls and coffee shops about rising oil prices, proton, snatch thieves, NEP’s and APs. Whatever the case, we’ve just proved how rude malaysians can be by sending all those untasteful hate mails.
    Maybe we should really look into our society more closer and take it on a lighter side.
    Look at Thailand. Being perceived as a sex trade destination, instead of lashing out and blasting everyone within radius,the Thai government politely pointed out that they are other places of interest besides prostitution spots.
    On the other side of the fence, Indonesia’s citizens respond to untasteful comments with riots and threats of invading neighbouring countries, to the extent of moving milititary forces to our borders to make their point. Huge difference eh?

  38. honestly, she obviously doesnt travel much, and she went to Malaysia thinking its all that. Dont get me wrong, i love KL and all its flaw although i AM singaporean but having gone to many other countries, especially caucausian countries, i know that even singapore compared to european/american countries “pretty much sucks”.. and probably her going to KL on a low budget made it all the more worse cause i love the shopping there especially KLCC and malaysian restaurants.
    This whole issue is really childish although i really think that its about time xiaxue learn politically correctness. She has to learn to respect people and cultures. We can appreciate a sense of humour but even that has its limits (and appropriate phrasings)

  39. Kenny you so kesiannn……
    but in regards to X’s post about KL. i just came back from Shanghai and i went to egypt a few years before and guess what…its the same le…before we went out to the night bazaar in egypt ppl tell us to dress conservatively.Even that men there stared at us and asked us whether we had bfs and such.China, before i can get out of the cubicle this auntie is already in the cubicle with me…wahhh…
    so to me i think her insulting kl as a whole is immature.she should travel or READ UP more before she makes remarks such as this.her trip was bad purely because she was not informed…she was just asking for it when she made that post…so kena la…

  40. poor kenny! those ppl really mo liu! well, grow up man! y wanna quarel over ntg all u uncivilized ppl out there?? ppl are jes toking voicing out their thought ma…wad the f**k is there to do with u anyway!! if u dun like wad u reading, jes leave! y even bother to quarel?? sigh!

  41. WHY? XX EXPECTS EVERYONE IN KL TO KISS HER ASS WHEN SHE IS IN KL?
    HOW MANY PEOPLE IN THE STREETS KNOW HER? SHE IS A BLOODY STAR, MEH?

  42. Keep out of this childish arguement. Im from sg too but I was really offended by the way XX commented abt her trip. She must be a damn bloody filthy rich spoilt brat who is such a racist and naive. Enough said.

  43. I don’t see what’s the problem with XiaXue expressing her views? It’s just that…self-expression. The only reason why this is all so blown up is because she’s famous and here’s one good reason for the XiaXue haters to bombard her till she cracks down.
    I say let the poor girl live. She hasn’t done anything wrong except for pointing out a couple of ugly things she encountered here in KL. Heck, I would blog about the lack of edible food in South Korea and ramble on and on if I had the time, but I don’t.
    It’s not as if we’re all holy saints and don’t bitch at all. We DO bitch and we tend to exaggerate our laments a little when we get emotional. XiaXue is no different than the rest of us…so leave her be lest you want to be branded a hypocrite when you start whining about a broken nail, a crashed comp or whatever it is we humans whine about.

  44. I somehow do agree with “Tyson” that this XX is nothing but a spoilt, rich brat.
    Had she been brought up in a roomless, small 250 sq ft government flat in Marsiling, she won’t be talking like that.
    Also, gives me the impression that she must have one of the cleanest, if not the cleanest, ass in town and not many folks are allowed to sit on the chair she sits.
    Well, bloody KL is not a paradise, I know, but for your fucking sake, try to avoid words like “pig,” if you could. At times, you have to be politically correct.
    XX obviously has to learn a thing or two from Harry Lee Kuan Yew & Goh Choke Tong and avoid such faux-pas.
    Being a freaking rich little brat living in a million dollar property in Singapore, try to be humble & if you can’t resist the “pig” word, do it in private when you are having dinner with your mother and Ah Kong.

  45. this matter has certainly been blown out of proportion. in my opinion, xx has been typing in this manner since a long time ago; we all love her frankness. it’s her blog, it’s her outlet to vent. i don’t see why should people be so aggravated by that entry, because she was just stating facts and her own feelings. i seriously think that this matter should end, why make things so bad? no offence to anyone, but i wish the blogosphere would just remain how it is like it was in the past.. i enjoy reading everyone’s blog, and its now so much of a chore to do so as i have to read “she is so rude to say this” or “this is my blog im just stating facts” entries instead of the normal interesting entries that are being served by you bloggers..

  46. come on kids, can’t y’all just get along? arguing on the internet is just a waste of time, imo. but i had a good laugh reading both tyson and PakKadok comments, and yes i do agree what you guys said. hahahahahaha!

  47. XX amusingly is typical of many Singaporean. Always whining when overseas. Everythings else in the world is wrong and inefficient except theirs. And many behave like spoil kids demanding attention, ranting complaints after complaints. Am surprise these never change. Brats.

  48. I MIGHT BE WRONG BUT WHAT XX HAS WRITTEN MIGHT JUST TYPICALLY REPRESENTS THE GENERAL ARROGANCE SHOWN BY SINGAPORE TOWARDS M’SIA.
    SINGAPORE IS GREAT THIS, GREAT THAT. M’SIA IS THIS, IS THAT. TYPICALLY ARROGANT AND KIASU ATTITUDES.
    JUST REMEMBER, NO MAN IS AN ISLAND.

  49. being a blogger…XX shd’ve known a more appropraate word to use…she does sound like a spoilt brat who juz whine & whine & pout & pout & bla bla bla…

  50. Should the linja didi say something?
    I’ve go through the xx’s post, and some of the offender’s post, too.
    The xx, she says words in her bottom heart, but..
    without thinking.
    Girls normally like that, they say without thinking, without using brain, that’s why we call them girls ma!(bo dai mou lou, wakaka) Right? If girls will think care much bout political issues, then nowadays a lot of politicians will be womens and not mens already loh… I’m not sex racist, I’m telling the truth, ok? (:
    So, forgive and forget la guys, she might look offended to KL citizens, to whole Malaysia ppls, but she got the good value in her, she loves her country, she keep saying S’pore is the best country in the world and she likes her country a lot la, proud of her country and so on…wakaka, I like the patriotism in her. If Malaysian got half of her patriotic, then M’sia can better now..
    We should forgive her bitchy act, her naivty(can’t say she is innocent, she ain’t look innocent), and her rudeness, I guess this incident has taught her a good lesson. bla bla bla…should stop here.
    Oh yeah, I’m M’sian too. 😛
    Regards,
    linja didi

    “my trip to kl was fucked up also, immigration at johor was a nightmare even though all my travel documents were in order, fine i went through it, the bus ride was a nightmare, reaching kl was another nightmare being fleeced by those touts at pudu and other things as well. KL the city itself is beautiful but i think SOME of the people there need attitude change and its about time malaysia started teaching english in schools 🙂 no mallice intended :p”
    What makes u think we don’t learn english in school? This is what i call baseless comments by ignorant Singaporeans.

  52. I read XX often and in fact, I actually DO agree with what she has said about her experiences in Malaysia. Sad but true. However, she has put it in a way which is offensive, just like any other of her ‘dissing’ posts. And it is in fact a little annoying when she tries to rally for support by sounding pitiful.
    Ah well, it just boils down to the fact that she’s still young, still immature. Pretty obvious from those posts when she insults others. 10 years later, she will probably realise she has been such a spoilt brat.

  53. Linja Didi: YEAH, YEAH, EVERYONE KNOWS TO FORGIVE IS DIVINE.
    BUT THE BLOODY CARDINAL SIN COMMITTED BY THAT FEMALE SWINE CALLED XIAXUE IS THAT HER COMMENTS HAD CLEAR RACIST AND RELIGIOUS UNDERTONES.
    IS THAT CALLED FOR? OR IS THAT HOW ALL CHINESE SINGAPOREANS FEEL DEEP IN THEIR HEART (BUT DON’T DARE MUTTER THEM B’COS IT’S NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT)?
    THE PICTURE OF HER KNEELING DOWN ON THE BED IN FRONT OF THOSE PAIR OF SHOES, IS THAT XX’S WAY TO MOCK AT MUSLIMS’ PRAYERS?

  54. Hey man… you are Malaysian, she is insulting KL people and Malaysia. Just ask her to apologise to all KL people, I believe this is what KL people want.
    I think an apology is not too much for her in such insulting blog she posted. We all KL-ians and Malaysian are waiting for her apology!

  55. Just some 2 cents worth of what I think. xx can just apologise for her usage of words. She claims that she didn’t attack KL or something but her post title “KL pretty much sucked!” is like very contradicting already. Like what you said, “My KL trip pretty much sucked!!!!” will be so much better.

  56. Hheheheh!! i knew this was gonna happen to you .. i was just wondering.. when you were gonna say something.. 😉
    Yes..die also both ways.. !! poor you ..!
    Being friends with two very sharp/smart female bloggers is just so tough eh..??

  57. geez, why are people so stupid? In my opinion, F, H, R, X, T, and whoever are all STUPID. Big deal, kl sucks, kuching sucks, this effing country sucks big time, and it’s all because of the people in it, including all those initials involved in a really STUPID banter. 90% of kenny readers are big STUPID idiots, as you can see by the comments left behind. can your brains process this: you can’t expect everyone to have the same feelings about one thing/place AAAAND, you’re acting like BIG BRATS by not allowing ppl to have their own opinions. gawd, you’re all stupid. as if she was talking about your mother.

  58. and its not “alphabets”, you moron (referring to spiller here). it’s “letters”. we have only ONE alphabet. moron.

  59. apparently that “youreallsostupid” doo doo head wants his point known in the chatterbox and on the comments. grow up lah. get a life. go get yew own blog yer whiny kid.

  60. i do not, for the love of god, understand why readers like to have conversations in another person’s comments counter. like taruh for the sake of taruh only.
    hahaha.

  61. Well , i think this whole episode is just a propaganda whenever both country’s national day is near… you know… instill patriotism into your ppl…

  62. I read XX’s blog entry. I would agree with her, KL pretty much sucked when she came here, but yeah she worded it such that many people could fly into an indignant bad temper.
    When caught between two people in a situation like this, I normally tell the two of them I think they’re being stupid and overreacting and keep me out of this.

  63. i say we all boycott internet drama.
    you like to read, you read.
    you don’t like to read, don’t read.
    now doesn’t that make everyone happy?
    ANTI INTERNET DRAMA!
    GO PEACE! GO LOVE! GO HARMONY!
    so i sound deranged. nvm. got my point across.

  64. Kesian you, stuck in the middle.
    Aih, I think both blogger & and some blogders are to be blamed.
    – XX readers who are overprotective of Msia and should just open their mind a little bit more.
    – and also herself for summarizing the whole KL terrible. She should get some local friends to bring her around mah.
    But still, I think the only people who can appreciate Malaysian food and culture are well, Malaysians.

  65. It’s just like Economics and a wee bit of Marketing.
    “What goes up, must come down”. 😉
    Maybe, it’s the downhill of XX this time. Anything can happen in one single mistake.
    Like how Arthur Andersen closed down in three days just after an unforced mistake.

  66. Oh ya, since when Singapore food is good?
    Alot of Singaporeans claim that their food is good and stuff but I have never actually been to a stall/restaurant which is to say, good.
    Even XX agreed that Singaporean food is good.
    But Singaporean food can suck my balls for all I care. (From my experiences)
    They cook “Char Kuey Teow” with tomato sauce? wtf?
    They give you some sweet sauce thingy in curry laksa? Eww.. they should’ve just sticked to belacan.
    Basically, their food is nothing compared to Malaysia. Though they have much much more varieties but, I can say that, the edible ones are only say 3/10 haha.
    And, I also think that Singaporeans can’t eat spicy stuff. That’s why the tomato sauce comes in. Eww.
    I’m sure the burger at Misai in SS2 is definitely better than McDonald’s in Singapore.
    Thank god I am born a Malaysian. (But many things I don’t like also but so used to it aih)
    Craves for bak kut teh now….. *drools*

  67. I am a Singaporean who recently had a rather pleasant trip to KL. I found the people there nice and well, I enjoyed myself! If I was given the opportunity to go again, I defintely wouldn’t hesitant. But like xx, I do agree that the taxi drivers there do tend to rip us off.
    I don’t understand why it matters that xx felt KL sucked! It was just how she felt about her trip!
    I am sure we have been on a trip or two which we didn’t particularly enjoy.
    I really don’t get what all this fuss is about! Minishorts saying that KL is her home and all. I totally understand where she is coming from, but I hear shit all the time about Singapore being predictable, boring etc which is untrue, and I just ignore the comments and mind you, I love my country!
    I mean I am actually 16, and I see this battle of malaysia vs singapore as idiotic!! I mean c’mon enough is enough! I don’t even understand why people who are meant to be wise, can’t get over the whole KL issue and get on with life. It’s just so sad.

  68. OKAY,OKAY, TO ALL THE APOLOGISTS OF THAT SNOUT-FACED PIGGY CALLED XIAXUE.
    SHE CAN SAY WHAT SHE WANTS ABOUT K.L.,BUT WHY THE RACIST AND RELIGIOUS (OBVIOUSLY ANTI-ISLAMIC) INSINUATIONS?
    WHY, TELL US WHY? IS THAT NECCESSARY?
    OR THAT IS A RELEASE OF HER PENT-UP FEELINGS/SENTIMENTS (lepas geram)?

  69. Erm… Getting a bit too heated up eh?
    So much fuss about this war of words, and since I didn’t read all those individual entries from the Alphabets people, time for me to kepoh and read what XX originally wrote 😛
    Told myself I am never going back to visit her site for the second time liao, but just had to go this time to satisfy my curiosity hehe.
    (Why wouldn’t I want to visit her site anymore? Coz personally, I don’t care which country she’s from, but her entries are generally immature and naive, i.e. shows her age. Just not an XX-fan, that’s all!)
    I think there’s a fine line btwn complaining and ridiculing. And NO KENNY, PMS is NOT an acceptable reason! I myself never used that reason in my entire life alright!
    I personally think PakKadok does have a point that she DEFINITELY crossed the line by making bad comments against people’s religions. I hate it too when some devout Christians criticize me for being a Buddhist (now, Christians out there, don’t blast me, I’m just merely putting out ONE of my own real life examples)
    I’m a Malaysian, living in Malaysia, who had lived in Australia for many years too. I agree that KL sucks because parts like Petaling St area are bloody dirty and transportation is totally crap. That is something our govt needs to learn by example from Singapore.
    However, aside from going shopping during the Big Singapore Sale, I find there’s nothing attractive in Singapore at all. And there’s no need to argue about food quality. Food there is horrible, I find that even food in Melbourne/Sydney is way better. Most of their so-called local food originated from Malaysia anyway. Bad copycats though 😛
    Anyway, there’s good and bad in both places lahh…. don’t criticize ppl’s country just because of one bad apple lah… it’s just plain childish, IMHO.

  70. I think there is more to it than just Malaysia v Singapore. X has repeatedly shown her ignorance, stupidity and low class attitude in so many of her previous posts – the KL trip post was just the one that brought out all these elements the most.

  71. Just finished reading XX’s original post on KL.
    All I can say is….
    Haha, a bit stupid leh… if you want to shop for nice, tasteful clothes, where got people go to Petaling St wan? And XX keeps calling it Petaling! Haha, does that mean the war involves ppl from Selangor as well now? ;P
    Of all the areas she went to, she chose to go Petaling St area. That is THE most hated spot of KL for me. I’ve suffered in that area long enough when I was studying in one of the schools around that area lehh….
    She should have asked for a KL friend to show her around…
    And what’s with complaining about prices? Malaysians going over for a trip should be complaining abt the exchange rate instead wor….
    Hmmm…
    But yah, I do agree that some of her comments and words clearly show her ignorance and erm, lack of exposure! Time to open your eyes to other countries as well, XX 😛

  72. 100th comment! mwahahaha…. hahahaha, Kenny’s in trouble again!
    Don’t you just hate it when you’re so popular you know pretty much everyone and meanwhile everyone is mad at each other and you’re in the middle?
    I know, I hate the people in the middle too 🙂

  73. haiz…
    to start with, i’m a singaporean..
    dun find it comfortable when i see ppl insulting my country..
    but i do understand the fury that xx has ignited with her crass n stupid comments abt KL..
    i’ve been to KL countless times, n except for that one time this cab driver scared a bit of hell out of me, i’ve had pleasant experiences so far..
    i find it stupid when XX asked ppl to defend singapore.. this to me is not the case of defending our country..u r the one who caused all this shit..y shld the readers take the blame for u? we dun hav to do this shitty stuff to show our patrotic side..
    guess she’s right..her readers did get tired of defending her.. but not cos they see no sense in the crazy ppl (she labelled).. she shld really take time to reflect on y she’s not getting the support she wanted..u noe..we read ur blog doesn’t mean we have to kiss ur ass..
    she seems to think her readers love her a lot huh..
    she’s juz a self centered bitch IMO..so for those ppl who wanted her to apologize for her post..dun bother..cos she won’t..i guarantee plus chop!! she’d juz come up with a lengthy post of y she ought not to apologize..
    n becos of her..the other poor singaporeans like me got to be labelled as snotty n whiny fellows who behave like spoil kids demanding attention, ranting complaints after complaints..
    how not to be angry at her? haizz…

  74. hihi ya’ll loserz =D, im a winner by the way, does IMO stand for sumthin oooh yea intellingent much-admired ornament YEAH MAN NOOBER CANT EVEN NI@o ppl can go jump down ya’ll niggaz yea cozz dont apologise for her post, BUT FEEL SAD THAT UR A NIGGA IF U ARE BLACK for goodness sake black = dark = cannot be seen at night SOoO TOoO b@D =D P.S. ppl like us dont need support coz we know we’re right and ya’ll already know it & its just about u guys admittin that ur wrong isnt it?
    P.S. singaporean kids are cool coz we got the money that we dont wanna spend on like toys?
    coz ur never gonna see an adult buying teletubies or watchin hi-5 and also coz we kiddies luv fun unless ur a darkie who has to help sell fish (selfish) or do some Hard LABOUR (i dont mean givin birth) but by all means enjoy doin that stuff (even givin birth) PLEASE ur already havin a population crisis! WE STRIVE FOR THE BEST — IE we ask for the best in terms of the easiest method -> complaints coz it rawks
    by the way i know too that darkies dont demand attention coz er we ER CANT SEE YOU!?
    have a nice day ( coz at night its too dark…..)

  75. i do think malaysian should take the whole criticism openly as it is a fact that we still have alot of room for improvement and why make such a big deal about it. does it mean patriotism to just fight back? probably, try to prove them wrong by making our country a better place, because i did saw and experience all the ugly scene that she describe in kl. i was cheated by taxi driver also…taken advantage by hawkers also….so..in stead of pointing fingers back, probably it will be more rasional for us to reflect on ourselves and make our country a better place.

  76. i say, just give xiaxue a break can’t you?
    she’s not a spoilt rich brat.
    for fuck’s sake she doesn’t even have air-con.
    i would just die if i didn’t have air-con.
    so i’m the spoilt rich brat now aint i?
    and she buys her clothes CHEAP from sales and blah blah blah.
    and is it wrong to say that KL sucked. hello women if YOU got molested in some street in singapore you’ld probably like avoid that street for the rest of your life.
    can’t you sympathize with the poor girl and try to look from her perspective?

  77. Frankly , kenny, I’ve always enjoyed your posts but this one…??? You shouldnt be caught in the middle as I’m sure you have your own sense of values rather than blind loyalty.
    Party A: self centred, lying , self indulgent RACIST!!
    Party B: Indignant and defensive.
    The choice is obvious isnt it???

  78. well .. I’m definitely on your side (as ambiguous as it is). They’re all just a bit paranoid, I guess. We all live in the same world, so we should all just chill out and make friends, ay?

  79. hi there,
    i dont know if you read all your comments, if this post will help in any way.. but here is my 2 cents on this topic. I am singaporean, my mum is malaysian and i moved to nz couple years ago. I spent all my june and december school holidays in either johor or kl. I studied in sunway for a year,and my bestfriend is from your hometown. I do believe I can say a few things about this whole… issue. Yes, *some* singaporeans can be snotty when they travel, looking down on other countries and such. Yes, taxi drivers in kl are notorious for ripping tourists off. Yes, it is not advisable to wear tight or revealing(this is of course SUBJECTIVE) clothes in Msia but No, its not okay to be molested in any circumstance. I can dress revealingly if I shopped at one utama or go clubbing at bangsar, lived around TTDI/sri hartamas but if I was in KL, no way. Well, only people who knew malaysia well would know this.
    I like singapore. Its clean and efficient, safe too but i know its not perfect(for the record, msia food is better, they dont stinge on ingredients). Geez, there isnt one place in this world thats perfect! But to make the comments she made.. thats really unacceptable. The comments that stood out were the racist/insensitive ones. Well, then again, perhaps this shows the attitude of some singaporeans out there. I have been really upset at the attitude of some officials at the msia govt, having breaks every 1/2 hour while i wait, taking forever to process my documents, waving me away because im not malay and im singaporean which means they get to bully me in subtle ways. But that is msia.Thats just the way things work. I dont know, maybe i didnt inherit the singaporean “complaining” gene. Maybe i just have an understanding that outside of clean, controlled, little singapore, things work differently. Like in the other countries I’ve been to. I hope your malaysian readers take heart in knowing that there are singaporeans out there who dont think like xx. Its alright to bitch about an unhappy episode, but to make insensitive comments like that – unacceptable. My last bit>> Bitching about the quality of RIP OFFS? very pathetic!

  80. Yoz, listen up, i’m Malaysian as well, ppl critics my own country, so wassup ? I’m happy with it, coz we have to admit the real facts, the taxi drivers all the same attitude, no matter KL or PG or JB. I myself don’t like Malaysian taxi driver !! The girl had a bad experience during her trip to KL, so she voice out her experience n trip, what on earth should we so angry on ? She talks, then we listen, nobody ask you to be insulted or angry ? Nobody insult ur mama or papa ? Get a life man…Do u love ur country so much until u will sacrifice ur own life ? If ur answer is YES, go and kill every1 that insult ur country, i want to see how can u survive !! U noe it urself, dont have to overact or try to show u love ur country and make other ppl life miserable. Last and easy solution, NOBODY FORCE U READ WAT U DONT LIKE, TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT, U READ, THEN U UNHAPPY, WAT FOR ?

  81. hello, im a singaporean living in perth and im not a fan of any of the bloggers involved.. but i do however think this issue has blown out of hand.. (to the point that i now read all of the blogs just to find out what’s the big deal)
    Granted, she did make her racist comments and complaints, but that’s her own personal space, which is of course her blog.. If you want to read it, do so, if not, then who cares! PMS is a big deal to some girls, because they will have severe violent mood swings (example: me) and i won’t be polite or nice when i talk or blog..
    Also, every person will always feel more comfortable within their home country.. even i will claim perth sucks compared to singapore, but that’s my own opinion, you know..
    So everyone, just chill for abit.. ok?
    BTW- Every country always has its good and bad points.. every country will always have ITS own fair share of racists.. I’m not condoning her racist attacks.. it is disgraceful.. but as i said, its her blog.. Personally its always been shocking when i get racist comments from the locals here..
    So please, think about the fact that there’s racial harmony in BOTH Singapore and Malaysia.. but not in many other countries..
    Cheers.. 🙂 not forgetting, peace

  82. “Poor me” made a very good comment. Thank God there are many sensible singaporeans like her around to balance out some minority others 😉
    I so agree that it’s silly to ask her readers to back her up… a bit on the pathetic side too…

  83. I think the comments here are really getting out of hand.
    Kenny’s hands are kinda tied at the moment. He was just blogging how he’s caught between the ‘alphabet’ girls.
    Never thought this comment forum turn out like this. *shrug* If ppl gotta fight, take it outside. What if Kenny just one day go ‘pop’ somewhere inside his head and close everything down because he couldn’t blog a simple thing without starting an ugly cyber war.

  84. to those fucking idiots:

    Alright, from your perspective, is it right to teach your sons or your daugther to fuck others people when they get hurt, insulted or whatsoever, yeah, you can, and you must. I know, but please la, you fuck whoever who fuck you, but not the whole fucking city or the whole fucking country, if I get molested in streets of s’pore, i won’t fucking fuck the fucking president or elseone of s’pore, i will only fuck the muthafucka molester, am I correct? U guys blindly defending her will cause the poor lil XX continue her mistakes, she will not learn from it forever only. So fucka idiotic fans, please think twice before you say you can do anything because you are being molested, go kill the persons you have been molested la, why the bloody hell you critize the whole fucking kl-ians? you idiot ah, now i dun fucking song so i fucking fuck you guys, can I? yeah, you say can then I fuck loh, fucker idiot!

  85. I think that some of the people who read the KL sucks entry just got overreacted a little bit ugly. True that her words could be so harsh in some portion of the post but still she was right about some of the cases.
    I actually just laughed out loud when she made some over exaggerated remarks. No harsh feelings really! Sometimes, people can get so over sensitive at certain things.
    However, still poor Kenny for being “put on the table” (canto). If I were you, I would just tell them to settle it on their own, don’t complain nor drag me into it.

  86. Will the Silent war between SG ppl and Malaysia ppl ever end? if you feel offended… by all means go do something. What’s the point telling Kenny how bad his friend is? Don’t other country talk bad about the whole malaysia? why didn’t you go and tell them how you feel?
    My intention is to clear that… people everywhere are the same. We have bad and good people. Why only her? there are worse singaporeans i’ve met. Trust me… she’s only a small fry compare to those selfcentered mofoz… Don’t tell me there isn’t any in malaysia. pfft… I’m a malaysian and i live and work in singapore. Just because of some people’s “SMART” remark or comments or emails to that particular person… he/she has lost … is that what you really want? you think you’re sooooo freaking great doing it? or do you get an orgasm just by insulting people? so what if she insulted KL people… but i think most of it are true. just the facts guys… THINK! you have a brain… use it.

  87. forgiveness and love. who never make mistake. learn to forgive and your everyday can be a better day.
    self reflection. again…who never make mistake. reflect on our own country and no one finger pointing and anyone. everyone have a part to play to make their own country a better place.
    smile and peace. hope that cyber world without boundry will not be framed down by the little misunderstanding.
    as a malaysian, i do hope both malaysian and everyone of every nation out there can be more forgiving, more self reflecting and more smile, then our cyber world will be a better place.
    hope that this issue can be resolve soon.
    -peace-

    The point is she does act like a rich spoilt brat. She was the one bragging about how her father gave her money and she had so much money to spend in KL. Then she ends up touring KL like a beggar complaining everything is too expensive.

  89. THE ISSUE HERE IS:
    WHY DID THAT SNOUT-FACED SOW CALLED XX HAD TO USE RACIST WORDS LIKE “TI-KO(Pig Bro)& SNEERING AT OTHERS’ RELIGIOUS PRACTICES?
    I HOPE SHE DOESN’T REPRESENT THE GENERAL VIEWS OF THE CHINESE SINGAPOREANS.
    BY THE SAME TOKEN, ARE ALL CHINESE SINGAPOREANS FILTHY, HEARTLESS CAPITALIST PIGS WHOSE ONLY CARE IN THIS WORLD IS MONEY,MONEY & MONEY & TO HELL WITH HIS POORER NEIGHBORS?
    SO, I SUPPOSE TO XX & HER ILK, HER INDIAN COUNTERPARTS WILL BE “OH PUAY (Black Skin)”, I SUPPOSE.
    SO TO XX & HER ILK, ONLY THEY(Chinese) ARE HUMANS, THE REST ARE “KOOI”,LAH.
    DONNO WHAT KIND OF BLOODY CHRISTIAN SHE IS. AND WHAT KIND FATHER & MOTHER WHO NEVER TAUGHT THEIR SPOILT DAUGHTER MANNERS. AM SURE FATHER & MOTHER TOO BUSY MAKING MONEY,MONEY,MONEY.
    CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM IS OK BUT LEAVE RACIST & RELIGIOUS REMARKS OUT.
    EVEN GEORGE BUSH DOESN’T DARE UTTER THESE, HOW DARE SHE?

  90. Xiaxue seemingly generalised every Malaysian as the few she met during her KL trip. Over these two comment areas i see people attacking everything Singapore just because of one Xiaxue’s blog.
    Pot calling the kettle black? Or simply just that the internet makes everyone stupid? Perhaps both? Yah…. “everyone” includes myself too. Why the hell am i making a comment here too? Silly me…..

  91. BY THE WAY, FOLKS WHO ARE READING THIS.
    TRY TO DONATE SOMETHING TO Ms. YVONNE FOONG WHO IS NOT AS LUCKY AS WE ARE AND WHO IS SUFFERING FROM A DEBILITATING DISEASE.
    WE WON’T GET POORER IF WE PART WITH $10, $20 OR $50 TO HELP THIS GIRL.
    NEITHER WOULD WE BE RICHER IF WE HANG ON TO THAT $10, $20 OR $50.
    GO TO: http://www.yvonnefoong.com

  92. dear ‘Anonymous’
    i am not a xiaxue fan, friend or even an avid reader of her blog to say the least.
    although now i do check back because of these issues.
    i am just saying this from a fellow FEMALE’S perspective.
    from the entries i’ve read so far, xiaxue is not at all like a spoilt rich brat. she’s frank, too frank at times, but i share her sentiments about KL.
    heard about the guy who encountered a bad taxi driver in singapore?
    did singaporeans go complaining on and on that he shouldn’t discriminate us because of ONE TAXI DRIVER? did we say he was overreacting and he should have expected it?
    we didn’t.
    in fact, we were told to improve our manners, be more courteous and to act lke civilised people so that we can welcome more visitors to singapore. and so?
    the fact remains that KL people are just too stuck up to admit the faults of their country.

  94. I’m sure ppl has have bad experiences before and bitch about them over time. When we face discrimination, get bullied or just bad luck. It’s her blog, she can do whatever she likes with it because it’s the internet. People have done worse (posting beheadings, murders and extreme sexual fantacies)yet instead of attacking those, people choose to flame bloggers. Doesn’t make sense.
    I’m am neither malaysian or singaporean but I have relatives from both countries.
    When I visited KL, I had a great time. Granted I met some ppl who I didn’t like or was just plain scary. Still, the food is great, shopping better and people are lovely.
    Same goes for singapore but I dunno why but singapore people looked so stressed to me. I seldom see them smile or at least cheerful on the streets. Service in shopping No.1 though.
    So both countries in my view got plus and minus. Even singaporeans and malaysians got to admit to that. Yes, it’s good that you defend your own country, but why ‘malu’ yourself [and your country] by sparking/spreading hate and malice in a simple comment forum.
    Bloggers just blog their feelings and emotions at the time. They didn’t post ‘YOU MUST READ ME OR ELSE YOU’RE A WUSS”.
    If want to flame and vent, get your own blog or set up a debate, bring it out in a fair way. Not hiding behind your computer screen and tapping away in a comment forum. Then you are just no better than those you slander.

  95. dear kenny,
    I’ve been reading your entries every now and then, and really think you’re a good writer.
    This topic, ahem, had gone too far.
    I don’t know who this X girl is, but her stuffs are flooding your page.
    (curious to know and went to her page, read her piece of utter bullcrap)
    Stay out of this argument. None of the ‘teams’ is gonna win.
    I’m sure there are other visitors(other than m’sian & s’pore readers)reading this.
    How will they react? Laughing their asses out.

  96. SINGAPOREANS HAVE BEEN, WRONGFULLY OR RIGHTFULLY,BEEN PERCEIVED AS ARROGANT, KIASU, TO HELL WITH YOU ATTITUDE, COLD,HEARTLESS AND INSENSITIVE BY HER NEIGHBORS.
    BUT FROM THE RACISTS & RELIGIOUS MOCKERIES FROM THE MOUTH OF THAT REAL PIG CALLED XIAXUE AND HER APOLOGISTS, I MYSELF, CAN SENSE THAT THE ABOVE PERCEPTION MIGHT BE TRUE AFTER ALL.
    YES, THIS IS HER FREAKING BLOG, EVERYBODY KNOWS.
    BUT IS IT RIGHT FOR HER MOCK AT OTHERS WITH HER RACIST/RELIGIOUS SNEERS?
    ARE THE MAJORITY OF CHINESE SINGAPOREANS SAYING THAT THEY CAN CALL MALAYS PIGS, MOCK AT MUSLIM WOMEN WHO COVER THEIR HEADS JUST B’COS THEY HAVE UTTERED THESE IN THEIR OWN BACKYARD AND SINCE THEY ARE IN THE OWN BACKYARD, THEY CAN UTTER ALL THESE IN THE OPEN.
    IT’S FORTUNATE THAT XIAXUE IS JUST A CHINK. HAD SHE BEEN BORN A WHITE WITH BLUE EYES & BLONDE HAIR, I CAN IMAGINE HER ARROGANT TIRADE AGAINST OTHER MINOROTIES ESP. THE “INFERIOR” BLACKS AND AM SURE SHE WOULD NOT BE SPARING WITH HER USAGE OF THE WORDS “NIGGERS” OR “OH PUAY.”
    THE ISSUE IS NOT HER CRITICISMS OF KL. IT’S HER INSENSITIVE RACISTS/RELIGIOUS SNEERINGS OF THE MALAYS.

  97. “KL pretty much sucked” and “My KL trip pretty much sucked” … that is a tremendous difference. First denotes the entire KL and latter is but a comment on a trip and experience. XiaXue some writer? I doubt, as a satirist I guess…she failed badly at it anyway.
    Just shut up and stop throwing our Singaporean face. What a nincompoop. I don’t see anything intelligent in her blog.

    Me: *This is just great, taxi driver is asking passenger for direction!*
    Me: “Do you have a directory of some sort?”
    Taxi “What is a directory?”
    Me: *I think I am in luck!*
    Me: “It is in PJ, you know how to get there and we can ask around”
    Taxi: *140 kph with a Kancil as if it’s on fire*
    Taxi: *Passing the 6th toll booth*
    Taxi: *passing the 124th toll booth and counting..*
    Reached SS2, 5 hours and a day later at cost of R$352, passed 243 toll booths in a distance less than 51.5km
    Welcome to KL!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Hmmm… a KANCIL taxi? whatmore at KLIA? Even if it’s just a joke, at least try lah get some of the stuff right ;P
  99. A blogs meant to express your feelings if you dont like it , dont read it. its your own fault , getting all worked up about it. not happy , go post on your own blog.
  100. did u guys even realise by talking about her everywhere, you are just helping her become a celebrity??? free marketing hmmm
  101. well well well.. it all depends how you see the issue.
    No point harping. Your have your points, i have my views.
    N well, what’s there to feel enrage of? It doesn’t mean that with her word of “insult”(which you might feel), brings down the country.
    Btw, I can’t help but to say more. I encountered an incident with the country’s dato. N had a very bad issue with him. He simply looks down on people; while I have nothing to do with him, except for picking up his calls. That simply makes me change my opinion. Such an esteem Man, doing sia suey things. Duh.
  102. Arguing about this cheap sia topic will bring to no end.
    This so-called battle is like cold war between wife & mother.
    When the war strikes, which side will you be with?
    Honey or mommy?
    *kenny shrugs* Stuck in the middle lor.
    Oh hell yeah X’s fame is increasing tremendously these days and seems like she’s also on semi-hiatus.
  103. I think some people need to get over themselves.
    Singaporeans need to realise that travelling to other countries will definitely demand them to conform to a different set of rules/societal norms.
    And please, not all Singaporeans are whinny, ok? X’s blog is not by any measure a representation of Singapore or Singaporeans, be it Chinese, Malay, Indian or whatever else.
    I reiterate my point made earlier, some people need to get over themselves.
  104. Honestly, I pity M lar. Can you all actually see things as a whole? Yes, she was saying that X is a dog. But she also said that Malaysians are big fat elephants. Should I get angry with her? No. Cause they are just symbols lar. Why are people so angry with her?
  105. My trip to KL was equally bad too. Xiaxue is just stating her opinions and I don’t see why the need for such reactions. Go blog about your unhappy trip in Singapore (should you have any). I don’t think Xiaxue, Mr. Brown or Mr. Miyagi gives a damn.
  106. aiyoh, u help her, only let her “screw” you.
    she deserves ur help meh?
    anyway, how much u guys help her also no use.
    more and more people dislike her now.
    unless she takes a look in her pee, there is no way she will live happily at all.
    someone said bah? well, she claims to be happy but in reality, she is not.
    she can run, but she cant hide.
    stubborness gets u no where. u can be famous, but imfamously hateful.
    BAH!
  107. “THE ISSUE HERE IS:
    WHY DID THAT SNOUT-FACED SOW CALLED XX HAD TO USE RACIST WORDS LIKE “TI-KO(Pig Bro)& SNEERING AT OTHERS’ RELIGIOUS PRACTICES?
    I HOPE SHE DOESN’T REPRESENT THE GENERAL VIEWS OF THE CHINESE SINGAPOREANS.
    BY THE SAME TOKEN, ARE ALL CHINESE SINGAPOREANS FILTHY, HEARTLESS CAPITALIST PIGS WHOSE ONLY CARE IN THIS WORLD IS MONEY,MONEY & MONEY & TO HELL WITH HIS POORER NEIGHBORS?”
    -PakKadok
    The answer is a resounding NO.
    we should all stop generalising each other.
    elsewhere across the world, people in New Orleans are dying and starving.
    and here we are, attacking and abusing each other verbally over a relatively trivial issue.
    I think we all need to wake up and give ourselves a few good slaps.
  108. “….HOW ALL CHINESE SINGAPOREANS FEEL DEEP IN THEIR HEART (BUT DON’T DARE MUTTER THEM B’COS IT’S NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT)?”
    **********All???*********
    Labeling people as a whole for the fault of the few is prejudice.
  109. “The answer is a resounding NO.
    we should all stop generalising each other.
    elsewhere across the world, people in New Orleans are dying and starving.
    and here we are, attacking and abusing each other verbally over a relatively trivial issue.
    I think we all need to wake up and give ourselves a few good slaps.”
    Where’s the link? You are not answering the question. Please do not complicate the matter further. If you want to, please state directly that attention should be paid to the New Orleans’ matter instead. If so, please respect others’ concerns. We are humans, we can pay attention to more than one thing at once. However, this is not the matter in question in here. Thanks.
    I feel that X can learn from this lesson. We can all be gracious and let it pass. Likewise, she can be gracious enough to say a simple “sorry”. It plays both way be it her blog or the readers’ comments.
    Kenny, she is old enough to bear the brute of her mistakes. She invokes others with her dictation. Let her learn.
  110. An obvious perception of a blog is a public journal. It is fucking irresponsible and ignorant for those people who assumed that “oh, this is her blog, she has every right to write whatever she wants, otherwise, get lost, don’t read”.
    And from the day you decided to make your writings public, is it obviously already a self-promotional thing in certain perspective. If it’s so much for mere self-expression, then why not save up the webspace, write it intimately in your own journal book?
    But bear in mind, self-promotional doesn’t mean you’re a case of L.O.A. (lacking of attention). People do this even for full-time, for job preference. You won’t be surprised one day, people will hire/consult you because of what you wrote on your blog.
    A blog, is almost like something that YOU want people to make that impression of who you are. So, be responsibled for what you say. I have no offence over her bluntness and exaggeration, but i’m against her ‘oh-i’m-just-joking’ making those arabians look like a bunch of clowns.
    To be honest, i just don’t give a damn about what XX think of malaysia or singapore. It doesnt mean what she said defines malaysia/singapore in whole. It doesn’t mean anything AT ALL. It only explains ‘a sabbatical experience’.
    Be responsible, all i can say, to all bloggers. Face the fact, appologise if needed. An apology doesn’t mean you’re a loser. You’ll be surprised, lotsa controversy could just vanish with a word of sorry.
    If you think you’re on a right track, move on. Don’t make posts that make you look like an idiot, sending and hoping for sympathy from people. That’ll make it worse.
  111. IMHO all this rubbish can be solved if the start of this whole thing just make a public appology. Just forget who’s right or wrong la. Don’t be so kiasu..
  112. let’s not forget kenny.
    Poor kenny.
    Yes they are your frieds, but if they want to wage war and force u to take sides in their little skirmish, u should seriously consider the ‘Friend’ status u have so nicely bestowed upon them.
    It is them you should be disappointed in.
  113. 157 comments. Well I just wanted to make it 158 really…
    Anyway being neither Malaysian or Singaporean, I would like to say that the taxis in Singapore are generally more efficient and cleaner.
    Kenny – you can’t win because there is no right or wrong answer. Just type up Part B (or II) or your next post and let life roll on.
  114. “Arguing on the Internet is like Running in the Special Olympics
    Even if you win, you are still RETARDED!!”
    Yeah ano you rock!
  115. Firstly, from her posts, she doesn’t sound like one who will apologise.
    Secondly, her ambition to be a writer? I guess no one will buy her books.
  116. KL, Malaysian here.
    Malaysia Negaraku, is a wonderful place. It has wonderful world class facilities and infrastructure that enables it to host international events like the Commonwealth Games to name a few, but unfortunately it has 3rd world mentality.
    I agree wif her when XX mentioned about her “wonderful” trip not being that all wonderful because malaysians, plz, admit it larrrrr! KNN, some areas about the country do suck no matter how much u sugar coat it.
    How nicely can u say “I got molested” or “I got cheated by a cabbie” ?????
    Furthermore, her blog is her own personal space to express her own personal views about her own personal life which is nicely put up for you to have a read and laugh about.
    You don’t like what she’s saying or thinking, fuck off larrrr…. The internet is so big, nobody put a gun to ur blardy head to say that must be the only blog you should read every damn time also. Geezzzz.
    All this drama for the sake of what???
    I feel like as if a gun has been given to a 10 year old kid who doesn’t know it’s destructive powers or it’s benefits when a powerful tool like the internet is entrusted to a 3rd world minded person.
    It takes a man to see his mistakes. It takes an even bigger man to admit it.
    Open up ur mind and maybe then you won’t be so miserable all the time and spread ur misery by attacking everyone else with it.
    P.S. Kenny, I love ur blog!!!! *muaks*
  117. Don’t worry gguni, I’m a Singaporean, and there exist Singaporeans with 3rd world mentality here too. =) We are not so different after all.
    Cheers
    Lee
  118. Dear XiaXue, if you reading; Are you now or have you ever been? Please don’t ever associate your low mental acumen, vacuous write-ups with the word “Singapore”.
  119. “Arguing on the Internet is like Running in the Special Olympics
    Even if you win, you are still RETARDED!!”
    LOL. that’s an funny but accurate description of this entire issue- which actually is very silly.
  120. Dun kn why some ppl are so childish…and make a big fuss out of everything…some even asked singaporeans to stop visiting malaysianz:
    ‘no need to argue one… whoever likes s’pore so much, stay there and don’t come over anymore. whoever likes malaysia, stay in there and don’t let s’porean come anymore. peaceful!’
    no offense…but malaysian govt wldnt wan to see tat cos singaporeans form e largest grp of tourist n of cos, a huge tpurist receipts…its a win-win situation for all so some ppl shld tink be4 they speak…
  121. i think if XX dunno how to blog properly she shld stick to handwritten diary.
    c’mon la, though its her blog and she can type anything she wants, its public and everyone in the world has the access to it.
    She has to learn some basic respect and treat pple how she wants to be treated. dun later at the end of the day offend pple already den come back whining saying everyone’s turning the table against her.
    Grooow uup man
  122. i don’t understand…
    how can XX be chosen as Best Asian Blog 2004 and 2005 when she’s such a b***h?!?!
    oh my…kenny…u rule her!!!
  123. Quoted pope:
    Arriving at KLIA
    Taxi: “Mana pergi?”
    Taxi: *stepped out and opened up the boot/trunk*
    Taxi: “MANA PERGI?”
    Taxi: “Do you know how to get to SS2?”
    Me: *This is just great, taxi driver is asking passenger for direction!*
    Welcome to KL!
    Just a few comments:
    Firstly, KLIA airport taxis are prepaid, meaning you pay first prior to getting into the taxi and once you reach your destination, you don’t have to pay any extra cent. You don’t pay by meter. Secondly, like sam said, there are no kancil airport taxis (nor kancil public taxis). Thirdly, it is possible that the taxi driver may not know how to get to somewhere cuz mind you, KL and Selangor is much larger than Singapore and therefore, more areas and routes to remember.
    To pakkadok:
    Common sense would tell one not to fight fire with fire cuz in the end, the fire will only get worse and it’s nonsensical. I understand that you’re insulted by her remarks. And yes I agree that just because of the bad-mannered people she encountered in KL, she shouldn’t generalized people as a whole (Note: Me = Msian chinese). But pakkadok, what makes you any different from her if you also generalize singaporean chineses as well? It’ll only degrade ourselves and our dignity representing Malaysians.
    To XX:
    Same message. Fighting fire with fire leads to nowhere. Yes, you do have freedom of opinion and thought. But by law, making any racist remark in public is an offense and you are accountable and responsible for what you write. I think the ultimate issue is R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Calling Muslims “pig” is a very serious (and probably the ultimate) offence. Their religious beliefs demand that women cover up and it is their right to practice their faith. Why must we condemn/mock them for that?
    Is apologizing that hard?
  124. well i careless abt singaporeans n their opinions abt malaysia. the majority of them live in pigeon coops….can u imagine what a small box can do to a person’s mind. emmm…i live in a double-storey, 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom 25×70 house….that only cost 130,000 ringgit…2 cars…n one can easily buy lunch chicken + fish + vegetables in taman chempaka ipoh for only 2 ringgit n 50 sen…singaporeans can say what they wanna say….to me they r just ppl living in pigeon coops…how in the world can 1 live in a flat the size of my master bedroom.
