kennysia.com debuts on Technorati Top 100

After more than 3 weeks of constant travelling (Saratok/KL/Shanghai/Perth), I’m finally back home in Kuching, ready for a life a little more stable and routine.
I still miss Nicole. 🙁

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Since when did Malaysia and Singapore churn out so many holier-art-thou Ephraim Loys?
I do not agree with many of Wendy’s opinion, including her recent diatribe. But I’m the one who sponsored her premium Haloscan comment boxes when she switched to her new template. How ah? Are you all gonna boycott kennysia.com now?

She’s a bad girl. Not by a long shot is she a positive role model for society. Neither are Britney Spears, Jolin Tsai, Paris Hilton or even Angelina Jolie (UN Ambassador/blood swapper/chain smoker/casual sex advocate).
My point is, bad role models exist everywhere. Impressionable young kids should not be left unsupervised reading websites like Xiaxue, SarongPartyGirl, kennysia.com, or any other blogs out there for that matter. The onus is on the parents to inform, educate or shield their kids away from bad stuff from the Internet, not hers.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I wouldn’t even realise if I wasn’t told about it, but I woke up this morning and saw my own stupid face staring back at me on blog search engine Technorati’s Top 100. No shit Sherlock, kennysia.com is the 93rd most linked-to blog in the whole wide world!

Depending on how you look at it, this could either be good news for the Malaysian blogosphere (first Malaysian blog to be in the Technorati Top 100), or Travesty of the Century (that blogger is unfortunately, me). I can feel the burden on my shoulders already. If you hear anyone referring to me as the face of the Malaysian blogosphere, I’m sorry I wasn’t born better looking.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go change into a bigger underwear.

  1. You make us proud kenny! But now u have a great responsibility to the nation…the face and the ambassador of malaysia!! Dont worry about your face..your nipple is great! Malaysia Boleh haha joking

  2. Kenny,
Those seats are reserved for handicapped, pregnant and old people but when there is no seat and those seats are empty I do sit there…but I do give it up when an old person or pregnant woman and handicapped person comes along. Surely there is nothing wrong with that!
Just a thot. I am sure the rest who travel by LRT do so too…..is that wrong?

  3. mahai that sutpid great power comes great resposibility line is GETTING on my crazy wacky nerves…
it’s nice to be irresponsible sometimes, but there’re too many self-appointed watchdogs in this part of the world.

  4. sera, no that’s not wrong. 🙂 I was just trying to put the OTHER situation in a different perspective, that’s all.
lionel, I think most of Jeff Ooi’s readers don’t own a website and therefore is unable to link to him. That explains the lower Technorati rank he’s getting.
minishorts, tell me about it. That line is just an excuse to set a double standard in the blogosphere. Spiderman 1 is so 2002.

  5. Agree with Alynna and Sera. Occupying a seat meant for the disabled is different from using a parking space or toilet – you can easily vacate the seat if a disabled/elderly person boards the bus/train.

  6. hrm. there are many ways to look at this though. there are times, when her posts have to be read twice to see that she means no harm with regards to certain issues.
similarly, if you are one of the affected groups of people she is talking about, aka, the handicap people, few would read past a certain point, and many would be reading it in the context they feel was against them… aka “why can’t able bodied people leave our toilets and chairs and what nots alone?”.
it’s not that i am sitting on the fence coz i don’t know which side to take, but with friends that are handicapped, i can see where peter is coming from, albeit i believe the reaction from kimberly and peter is just a littler.. too much.
why send petition left and right? why start a campaign? it’s her blog, she was talking about one or a few related incidents whereby both parties were in the wrong (imo anyways)and things could be sorted out easily otherwise.
instead they picked her the fact that she used the word “handicap” and her reaction to handicap’s rights.
as far as i am concern though, the rights that handicaps have are the same as normal people, because that is exactly how most of them wanted the government and normal people to treat them: have pavements we can walk/wheelchair on, have toilets where we can have space to turn around in, etc.
then if that’s the case, be expected to be treated like a normal person: toilet in use, lock the door. if not, just say “oi, got someone here” not hard is it?
then again, the way she put it through was a little callous, so i guess callous > point = misunderstanding and angryzor people. 🙁

  7. quoted [ agree with sera on this one. If there’s no one on the train who’s rightly ‘entitled’ to the seat, then we might as well occupy it. ]
Then what about toilet for the disabled ? doesn’t the same thing apply?
Honestly, u mean u guys never ever use a toilet meant for disabled? ..never.? ever?

  8. Wah! According to Business Opportunity Weblog (Powered by Tecnorati) Your blog is worth : $1,016,736.54 in USD ler. Not bad ler, made us proud :)! Now I just waiting for the Forbes-Bloggers kinda list to come out, LOL!

  9. Hmm, Technorati ar.
Well, if we wanna put Kenny at the #1 spot, all we have to do is insert as many links to his site as possible, from as many sites as possible.

  10. Panda is right. not all singaporeans think they are superior. myself have encountered those tried singaporeans – those ones who studied and lived in singapore but born in malaysia. firstly they claimed themselves as singaporeans then later they will tell u that they were born in malaysia.
i have few singaporean friends. one of them think the world of singapore while the others are relly down to earth people.
when i celebrated my friend’s graduation last month, we had supper at northbridge and her friend’s dad paid for our supper- we were sitting at different table. we were all speechless. not saying the friend’s father is rich or anything. it was very nice of them and well they are singaporeans.
so dont judge the singaporeans just because of XX’s blog. she did go overboard. like she said, it is her blog and she said watever she wants. no point blasting her. not worth the trouble. n of course her supporters stand by her side and blasted those criticize her and saying how the whole thing is getting out of hand. Peter has his right to defend the disable toilet issue. he is also trying to make a point there.

  14. The meaning of reserved means only they, the disabled, can use the seats. Yet if you see someone who is not disabled on these seats do you tell them to get off? I do not think so. It is not legally wrong to place your arse on the seats, neither is it morally right to ask them to go away if there is no pregnaut ladies or elderly around. So tell me if the train has no elderly or pregnaut women, and you are darn tired, dun tell me you will not seat on the seats because of a stupid sign..

  15. Blogs – The Best Thing Since Jerry Springer

I love Blogs. Unfortunately, not many people are able to share my passion, because most of whom I talk to think a ‘blog’ is that huge, floating lump that stubbornly remains after you flush your morning sit-down. So for the benefit of those…

  16. just check the list, Kenny has been pushed out from the list…hopefully his site will be listed again…so support him!!

  17. Short stint at the top Kenny, but you’ll be back up there before you can say ‘coconut’, I’m sure. You’re doing us proud — way to go!

  18. It’s not whether we r proud of u. If blogging is something u enjoy, just blog wateva u want. Regardless of whether it’s the best blog. That’s my opinion.

  19. go kenny! great to see things with you and nicole still going aight 🙂 is perth weather the same as melbourne’s, cos it’s mad over here. Stupid raindrops keep falling on my head the days I decide it’s sunny enough to not bring an umbrella or a jacket *!@#$%*
poor you, always torn in the middle betw XX and her critics. But you’re being a great friend in supporting her (i think?). I personally think she should have been a tad more tactful, but whats done is done. Her crappy KL post annoyed the heck outta me tho. Maybe when I go to Singapore these hols, I’ll blog about my crappy/great experience there and see how she responds. >;)

  20. while i was in australia, i realised how badly First of all, I apologise for writing a long comment. This is my first comment and probably my last.
while i was in australia, i realised how badly educated some of us malaysians are. For the first time i noticed how in an extremely busy shopping centre would always have disabled parking empty. No one in their right mind would park their cars there. Forward to malaysia, take a look at jusco carpark (incidentally the only people that i know that actually thought about disabled parking), and see how it is taken. Wait, not only taken, but that illegal parking spot beside it? it is taken as well. it was a cultural shock to me. i spent half my life in malaysia and the other half in australia, now back in malaysia for good.
i can honestly say that i had many bad habits, eg throwing out rubbish through the car windows, not wearing seat belt, etc as i was brought up thinking that though it is a bad habit, it is a social norm for us to do it. forward to australia, do you think you dare throw rubbish out of the window? you will be known as a social pariah.
OK, I am sure most of us would agree that using a toilet meant for disabled is wrong especially when there is a handicapped person out there waiting. What about seats reserved for handicaps? Heck, even if there is no sign that says reserved for handicapped, I would gladly give up my seat for a handicapped person, a pregnant lady, an old lady or uncle or even a mother with her young child/children. I think it is the most gentleman thing to do. I don’t need a sign to teach me the proper thing to do. If there is a sign, I would feel utmost disgusted with people who would sit on it without even thinking. It is like advertising to the world, “look I have no brain to consciously think of how I should behave in public.”
On a separate issue, you know, Kenny, I have been silently reading your blog even before your overnight surged in popularity with the SPG issue. I remember you said that you have two options on how your blog should be. One a truly personal and family/friends type blog. Two to create a funny blog whom everyone would love to tune to. I stayed on to read on a daily basis as what you have written is quite witty even though I have always hated your guts for sounding “too singaporean” than a true blue malaysian. I realised it is how we are all brought up that shaped us. I was in all four corners of australia for 15 years, perth, melbourne, sydney and brisbane, living no less than 2 years in each cities.
I grew up in johor bahru, the border town across the causeway. If you have lived here long enough, you will realise how much you hate singaporean guts as a whole. Individually some of my best friends are singaporeans. I have relatives in both the eastern states of malaysia, and through their eyes, I noticed how much they admire singapore and how it is so well developed, etc. The problem with singaporeans is that they think they know a lot, actually they do know a lot, but whether they know or not, they will try to portray themselves as superior.
If you look at how xiaxue portray her freedom of speech theory, and take another look at how westerners portray their freedom of speech, then you realise how big a difference they are altogether. If there is a malay idiom that can truly portray xiaxue, it is “seperti katak dibawa tempurung”. I doubt she has actually lived and absorbed the western culture to appreciate the true meaning of freedom of speech. Some people paid with their lives so that others can talk freely.
She talks about how people with disability should fight for themselves and now she doesn’t allow peter tan to fight his. By being a PUBLIC person, she has a moral obligation to teach people the right thing. By her continued screaming and wailing, and how spoilt she can be. In psychiatric terms, I would not hesitate to brand her a narcissistic, immature, manic depressive person.
When faced with a problem in her recent anti-malaysian posting, she decided to “pretend” to stop writing. Then knowing her fame would be taken away from her, she continued. She refuses to listen to bad comments (fuck, where the hell is freedom of speech?????). Come on, even my dogs IQ suddenly seemed higher than hers.
An endorsement deal was given to her, yes she has been lucky and blessed and she should be aware that it can be taken away from her. Who pities kate moss now? I still received my salary every month, I still go Australia twice a year, life goes on. Do you see Kate Moss wailing and crying? Nah, she knew she deserved it in a way. She is a public person, and if she doesn’t behave, things will be taken away. Here you have Xiaxue portraying the worst in human. Behaving like a spoilt kid crying to her mummy after the kid next door has taken away her toys because she was showing off. Don’t tell me you think she wasn’t showing off to the world about her endorsement deals??
Stubbornness can only bring her further downfall. She wants to use harsh words on malaysians and handicaps, then she should face the firing squad. I will continue to log on to read xiaxue blog to see how stupid she can get (yes I know I will be adding that 1 extra visitor hence continue to help her to her path of stardom). I truly despise people like her.

  21. All of should just learn to love one country and that is of course JAPAN! Wipe off all this nationality issues for God’s sake. It’s not like anyone’s gonna be able to change one nation’s mindset. If you don’t like them, easy, just back away. You’ll be rid of all the ‘ignorance’ and ‘arrogance’. Come to think of it which country doesn’t show the least bit of both? Except Japan that is!!!
Oh, I’m not Jap in case you wondering. I’m Sarawakian. God bless Sarawak~

  22. Wendy’s problem doesn’t lie with her posts or her opinions, but most her problems are caused by her own attitude..
Previously, if u still remember her post regarding her KL trip, it really caused Malaysian readers upset with her opinion on our country. IF she sincerely apologise or maybe just post a very simple sentence, “still, there are other good aspects in malaysia” etc, then she would never make some Malaysian bloggers to ‘smash’ over her.. i still remember ur famous SPG controversy, in which after a while, u posted a sorry statement for the readers.. so can u see the difference rite now? Maybe i can say she is too arrogant to realise her own mistake..
Even, after she was dumped by her endorsement companies, she still do not realise her own mistakes and at the same time, she still make her not-so-clever opinion on Peter, which i thought is very immature.. i do believe she never ask to become a role model for the youngster but do bear in mind that it’s a great honour to be unofficially appointed as a role model.. Not many people have the chance to do it especially at her age..
I think it is very unfair for her because of one post, she lost her income but in my opinion, it is a lesson for her.. Currently, she is a writer and thus, she needs to know the consequence of every single word that she writes. This is the basic knowledge a writer needs to know..
If u want to know why some people hate her, it’s not because of her look, her post, jealousy or any other stuffs, it is all because of her own attitude.. Kenny, if u want the evidence, then have a look at urself during ur controversy SPG post n how u deal with the situation n have a look on her how she deal with her KL-trip n disabled-ppl situations.. U will know what is mature n what is childish

  23. I’ve never been able to understand the fuss abt XX’s blog at all (can’t believe ppl even endorse her). Her level of arrogance, ignorance and vanity is just unbelievable.
    1. She moderates the comments on her blog because she said “It’s MY BLOG”. Fair enough. But if she does that, quit trying to preach about the freedom of speech. She’s not giving this freedom to her readers. Talk about walking contradiction.
    2. The last time I bothered going to her site was during that M’sia vs Singapore “War of Words” that went out of hand about 2 months ago. Can’t believe how bimbotic her site looks now, and the arrogance of her saying “Everyone’s Reading It”.
    3. She actually thinks that it’s wrong for handicapped people to have their so-called “rights”, that all taxpayers should have equal rights to use things specially reserved for the handicapped ppl. Those are not “rights” in the first place. It’s called being CONSIDERATE to others who are not so fortunate like her to be strutting around in bimbotic-looking heels. I hope when she grows old in the future and needs to use toilets for handicapped next time, she’ll read back on what she had wrote now.
    4. She actually thinks her 3-inch make-up makes her look pretty. In actual fact, it’s all overdone (fake-looking lashes, too much blush etc)… making it look like she tried to put on stage make-up instead. Even with so much effort already, she still need to photoshop her own photos *roll eyes*
I bet XX biggest wish is for world peace :p

  24. oh btw, i m reading the blogs of xx, spg, and you and others unsupervised. how leh?
i guess these things are beyond control.
    and regarding xx’s maturity:
as a kid, i still think maturity is a very ambiguous thing.
    criticisms are hard to take.

  25. Dear mic,
i am sorry you actually think all singaporeans think they are superior. perhaps you never had the chance to find the few of us who have low self esteem, and others who have no confidence, and yet more who have committed suicide because they felt they are worth nothing.
i haven’t known a person who tries to portray themselves as superior by hoping off a 24 storey building. but i will keep that in mind the next time someone suicides.
    thanks.
    cheryl, a singaporean in australia.

  26. oh, and by the way, my mum was from muar, one of the various johore towns.
and my relatives are all across the border too. now i know, what one of my cousins in johor bahru truly thinks about me: she hates my guts.
    thanks for the enlightenment

  35. i must say my posting was a bit ambigious. i apologise for any inconvenience caused.
i quote, “I grew up in johor bahru, the border town across the causeway. If you have lived here long enough, you will realise how much you hate singaporean guts as a whole. Individually some of my best friends are singaporeans.”
JB/singapore is a sort of brotherly tie which can never be severed no matter what. But for those true blue JB people who grew up here for the last 20 years, you cannot help but feel resentment for singaporeans who come to our country and try to teach us how to be civil. You might not have witness it, but i have. I grew up knowing singaporeans look down on us. But there are (not minority, in fact quite a number) that are truly friendly and supportive, but the fact that the entire milk bottled was spoilt by the few droplets of ink (malay quote : nila setitik rosak susu sebelanga).
the media even make full use of propaganda to tell singaporeans how bad JB is. LKY said we are a den of thieves and buglars. Even once, a driver who drives a toyota picnic and was hammered by a bus went back singapore to tell the media how evil JB are. Only to be exposed of the truth that it was she who cut queue and wanted to blatantly overtake people that got her into trouble. She was charged by malaysian police later for dangerous driving.
even the causeway issues. Singaporeans view malaysians out to cause trouble, but they have not realise that they too have not been a sensitive neighbour.
xx is only a minority in singapore, the lesser educated (can’t believe she is a writer) who possess only a diploma. But she holds true to what a lot of heartlanders in singapore feel about malaysia. I personally have heard sad stories from my singaporeans counterpart how some of them openly said “malaysians are country bumpkins”. it is a bit like HK pre-97 when they called chinamen “tai lok yan”. insulting, but do they care?

  36. YOU’RE DA MANNNNN! your remarks always hit the nail on the head. and in your witty own way, you manage to be funny/funnier than summer snow w/o being unnecessarily controversial. snow may be more famous, but kenny is definitely more popular. i’m not anti-snow; but just find it hard to ‘click’ with her messages sometimes. (it’s probably the age. i’m much closer to your age than hers)

  37. Its the content of a blog that makes the difference. If u talk nonsense or blue, you will be bond with numerous followers. But if you talk right, be prepared for minimum audience. As much as a liking blog attracts, a hate blog could also garner numerous readers. It also depends on which part of the globe, the blog culturally resides. The sequence rating is by no means, an accurate measure for a ‘popularity’ blog. Uniquely Kenny’s local flavour is still in my bookmark menu, regardless of its rating i.e.. Tks guys.

  38. All govts are morons. Otherwise people wont be divided and exude hates. We sud just reach and love each other regardless of borders.

  39. kenny, sigh, you have A LOT to do to catch up with XX (she’s at top forty, maybe?).
huey: saying “everyone’s reading it” is not called arrogance. if it is, then saying Kenny’s balls are huge is called arrogance too. maybe you don’t have much sense of humour.
cris: didn’t you read XX’s entry CAREFULLY? like, word by word perhaps? she does enjoy her trip afterall. don’t tell me getting what she wants (espadrilles, etc) is a sad thing? and she clearly said that not the whole Malaysia sucks. THE PEOPLE THERE HAPPENED TO BE RUDE TO HER.

  40. I am pretty sure it is reserve for Pregnant women and the handicapped. if no such kind of people around, why not make use of it? When they come, do sek-zou, make way for them. 🙂

  41. i was browsing through xiaxue’s comments and chanced upon this;
” Honey, we all know that malaysians are just like, canadians vs americans. just the other ‘lower’ grade of us.
no fret. suntec’s diva nails gives FREE cosmopolitans on thursdays! too bad Kl doesn’t have that.
it costs like what? 30RM for a glass of cosmo there. isn’t it sad.

Goodness gracious me. Singaporeans. After like what, so many years of supposed CIVILISATION there are actually such mentality running around. As a Malaysian, instead of being angered I actually pitied them. Poor, poor singaporeans.

  42. haha congrats.
btw … i think xiaxue and you have a similar sense of humour. you guys are funny and many singaporeans + malaysians can relate to your sense of humour. however, she’s attacked way more than you are .. cos she ain’t as tactful and people take her literally .. word for word. its unfortunate that ppl gotta make life so tough for y’all. they should remember that these are just light, frothy blogs .. read for fun …

-I wonder if KL/JB/Malaysia is “SO SAD”, why did they even bother coming over? :p
-Thank God there are lots of nice frenly singaporeans to offset the bad impression that the few immature bad apples (like XX and some of her loyal supporters) give.
