Price Increase

I’m a little bit peeved about this.

The past few months hadn’t been a good time for the average income-earning Malaysian. Everything’s gone expensive now. You open up the newspapers these days, you see the same old shit in the headlines: “xxx price set to rise”, “things costlier”, “new fees added”. EVERY DAY something’s gone up in price. EVERY SINGLE FREAKIN’ DAY, without fail.
Today it’s the petrol price increase, tomorrow electricity price increase, next day air ticket price increase. Then after that we have sugar price increase, rice price increase, drinks price increase, kolo mee price increase, simi lanjiao also price increase.
Sien lah everyday price increase not bored meh? Bastards.

It’s the same story everytime. Price increased, you get some big shot coming out, says a few words, tells us to “change our lifestyle” and accept the reality. The Opposition starts a peaceful protest, the police beats up some people for some reason, and then everyone forgets about it and returns to normal once again. Rinse and repeat.
The worst part about all this is that there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s quite sad really. We are being screwed over and there’s nothing we can do about it. Absolutely nothing.Everytime something’s gone up in price, you open up your legs wide, invite people to fuck you, then give them a can of beer after they’re done and say “Thank you, please fuck again.”
Here’s what gonna happen if the price of another public service like say, toilets increase.

Toilet Price Rise By 10c
Kuala Lumpur: The price for public toilet usage is set to increase from 20 cents to 30 cents per entry effective Monday.
“This is to keep up with the ever-increasing cost of operation, including water and electricity bills,” said a statement prepared by the Public Toilet Alliance (PTA). “We really have no choice.”

PM Datuk Adalah Bladder-Wee has explained that there’s nothing much the government can do about it. “The price of public toilets in Malaysia is too low.” He urged the public to accept the reality and change their lifestyle.
“Sometimes when you feel like you need to go, you don’t actually need to go. For example, instead of paying 20 cents, I hold my pee for a for while longer before finding the nearest 5-star hotel to relieve myself.”
Meanwhile outside a public toilet in Waterfront Kuching, a group of very angry protesters led by Opposition Leader Wang Toh Pi has vowed to stage a piss-ful demonstration.

“We shall not take this shit sitting down!” said Mr Wang, trembling uncontrollably. “This is unacceptable! I have not pee for 3 days already because it is so expensive! My comrades and I will not relieve ourselves until the government rolls back the price hike!”
30 minutes later the riot police shot him down with a water cannon. When interviewed, a police officer who wished to remain unnamed described the situation as desperate. “Mau kencing juga mau bising-bising. Cis, buat kacau saja.”

Another price increase, and the same shit is gonna start all over again.

So much have changed since then.

169 Replies to “Price Increase”

  1. I’ve heard all the price increasing news from the radio.. And, the funny thing is, a lot of medias are saying that we should cut down in sugar intake, eat less rice (maybe can eat mee or kentang?), don’t go out tat much thus low petrol consumes, maybe take bus or so on..
All sorts of idiotic suggestions… but never a proper decent way of solving problems..

  2. M’sia Government is damn weird.. They increase everything.. But the only thing that they didn’t increase is their knowledge.. Damn stupid.

  3. When I read the “piss-ful demonstration” word, the image of 10,000 males directing their water cannons(otherwise known as cocks) at the police mysteriously appeared in my brains.
The police may have more powerful water cannons, but our natural water cannons inflict more mental damage.
We should all show our piss-ful-ness !!

  4. pig head government…never consider about their citizen…
increase everything…we pay more they get more…we suffer they better…SNMCCB

  5. yea we can do NOTHING bout it…ask us to change our lifestyle, we’ll change unless Abdullah Bodohwi change together with us..use kancil lah him to go meetings…then drink milo without sugar lah..they continue to piss the citizen, they’ll pay for it when it comes to the next election.

  6. Okay, I’m not sure if this sounds out of place, but don’t let those who complain and bitch about you bring you down. 🙂 It’s not fair of them to expect you to write something that makes every single person laugh, or whatever it is their crazy expectations are. There’s a personal element in blogging, and as much as they think it’s easy to please everyone, they’re obviously wrong.
    Jia you! *wink*

  7. wahahahahaha, pissing is a right, not a priviledge, hey, some shopping malls already charge us 30sen for pissing leh

  8. Erm….I think City Square Jb toilets are 50cent per entry for a long time already… **free toilet papers lah**…haha Prices keep increasing but sad to say salary never… $%#@!^&…sigh…

  10. lol
I think Sarawak Plaza is still charging 20 cents.
I don’t know. If i need to go pee, i will just head over to holiday inn.

  11. Wrong wrong wrong !!! u people are misunderstanding what our adorable goverment’s statement, G always advise rakyat change lifestlye, that means we can peed any way instead of public toilet whenever go out for shopping or take a journey….

  12. ya.. the rise in price.. sometimes.. very inconvieniet.. just say someone only got 20 cents in their pocket then later say 20 cents, suddenly we see the price sudden rise to 30 cents.. then no enough money to pay.. but also if we don pay money enough since every price rise, the toilet cleaner don want to clean already.. that’s what happen at one of the shopping malls..

  13. Some places in kl is already charging 30cents for the toilet. And the toilet is damn kau dirty and run down.
I don’t mind paying if the toilets are clean and there’s supply of toilet rolls and liquid soap.

  14. All sorts of diseases can be cured by drinking your own urine daily. Maybe free “Pissin’ Huts” can be set up in public places to collect urine & turn it into medicinal products.
“… not only is urine a sterile body compound (purer than distilled water), but that it is now recognized that urine contains literally thousands of compounds. Among the urine constituents mentioned in Dr. Free’s treatise is a list of nutrients that will knock your socks off. Here’s just a few…
Alanine, Arginine, Ascorbic acid, Allantoin, Amino acids, Bicarbonate, Biotin, Calcium, Creatinine, Cystine, DHEA, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Folic acid, Glucose, Glutamic acid, Glycine, Inositol, Iodine, Iron, Lysine, Magnesium, Manganese, Melatonin, Methionine, Nitrogen, Ornithane, Pantothenic acid, Phenylalaline, Phosphorus, Potassium, Proteins, Riboflavin, Tryptophan, Tyrosine, Urea, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Zinc/
Pergonal is a fertility drug made from human urine. 1992 sales of this drug were reported at $855 million while it costs a patient $1400 a month to consume. Urokinase, a urine ingredient, is used in drug form and sold as a miracle blood clot dissolver for unblocking coronary arteries. Urea, medically proven to be one of the best moisturizers in the world, is packaged in expensive creams and lotions.” source:http://www.biomedx.com/urine/)

  15. Lol… that was funny post. Had me cracking up.. Though I do have to say that inflation is inevitable and the ministers are right in saying that our sugar/price etc etc is underpriced. It really is.. If not why do you people smuggle sugar from Malaysia into Thailand? Why you think Singapore government ban Singaporeans from coming into Malaysia without at least 1/2 of their petrol tank full? Our country’s problem is not so much that price is increasing for everything but that our salaries have not been increasing as fast as the price increase. In the 1980s a fresh engineer graduate earned $1300. 20 years later they are only earning $500 more where else a bowl of laksa has increased from 20cents to $3.80 (KL).

  16. For the retard citizens, they will forget about it after the S.O.B Gov builds another resort. Large scale building or entertainment center can immensely increase citizen’s moral & loyalty…Well, most of the RTS games do XD

  17. increase $$ go for toilet never ming, but the toilet condition so bloody sux!!! no toilet paper! smelly condition, wet floor and dirty..dirty toilet bowl..
aiya…really ridiculous la..but i rather go 5-star hotel washroom then..walk bit far lo

  18. it is da fact the investor have runaway due to the stupid policies held to protect our vanurable share market..with no other choice in hand…wat gov try to do now is “gorek” from rakyat and ask rakyat to pay for every single freaking leak hole in they “big pocket” policies….and they way to govern deosen’t seem effective so they try to increase everything so can “sikit-sikit lama lama jadi bukit”…ppl say he’s good, corruption is few now after he is onboard…i say yeah oscar adward he earn but corruption is more worst than ever…until rakyat need to bey the price….

  19. kenny ask da governemt to increase every single freaking toilet fee from 20 cent to 2 ringgit like wat KLCC toilet did tat should be another “BOLEHLAND proud record and on da other hand our dear MP will have they hand full of cash in no time….good huh?? by da way da future of franchaise business will be franchaise out da toilet and i garantee u…u be more success than any MCD or KFC or SUGARBUN outlet..good idea huh?

  20. Hehe piss on the floor at mall la, sure give free after that! hehe~ it is really that bad in msia now?? T_T sound huge….

  21. not long before this MP JERAI workshiper will spell this to ur face.(blogger, commenter etc)
“kalau u tak suka kencing dan bayar kat sini kau boleh keluar dari MALAYSIA dan cari satu tempat yang kau suka untuk KENCING dan BERak ”
mainly indonesia, singapore, philipine, taiwan, hong kong, thailand, vietnam or even as far as china
YET another proudly workshiping quote which should be record in BOLEHLAND BOOK OF RECORD by our beloved MP JERAI who is non educated and miss leading….
@#$%& to those who WORKSHIP THIS QUOTE ESPECIALLY THOSE M*L*Y ,PLZ SHUT DA F**KUP ALREADY cause u need to noe one thing MALAYSIA IS belong to all MALAYSIAN not urs u idiot…

  22. If they increase the price to pee..
Is the quality of the toilet going to be increased?
Hence keeping the washroom constantly clean and filled with toilet paper, despite the people can can’t pee properly?
If people can pee and use the facilities of the toilet properly can we not increase the price of the washrooms?
(for instruction on how to use toilet facilities refer to kenny’s toilet instruction post)

  23. It’s inevitable.. this recent spate of inflation will see the “rakyat” tightening up on their purse strings.. which will lead to interest rates changing, which will lead eventually to an economic slump, which should be around 2007/2008 ( a slump is bound to occur approximately every decade, and the last one was the 97 crisis )
What pisses me off however, is how the government are asking us to take public transports?? Our transport system is way inferior compared to foreign cities like say, New York or London.. It d be near impossible to reach our workplaces in time.. Can you believe a minister even suggested cycling to work like the Dutch?? Wat a numbskull, cycling to work in this Malaysian weather?? Easy for them to say, sitting in their Perdana’s being escorted by outriders…

  24. kenny! not the PM’s fault all the prices increase. Why must go write his name like that??!? Take it back!

  25. Only you can blog like this, Kenny Sia. LOL! I’m afraid if I do the same, none of my readers would get the joke at the end! Good idea by the way. 🙂

  26. Currently its hard to say as the market is imperfect. One way is to get some party whether ruling or not to adopt free market principles. It would solve a lot of problems. Ah heck this is a sweeping opinion will not try to address the full implications, yes there are down-sides to it but once adapted to it will be much healthier imho, assuming the public is weaned off subsidies. Provision for hardship can be provided by other means I guess. But tough situations require tough solutions. Kinda like when you get sick you don’t mind the nasty, awful medicine that may or not make you better. SHRUG. Right now society in general is whiney. Whine, whine, whine. We do have a choice we just have to see it. Whether to be in a particular country or not, whether to put someone in office or not, whether you should stand for office yourself, or whether to just do what Ada Bladder asks you to do, hold it in.

  27. Kenny Sia: A year ago today, I was named Blogger of the Year by the PPS community.
So much have changed since then.
Kenna Sai: Yes, indeed. Now that you are more ‘lui bin’, reading your website make me cry instead of laugh. Sad…

  28. cien liao this gov’t. everyday must increase something. gaji no increase some more. say economi no gud. create more jobs lah. where our sarawak oil & gas money go? went to build half started bridge in jb. never think first before start to build. now dirty toilets fee oso must increase. toilets at parkson and sarawak plaza so lousy. so smelly. 20cts oledi not worth to pay what more to say 30cts!! SIAW AH! have better toilets first lah before increase!!!

  29. The fact is when petrol prices go up, everything goes up coz the cost of doing business goes up. Everything needs transportation. Electricity generation needs petrol…..so, we will get endless craps about changing lifestyle…plant your own vege next and rear your own chicken, pigs, cows or whatever you want to eat….

  30. “Right now society in general is whiney. Whine, whine, whine.”
yoo~~bro whine whine whine is because we give u so many taxes money where does da money go??how u tend to invest it?? how many percent for society contribution?? how many percent is ur big ass pocket money?? how many percent skim cepat kaya?? how many percent losses?? u give me all those answer and we all garantee stop whining expecially chinese and indian…
    NOW QUESTION IS CAN U??
HOW SUPPOSE WE NOT WHINE U TELL ME ,MONOPOLY BUSINESS CAN DECLARE LOSSES….BIG ASS LOSSES WE TALKING…..have u heard of SAVE A COMPANY POLICIES…NOPE..hUHH…TATS FUNNY….CAuSE TAT IS Y TAT MAKE US ALL GO WHINE WHINE WHINE..
TNB,MAS HICOM all used to get this BAbe…WHO DO U THINK THEY SUCK DA MONEY FROM??

  31. In such a fucking country myself, I pity all other Malaysians. When is wages gonna increase? Not in near future, when is oil price increasing? Soon.. Wtf,in such a third world country, life seems terrible.
Toilets in Singapore are free btw, unlike Malaysia, pay 20 cents to get into filthy toilets. Wth!
We all should protest.. We are nt the dolls of the Govt, what they want to do, they can! Hell to the Govt.

  32. um… i know all of you are like anti-govt right now because of their seemingly ‘stupid’ implementations. But i’m sure these people have actually learned enough economics to know that it is in the country’s best interest to increase the price of a few goods.
you guys may complain now but in a few years time you might just find that these price increase would have done a lot of citizens good.
I’m not bothered to explain the up side effects of price increase, but please… don’t simply make underlying assumptions that the government is ‘crazy, money sucking… blah blah blah’ especially if you don’t know one shit about economics.

  33. I STRONGLY agree with you that all this shit is happening again and again, everything increase again and again without fail.. what in the world is the govt thinking? have they ever think for the low-income citizen? are they gonna stop increasing petrol for example? i dont think so..damn them

  34. i think this whole issue is totally out of point esp the toilet part. like hello? many other countries’ shopping centres toilets are all free and you give me crap that i ahve no choice and the operation fees are far too high? that’s just making lame excuses.

  35. Anonymous : you cant stop corruption 🙂 it’s everywhere, you’ll even corrupt a police if you can 🙂
what ap said is true, if there would be an increase in salary for all m’sian, you think you’ll do better off? i tell you, the higher your salary is, the higher the price will increase
and what do you expect a RM400 per month salary ah sim would do, clean that toilet till its spick and span? come on la, it’s only 10 cent, not gonna kill u

  36. Just a question Kenny, why is it in your every blog there’s always a sexual innuendos or connotation or whatever you wanna called it?? I know people says SEX SELLS, but yours is just so…..lame. I do like your blog but the more and more I read it, it enhances my impression that you’re a sex maniac (even your face fits the profile). It’s disturbing!! Not everything is about sex, you know, oh wait… You’re a GUY, of course sex is on your mind 24/7. Some things just cannot be changed! Uggh!!
By the way, the lot of you who hate Malaysian Govt and you KENNY who have the nerve to insult our PM’s name like that, well all of you can pack your bag and migrate to other country. The lesser people like you in Malaysia the better!! It’s OK to voice out your dissatisfaction if it is intellectually done. But your writing Kenny on this subject makes me wonder whether you have the thinking level equivalent to a 5 year old!! Over and out!!

  37. to Just_Me,
If you don’t like his blog, fcuk off then, there is needless for you to point out why you don’t like, because, people don’t give a shit about it. It makes you look like a fool only. You are just like a girl, when your mouth (in this case, your finger) said that you don’t like, and your finger just can’t help it to type in http://www.kennysia.com on your address bar.
    grow up kid.

“make underlying assumptions that the government is ‘crazy, money sucking… blah blah blah’ especially if you don’t know one shit about economics.”
HOw much u F**king noe economics?? DUN BULLSHIT DA CRAP lahh can ahh??

  42. Well you know why wages remain so low despite inflation? By right wages should increase proportionately with cost of living to maintain a comfortable one. HOWEVER, the supply and demand law comes into effect. The labour market is flooded with over 60,000 ‘graduates’ per year. And it is maintained by the employers that MOST of these ‘graduates’ are of low quality. So where do all these low quality ‘graduates’ come from? And then where to find so many jobs to give to such ‘graduates’?
Once there are more jobs than employable people, wages will start to rise, especially if its white collar jobs. This is not the case, sadly.

  43. I don’t agree with Just_me, first of all ‘all of you can pack your bag and migrate to other country’? Very matured. So typical non-Bumi solution!!! The answer is not to RUN AWAY, it’s to elect a more credible, intelligent, capable and transparent government. Is the Opposition providing this? If not, don’t vote for them too. Let’s get some capable people to step up. Kenny Sia for MP!!!

  44. Haha! At least in Sarawak, your newspaper calls it a ‘price increase’. In S’pore, we label it an ‘increase in living standard’ or ‘the price index moving up’ or ‘inflation’. Whatever we call it, such news is usually accompanied by reports of workers’ salaries increasing too.
But strangely, the pay-rise and inflation rate usually the same leh… Does that mean ‘back to square one’???

  45. tai ko.. tat is y i say JUSTIFICATION…NOT SOME BINBO HEAD KEEP SAYING SOME SIDE EFFECT ON INCREASING SALARY..
BUT as u can observe this is not da case for WEST malaysia…BACK TO SQUARE ONE DOESN”T exist here man…u have MARCH 3 on inflation but sound speed on pay-rise…and there is no average salary range to protect those who work as blue collar TAT y i state JUSTIFICATION needed..BUT some BIMBO take it as AN ANTI-GOVT suggestion….u can question back da toilet ah sim earn RM400..i can tell u if u give her a justification on pay say ADD more ANOTHER RM200 doesn’t it sound better??
REMEMBER THIS BIMBO…MALAYSIA STILL CATOGERY AS LOCAL MARKET…SO FOR LOCAL MARKET..RAKYAT SPENDING POWER IS EVERYTHING..UNDERSTAND..

  46. Dear TyplotioN, there’s no need to get so upset. I mean, the fella you’ve insulted wasn’t even close to insulting ur dear friend, Kenny Sia. I’m pretty sure Just_Me is just communicating his opinion on this blog; even you can too, without the insults. Maybe you just need to calm down a bit, no need to blow a fuse man or people might start thinking you’re the one with the the intelligence of a 5 year old..

  49. about the increase in toilet fee, i dont mind.they are not the government people and i cant blame them.
kenny,if you have time, you can have a visit to our local government offices. you will be surprised to see that there are bunch of them who are employed to sit in the office and do nothing. but dont visit them at 10-11am, 12-2pm and 3pm-4pm cos the office is empty.

  50. Why price increase? How much for a barrel of oil, I ask you. Do you know everything under the sun is made from oil(energy). Get use to it, its only the start of far worse things to come (aka global die off.)

  51. yah! everyday all about this and that prices increased. Those things never stopped to increase.
inflation, increase in standard of living or whatever…. but all is about price increase

  52. hah, maybe we should think of some effective protest, actually we can pee outside the toilet, they didn’t put a signboard that said no pee outside right? if they demand, then the government should catch all the dog when they pee on the “TIANG”

  53. yoo stranger eventually if nothing for them to “gorek” this will come to da picture good idea man..can start over da policies first until da next parliment debate..send da idea over and let da “ruang undang undang” become “undang undang” yAY…who dog pee on the tiang or everyway ,need to pay essential amount of sum involving hertar of land so ur dog can happily pee or shit under da sun…good job mate!!!!

  54. “Why price increase? How much for a barrel of oil, I ask you. Do you know everything under the sun is made from oil(energy). Get use to it, its only the start of far worse things to come (aka global die off.”
DUN DRINK TO MUCH MATE,da thing is expensive now only because our DICKHEAD (BUSH)is rushing with empire of CHINA.to see who store da MOST oil
and MATE is totally out of topic MATE…WHEN this VERY OIL depleted u still have other energy such as COLD FUSION or HEAT FUSION in place so not to worry as long as there if the MIGHTY SUN our BRILLIANT scientist will THINK OF SOMETHING
just to CALM U DOWN in CASE u PRETTY DRUNK to understand da topic..k mate

  55. Someone’s being touchy feely..
Dear Locomotion or was it TyplotioN, or whatever.. Kenny, being voted Blogger Of The Year, he’s famous among bloggers and acquired regular readers of his blog. Who knows a kid might be reading his blog for all we know… Unless of course if he can put a sign “You have to be 18 an above to enter this blog” I’m fine with it.. Do you think you would want your own child reading his blog (if you have one that is), what with the “FUCK” word sprinkled here and there and I quote Kenny’s, “Everytime something’s gone up in price, you open up your legs wide, invite people to fuck you, then give them a can of beer after they’re done and say “Thank you, please fuck again”.
And.. if you want to bash our government for increasing everything, knock yourself out!! But there’s no reasons to insult anyone to make your point.. If you think you can do something about it.. Then do it!! I dont believe just sitting in front of your computer reading and commenting Kenny’s blog will produce any results.
To Adrian C, what makes you think im a Non-Bumi anyway? But does being a Non-Bumis and a Bumis have anything to do with it?? You have issues man.. Huge!!

  56. last friday i was in an emergency to ban-sai at the 3rd floor Low yat public loo….
As i was in a hurry, i put 30 sen on the lady’s table when she said…. 50 sen!
Wah knn… here oso oledi increase ahhh? wtf?
if i were not in a hurry so not to shit in my pants, i rather go to time square to bansai instead, where it is free and 10 times cleaner!

  57. KNNCB talking about low yat plaza toilet the last roll even got hole on da wall MK!! somebody eventually can peep ur KKC from there when they ban sai…KNNCB so “GOOD”dare to ask ppl for 50 cent…MCK….but lucky tat time i masuk free kakaka cause my fren working there give me da toilet pass hahahahaha……BUT ALL in all KNNCB is wat i wanna rate da toilet

  58. i for one think a price increase is inevitable. true, it’s a burden but i’m with the pm on this ‘accept reality’.kl’s already one of the cheapest urban areas to live in. public transport is bad well cause prices are over regulated , thus making it not a lucrative business.

  59. “public transport is bad well cause prices are over regulated , thus making it not a lucrative business”
tat is not da reason to begin with….i for once interview da cab drivers on y they provide such “good” service for all citizen of kl since da complaint hotline is activate ? u noe wat he saying “go go to complaint bout us i DARE u,cause kid i can garantee u with RM50 we come out once again like nothing happen give me three days to clean my ass of from problem” u think to lodge a complaint is effective against them?? look at da above statement and u noe y such SERVICE LVL been provide..easy to say all da public transport is a monopoly business with such they can provide u with da most “POWER AND EXECELLENT SERVICE ” and nothing u can do about it….
and we r talking about total 24 thousand CABs out there observe it carefully next time u go onbard.try to question them ur thought and see they surprise u with wat kind of answer..
for buses and KTM i dun even wanna start with tat…..short to say buses r running on da short term minded plan rather then long term…KTM had been provide da “good” service seem so long before i cannot even recall how good da service is…….for LRT compliment is receive by PUTRA is fast is effective unlike da STAR.no effective maintenance, ever wonder y both train arrive at station at da same time one should stop by and let another one past?? for those who usual commute will sure noe wat i saying…
aGAIN THE PRIORITY IS ABOUT MONEY AND POLITIC NOT PRIORITY ON SERVICE OR HOW TO UPGRADE DA SERVICE LEVEL..so wat more reason one think is a reason…is ALL JUST AN EXCUSE…to COVER UP the UNPLAN and non structure of KL city PUBLIC TRANSPORT UTILIsation.
EVER observe before WHERE they BUILD da STATION ?? Y TAMAN SEGAR HAVE NOT PROVIDE WITH LRT SERVICE..

  60. i recall “somebody” used to promised us will solve problem on public transport within 18 months.BUT………

What do you know about economics? Any increase in CPI (that’s consumer price index for the noobs like you) is never healthy for the economic as well as the country.
Public toilets should be free of charge at any time and any where, that’s where all our tax money should be applied, then why the hell do we pay tax money to the government in the first place? Paying tax in everthing such as foods, petrols, electricity bills and everything.
If you havent notice (you might not anyway) try to check your bills and reciepts, and check how many of the receipts has the government tax charged? It may be included in the original ammended sales price but that is inclusive of government tax, if you try to deduct the tax, look at how much you can save in the first place?
And tell me how can increasing the toilet fees “would have done a lot of citizens “GOOD” ” ? This is a joke, you paying to attend nature’s call is a good practice? ATTENDING NATURE’s CALL! May I repeat it for your understanding, it’s NATURE’s CALL, like I said, it is nature’s call, it is a nature and we pay shit for nature?

  64. Kenny,
You should go to take a picture of the signboard of all the Petronas Station, its a government propaganda. They think by this way they can explain to the people how much government subsidised for the petrol & diesel.
I was working in the middle east few years back, that time we were paying about RM 1.20 for a litre of petrol. Over there in Dubai, I was paying about RM 3.80 for a gallon ( ~ 4 litre). Yet Malaysia in a oil production country and our people here have to pay lot more for petrol.
Government always compare our petrol prices here with singapore, HK, Thai or even Japan. They always converted all the prices to RM and you will see of course that we are paying less here.
Say Singaporean paying SGD 1.50 for a litre, can we justify by comparing them for paying RM 3.20 to Malaysian who is paying RM 1.90? Bullshit. Average Singaporeans can make SGD 2,000 a month. Can average Malaysian make RM 4,500 a month? If the answer is yes, then only they can compare.

  65. I think they charge 50 cents to use their toilets in major cities like KL.
    Everything needs money.
    That realisation just sucks. >.

  66. to make da point clear compare us MALAYSIA which EXPORT oil to those oil IMPORTER country mainly singapore,HK..so LAME da excuse…
BUT yet some of us still THINK is GOOD for da country…HOW SAD…

  67. Like it or not,Im goin with kenny on this 1.. everyday in the papers we see tis price increase tat price increase..but our salary never increase.. Why? Too many graduate? Then why dont the government cut back on foreign employments.. put a ban to it or sth.. the thing tat make me most tulan is wat i heard on radio the other day.. due to the recent shortage of sugar.. some minister declare that we (consumers) might be force to pay more if ppl are still smuggling it out of the country..for me this is just plain S-T-U-P-I-D and PATHETIC. Why the hell did we vote them to manage the country? isnt their job to make life easier for us .. instead of threating to increase the price of sugar when some dingbat out thr is trying to smuggle goods out. Increase the punishment for smugglers..tighter export laws..tighter border checking etc..so many more shit they can do ! Sadly to say..ive never voted in my life…
Maybe i should vote on the next election…

  68. “I haven’t peed IN three days” not “I haven’t peed FOR three days.” Why would anyone want to pee for three days? It would be too dehydrating.

Why didnt you bother to explain the good side of price increase when you clearly understood that I am directing this question right in your face? If you are smart enough coming from a your so-called “i from GRADE A school actually”, you should be able to understand why am I asking you this question.
No more bullshit, go straight to the point. Explain to everybody here who is against the rise in CPI and make sure you convince us enough so that we will accept the price increase?
What have they learned so far that they need to increase the price due to their claimed “ever-increasing water bills”? The water supply in Malaysia is always available, it rain whole year long, unlike other countries like Australia where it is almost dry throughout the year and water is precious when we cannot even wash our car in the backyard!
And what else has the water system in Malaysia improved? We cannot even drink the water off the tap! Most water pipes are rusted and the colour of the water off the tap is disgusting.
Did you know increasing price benchmark from one sector is like spreading virus? It spreads to the rest of the country’s market sector, now the public toilet entry price has increase, other vendors and business will take advantage of this stupid silly reasons to increase their price with the reasons “even the cost for entering public toilet has increased, why not everything else?” Then how would you comment on that, Mr. “i-prefer-to-learn-ECONS-from-society-is-much-more-fun coming-related-to-local-politics,geography,global and-ETC…learning-econs-from-school..well? BORING AND LOUSY”
    Uhhhh kids.

  70. Our govt is getting more and more ignorant to us who barely made through the month with a few ringgit left.
Petrol increase, fine. But FFS, don’t use that as a reason to increase ALL other necessities!
And don’t use that line ‘our price is still among the lowest in the region’ cause it’s getting cheap.
Change lifestyle? Hahahaha! How about you higher ups start going to work by commuters, LRT and the like. You lot will know our sufferings; frequent train delays and all other mishap.
Malaysian government, I say SCREW YOU.

  71. I am a Malaysian working in Jakarta. You guys don’t know how lucky you are and should stop grumbling about rising prices etc. Over here, they raise prices, not by 5% or 10% but by 40 – 200%, just like that. Petrol is more expensive than Malaysia and daily necessities move up in prices almost daily. The government here is really something! The Malaysian government is like 10x better in price control. In reality, with rising oil prices, it is inevitable that everything else will increase. I believe the Malaysian government has done a good job to mitigate this. Nonetheless, some ministers need not shoot off their mouths in stupid ways, but then again, it is inevitable that there are really some stupid ministers, what to do??

  72. Another thing, Kenny. Lay off the name-calling. I think it is not very respectful of you to call our PM stupid. That is uncalled for.

  73. welcome to teh circle of life in the malaysian society ! ! !

  77. Is it just some news created by you on the toilet thing? I’m not very sure to believe it or not cos lots of photoshopping done in there especially the strike.

  79. Wah lau eh.. all also say is cheaper compare to other country, but why they din say our salary is cheaper then other country a LOT LOT LOT ….

  80. “technorati” soli to let u noe i dun vote for either parties, anyway how come a 15YO kIDs have da right to VOTE right? is DA MAN job for tat and if i not mistake DA MAN should feel really HAPPY cause pappa GOVT will give pocket money as long as DA MAN vote for his….

  81. well, as nuetral_man said, its all cause of corruption. Mr. PM, you tried to stop corruption, but you are the biggest culprit behind all these.
Some country that are producing oil are having exemption from taxes, paying low road taxes and etc. what do we benefit from having an oil and gas in the country? the government are great at comparing our country with the neighbouring country. they dont really think how does these increase will impact the lifestyle of their citizens.

  82. ” they dont really think how does these increase will impact the lifestyle of their citizens.”
They dont really think how does these not increase will impact the lifestyle of themselves.

  83. I’m a fond reader of ur blog, but however, i would just like to point out one thing. The fact is that, petrol prices have been increasing globally for the last decade, and Malaysian government have been subsidizing way too much for us. In order for a country to advance, we can’t keep subsidizing for both the rich and the poor and the average. We should find a system whereby we can subsidize acording to income. But then that will be hard considering how corrupted (not just the gov.), but the citizens as well. We cheat. Eg: Traffic tickets.
I know that our average income is less than other countries like Japan, Singapore, etc. But let us compare ourselves with Indonesia and Thailand. Our average salary is definitely higher than the average indonesia, And probably about the same as Thailand. yet, our petrol prices are still lower. Honestly, sometimes, we really should look at things from an outside view. from a more futuristic view. I’m sure the government has a plan, cause they can’t have a plan just for the present. We need a balance plan for both present and future. Regarding the increase in prices of consumer goods like food, everytime the government increases the price of oil etc, the hawkers, shopkeepers etc all increase their prices as well citing the same excuse. However the increase is not the same from one stall to anotehr. To please both sellers and buyers, the government has to set a price increase.
i’m currently studying in Japan, and i read one post that says how japanese have high income etc. Well, yeah, they do. But so are the living expenses here. It’s insane ok? I have friends who have graduated and are working here. Honestly, the petrol price here is the worst. Yes, here we do have good transport system. But do u know how costly it is as well? For a bus ride to my university (a 20 minutes ride) causes 480 yen. That’s RM 15. for 20 MINUTE RIDE ON A BUS. And i don’t even live in tokyo or somewhere. I live in the freaking countryside. Kenny, I’m sure u understand what i’m trying to say since u’ve lived in Aust. The prices of goods always go up higher than the salaries. Just gotta adjust and cut back. We’re lucky the rise in price are not too extravagant. For the average citizens like us, it sucks but we still live. For the rich it doesn’t matter. But for the poor, it’s a whole new ball game.
Some ppl cite corruption, and yes, i do believe /know some of our leaders are corrupted(especially the fuc*ing AP issue), but to call the PM totally corrupted, i think, is disrespectful.PErsonally, i think that the PM is definitely not corrupted, but he’s just not strong a character enough to stop corruption. Corruption was already too deep in our political system even during the mahathir days. so, let’s not result to name-calling shall we?
One more thing is that Malaysians are in general just a ‘tak care’ society. We don’t give a shit about the cleanliness of our toilets. We go by the mentality, that, ” It was dirty when i came in, so i can just make it dirtier’. or ” since this taman already got so much rubbish, i can also throw here la”. It’s not just the gov’s responsibility to keep out environment clean. IT is as much our duty as it is theirs. A friend here was telling me how in Japan, she does not litter or cross roads while it’s still red, but back home in KL, she just does it, because everyone else does.
Honestly, i love my country as much as the next person, maybe more, but the fact is that sometimes, it is so dissapointing to see the Malaysian mentality of blaming everyone else, and not sharing the blame.
I know this post damn ‘cheong hei’, but…Anyway, peace .

  84. not only japan, london is another cases where the policeman need to select more part time job to cover the living……well done just another girl..

  85. I agree with DICK on this one, “Lim/LingPeh” is obviously side-stepping the question. Spewing broken English which doesnt make sense, telling others to learn manners when s/he started this “debate” in the first place..
Any increase in prices of goods can never be good for the economy, you see why the government keeps trying to keep inflation to a low level, not zero inflation however, since zero inflation has its negative effects but i m nt gonna start an econs lecture here…
I think the reason there is an uproar is because there is a lack of transparency on how government funds are being used.. The cut in subsidy in fuel prices were partly supposed to be used to improve public transportation but at the moment, nothing’s happened. As a result, asking the masss public to take public transportation to work is just out of the question…
To be fair, world oil prices have been soaring crazily over the past years and there is no way the government can sustain this type of leak in their funds, BUT the cut in subsidy must be compensated with an improvement in public transportation, so the public at least has an alternative..
The rise in prices of other goods are merely the cause of a knock-on effect by the rise of fuel, so there wasnt any surprises there when news of the price increase came about.
Finally, LingPeh, do not be so quick to denounce proper college/university education, I have not seen a single meaningful word out of you and it’s obvious that you re hating for the sake of hating..
Noone likes flamers you noe, stay in school, it’s ur best move. Leave the discussions when you re more knowledgeable and MATURE….

A great explanation, but sorry mate, the subject of discussion is Malaysia. I don’t care what about the economics in Indonesia is like, and I dont think nobody here would care anyway because it has been inconsistent for the past decades, so I bet it is best for us not to argue on that matter.

Where did you get from here? You still havent clarify and explain to me how increasing CPI is going to benefit the society?
Again, let me remind you, cut the crap and bullshit of yours and get straight to the point. I am too lazy to argue with you about your level of education and your knowledge but I just want to know why does it benefit the society with the increase in CPI?
If you cannot answer this question that you directed to us yourself, please dont come back and make silly stupid comments about me and trying to be smarter and diverting my question away.
Either you answer the bloody question or just carry your shit away from this discussion board.

“you guys may complain now but in a few years time you might just find that these price increase would have done a lot of citizens “GOOD”-so SEEM like BOH PIAN only
But from my understanding, you seem like you agree with him then? That’s when I start questioning you. Like I said before, if you could have understand what I am directing to you, you would have know why I am asking you this and required your explanation.
Dont judge a book by its cover, I know Hokkien and Hokkien is my mother tongue thank you very much. So I speak Hokkien as well, so I know what you are saying 🙂

  90. In response to “just another girl”
I think most ppl have no issues with the petrol price increasing, the main gripe ppl have is that the petrol price is increasing while everyone can see the HUGE wastage of public funds that could be used to continue the subsidy
If the governemnt was clean and did not waste public funds, im sure ppl would unsterand the need to raise petrol prices in line with global prices.
some very recent examples of waste
    – RM100k for 5 star dining and tuxedos for Councilors
    – PJ City “celebration”
    – 1.3Bil to build new causway..1.1bil to Cancel causeway..WTF??
etc etc..the list goes on and on

  91. U lower the prices in your shops lah!!! 50%!Everyone will surely follow to snatch your business…and the fittest will survive!!!

  92. I really like it when Malindo and Neutral_man compare our country with neighbouring ones. That should be the way. If we were to benchmark ourselves with countries like Singapore… it is obvious that the petrol price there is damn higher. I’m fr JB and i can see everyday Singaporean cars fillin their tanks full before returning back to their country. (and our ‘funds’ are paying half of their fuel through gov subsidy)… That is why the subsidy (which involves our money) must be decreased accordingly.
Okay let us seek out the ‘real’ oil price… What the price should be…
    1) One barrel contains 159 litres of crude oil.
    2) One barrel now costs USD 75 (RM300)
    3) One barrel of crude oil only produces about 100 litre of fuel.
    4) So, one litre of fuel should cost RM3.00.
    5) However, do not forget the processing costs to convert crude oil to fuel (in step number 3)
    6) I reckon that the real fuel cost per litre should be around RM3.50.
The fuel price in Malaysia is currently RM1.92. Meaning that our government is subsidizing RM1.58 for every MALAYSIAN consuming fuel. BUT, people from different countries take advantage of this. Heck i might be doing the same thing if i’m them!! heheh. The only thing the gov can do is reduce the subsidy again and again as the increase in oil prices contributes to the increase in subsidizing costs. Hmmm… I can go much longer talking about this but i think you get the picture.
People all around the world are facing this problem… not just us. Its a global issue. Its only that in Malaysia, the government subsidized the oil price in the first place to help malaysians. They are now taking the blame of a thing that cannot be controlled. If they didn’t start to subsidize the oil, then there would be no issue. People would understand more (like in the US).
About the transport thingy after reducing the subsidy, go read the newspapers. We’re having an upgrade in highways and trains soon. These upgrade takes time… all the procedures and all… so be patient! Say no to Kiasus!!!
We are living in a great country and i’m proud of that. True… there are mistakes here and there… But, our country is peaceful (eventhough we are the 3rd most ‘kurang ajar’ country as rated by reader’s digest a few days ago.. heheh).
It is far better if we talk about this and find how to solve THIS problem, which we’re in full control of… Kenny… please look up on this… are we really that ‘kurang ajar’… isk…

  94. really.. Kuching is not worth rising anything at all compared to the west malaysia — KL / Johore / Penang / Ipoh / Selangor
because we are subsidising the west all sort of natural products. If they are to upgrade our Kuching people’s lifestyle.
UPGRADE WIT BIG GIANT STRUCTURES, BIG SHOPPING MALLS, LONG WINDING TRAIN, INTERNATIONAL BASE AIRPORT, POUR THE WICKED ROAD WITH INCES OR TAR (SO IT’S NOT FUSTRATED TO DRIVE WITH A LOW SKIRT)….. You also can say Kuching city wa…. our city looks like AN-OUT-TO-DATE CITY compared to the west. hey rather upgrade Johore (which is near Singapore due to a lot of Sing tourists) than our state, SARAWAK.
I am really really in FIRE when revealing this issue. X-X

  95. FYI, low yatt plaza’s ground floor toilet is already costing RM1 per entry. 1 freaking linggit per pee. thats so X

  96. Why are you comparing a country that PRODUCES petrol and countries that DO NO PRODUCE petrol? This is just a very silly mistakes that you had done. So all your elaboration about comparing the petrol prices from all over the world, is, let us just say, plain pointless.
If you take into consideration of equality, then you would understand why so many people here are furious over the government. Why is people from over the East side of Malaysia so left out in the country’s development when they are one of the major contributors to the nation’s raw wealth?
I thought this is a lovely and multi-cultural country and everything else should be equal, but unfortunately, it never was and it will never be and people from the East will never be satisfied with the country’s performance.
Come up with a proper resolution of the status of East Malaysia – West Malaysia and only then you should come back and brag about our prideless little country.
Please be considerate when you mention the world MALAYSIA, you can be as in WEST Malaysia or never was there any thoughts or involvement about the EAST 🙂 While people from the East however, when they mention Malaysia, they always involved East and West 🙂

  97. Thats why, CONGRATULATION FOR OUR PM ABDULLAH BODOH-WI. While the whole country is slipping into inflation, we are being kept denial of our GDP growth blah blah.
Serve us all right for giving him 92% mandate to run the country….Let us continue having our PM tapping rubber trees, collecting vegetables and eating up flower weeds while the country suffers…
DR M was truly a man of highest regards building up Malaysia to be world class only to be destroyed by a father and son-in-law

  98. DICK. I believe that you’re so wrong when saying that i’m just comparing a nation that does not PRODUCE petrols only. Issues like this can easily be misconstrued by those thinking just inside the box.
Take note that in a day, Indonesia produces almost twice the oil our country can gather, and why is it still more expensive there? (refer to Malindo- as a matter of fact i’ve been there a few times and it IS pricey..)
And regarding the EAST WEST Malaysia issue. Do take note that i’m fr JB which can be regard as SOUTH of Malaysia. I can say i am also dissatisfied of the development here comparing to that in KL. The Pasir Gudang highway has been in the same state it was 20 years ago. But who are we to say right? Find a better approach to solve his (by you know how…) rather than barking in Kenny’s wonderful blog.
We can’t expect a totally balanced development where every single sen were to be distributed equally. (Of course we can if we are a communist state). In democracy (of which is being fought by the US – and i strongly believe that it is a US propaganda to take control of a ‘US’- elected state), this is the ‘side’ effect that we have to go through. Hail Dr. M for vocally expressing this idea again and again.
Kenny… any ideas to solve the “kurang ajar issue?” – Malaysia rated 3rd worst country…

  99. our PM stupid our PM stupid our PM stupid our PM stupid our PM stupid our PM stupid our PM stupid our PM stupid our PM stupid our PM stupid our PM stupid our PM stupid our PM stupid our PM stupid

  100. “too lazy to argue with you about your level of education and your knowledge”

  101. In response to “just another girl”
F**K, dont compare Malaysia to Japan. That is DUH!
u know what you have missed—Japan is corruption free!
dont simply comment when you are not in Malaysia.
    then why r u there?

  102. Hey, Kennethng, why dun u go and be the prime minister for a day? See what’s it like to run a country?

  103. “Where did you get from here? You still havent clarify and explain to me how increasing CPI is going to benefit the society?”
Some people are so fucking stupid that they need people to spell everything out for them. Its call the lesser of two evils, bitch…
The fundamental issue here is that energy(and all its derevatives) has gotten expensive. And the government can only do 2 things about it. Increase subsidy or let the public bear the brunt of it. Both are bad for the economy… its down to which one is less painful.
So unless you can propose a better alternative, you’re basically blamming the government for something nobody has control of, like rain for example.
Thus giving all considerations, I suggest that you kindly shut your fucking trap hole and die.
    please?

  104. “Some people are so fucking stupid that they need people to spell everything out for them. Its call the lesser of two evils, bitch…”
that is why you have coach and trainer..or teacher or lecturer…or even professor and all the writter provide the writing material for you to enquire the knowleadge..
i fully anticipate that some day,the day eventually will come maybe not now but when you too absent minded to remember things or recall things that your descendant might use the above quote on you…then i will like to know how you feel..do let me know how you feel then k brother…
and plz change the wording die to get a life it may sound a bit pleasurable…
ROUTE CALLS: you can delightly explain to people the reason why with insulting but avoid personal attack…..to admit stupidity is not a shame or crime and i admit and wining is not everything..
is the process and the experience matter after all is just a COMMENT post
i now truthly belief the recent rating for malaysia…is really true…
and dick i have no reason to offend you,if i did i wanna say sorry is my fault and plz enlighthen me on the issue thank you..
    CHEERS bro

  105. Uncle Lingpeh, didnt meant to insult you lar.. the rant was targeted at DICK.
Didnt meant that people who don’t understand the issue were stupid, but people who just want to ask questions arrogantly and throw their weight around.
    Cheers Uncle

  106. I think if this price increase culture keeps at it’s current rate, with evolution, we’ll see the difference between a rakyat and a politician from the size of their waist.
Running away is no solution, neither is pissing on the road we live in. Pissing on some unnamed politicians’ cars are no-no cos there’s CSI at work.
Hmm, so how do we solve this price increase in pissing issue? I for one will not use toilets that requires payment regardless of watever condition I’m in. Cos toilet tat requires payment is usually dirtier than the ones I dun pay, so why shuld I pay to use a toilet that’s dirty and unmaintained? And it’s right, public toilets are supposedly free cos tat’s where all the tax money go to; to improve society’s condition.
I think the people who’s in charge of our country nowadays may hav forgotten what’s the objective of being a caretaker of it’s nation. Somehow with the price hike, the government has forgotten that Malaysia is a democratic country, not a capitalist.
I think it’s time for me to practice that voting rights in the next election.

  107. well, i think we have forgoten the meaning of “Tandas Awam”.
Now it become Tandas So-n-so Sdn Bhd. Chargeble wan u know…..luckily they yet to implement service tax on the toilet fees. Or else you will start to think of saving all the 1-cent-ses.
Later you might find Tandas MSC or Tandas Pte Ltd or listed in MESDAQ. a bit too imaginative.
    Hahahahaha
While shopping in KL, I rather walk to the nearest hotel toilets which is much better, smells better and FOC. A bit stingy fella but ….. i find it worth my two-cents

  108. Most of the Malaysian ppl also very stupid, they didn’t realize the picture is being altered by some nerd. And later on, ‘they’ keep commenting on this.

  109. at least we still show our love and care towards malaysia as better then some “races”only know how to fly flag and hanging them and comment on how the other races show no love to malaysia particular on NATIONAL DAY………and some fat lady dun even dare to admit what she had say…30% policies U NOT HAPPY THEN U CAN BYE BYE..
