“Merry Christmas” Is Another Way Of Saying Screw You

This is ridiculous.
Do you know that in the United States right now, there’s this huge debate going on about the use of the word “Christmas”?

Apparently some people thought it’s offensive and inappropriate to say “Merry Christmas” in public. See, the USA is a multicultural society so there’s a lot of Americans who do not celebrate Christmas by default. Initially, their government bodies and major shopping complexes decided to start using the more politically-correct and all-encompassing “Happy Holidays” or “Seasons Greetings”, which I thought was fine.
And then it happened. Some donkeys came along and said “NO! It is not OK to use the word ‘Christmas’ at all! Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. It has the word ‘Christ’ in it. If you use that you’ll be isolating all the Buddhists, Muslims, Jewish, etc who do not celebrate Christmas at all!”

So they began renaming everything Christmas. The transformation begun from the White House, to schools, to streets, to major department stores like Macy’s etc.
Christian symbols were removed from nativity scenes.
The symbolic Christmas Tree became the Holiday Tree.
If you’re Jewish, it’s called the Hannukah Bush.

If you’re Muslim, it’s called the Allah Plant. (joke by right-wing Conservatives.)

[No. Sorry but I will not remove this picture.
ONE, I am obviously against the Christmas Tree being called anything else other than the ‘Christmas Tree’. ‘Hannukah Bush’ and ‘Allah Plant’ are examples I used to illustrate the ridiculous names people came up with in the name of political correctness.
TWO, the whole point of this politically-incorrect entry is to ask people to stop being so anal about political-correctness.]
You put Christmas Holiday Decorations on your Holiday Tree. You give out Christmas Holiday Cards to friends and families. You make a fool out of yourself during your company’s Christmas Holiday Dinner.
You go to the city to watch Christmas Holiday Lights. You splurge on your credit card doing Christmas Holiday Shopping.
This whole renaming thing is so ludicrous, I’m surprised they haven’t changed Jesus Christ into Bob Holiday.

This is a pair of Christmas balls

Then the inevitable came. Far right religious groups including that blabbermouth Bill O’Reilly began to lambast left right and center anyone who won’t use the word ‘Christmas’. They wrote angry letters, boycotted products, and in true American fashion, threatened to lay the smackdown and sue the candy ass off anyone who disagreed with them.
If you say “Happy Holidays” to a conservative American, don’t be surprised to hear “That’s Merry Christmas to you, bitch!” in return.
What a spectacular way to ruin the Christmas mood.

Come to think about it, living in the United States is like writing for kennysia.com. You can’t say anything these days without offending people.
I’m not Christian so I don’t feel obligated to protect the religion. I’m all for accomodating everyone’s beliefs as much as possible and even I can tell that this whole debacle is absurd. It’s amazing to see everyone is trying to ram their beliefs down the opposing camp’s throats with no room for tolerance at all.

If a Christian wishes a Jew “Merry Christmas”, it is an act of goodwill, not a scorn because of conflicting ideas on Jesus Christ. If someone chooses to say “Happy Holidays”, it is still an act of goodwill despite the choice of words. Why are these people getting so worked up? And dammit, gimme back my goddamn Christmas Tree!
The most ironic thing is that even a Muslim country like Malaysia is more tolerant towards the other people’s cultures and beliefs. [2 days after I put up this entry, sadly I no longer feel that way anymore. The commenters pretty much proved that Malaysia is just as intolerant and politically-correct as the USA.]
Till then, Merry Christmas to ALL!

I changed the photo in the contest for the Pixart Photobook giveaway, so head over there if you want a second shot at it. 😉

  1. Okie then, let’s have a Party Update>

    RE: Christmas Party
I’m happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take place on December 23, starting at noon in the private function room at the Grill House. There will be an open bar and plenty of food We’ll have a small band playing traditional carols…feel free to sing along. And don’t be surprised if our CEO shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas tree will be lit at 1:00pm. Exchange of gifts among employees can be done at that time; however, no gift should be over $10.00 to make the giving of gifts easy for everyone’s pocket. This gathering is only for employees! Our CEO will make a specialannouncement at that time!
Merry Christmas to you and your family.

In no way was yesterday’s memo intended to exclude our Jewish employees. We recognize that Chanukah is an important holiday, which often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year. However, from now on we’re calling it our “Holiday Party.” The same policy applies to any other employees who are not Christians or those still celebrating Reconciliation Day. There will be no Christmas tree. No Christmas carols sung. We will have other types of music for your enjoyment. Happy now?
Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous requesting a non-drinking table … you didn’t sign your name. I’m happy to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads, “AA Only”; you wouldn’t be anonymous anymore. How am I supposed to handle this?
    Somebody?
Forget about the gift exchange, no gift exchange is allowed since the union members feel that $10.00 is too much money and executives believe $10.00 is a little chintzy.
NO GIFTS EXCHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED.

What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December 20 begins the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and drinkin during daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how a luncheon at this time of year does not accommodate our Muslim employees’ beliefs. Perhaps the Grill House can hold off on serving your meal until the end of the party- or else package everything for you to take it home in little foil doggy baggy. Will that work? Meanwhile, I’ve arranged for members of Weight Watchers to sit farthest from the dessert buffet and pregnant women will get the table closest to the restrooms. Gays are allowed to sit with each other. Lesbians do not have to sit with Gay men, each will have their own table. Yes, there will be flower arrangement for the Gay men’s table. To the person asking permission to cross dress, no cross-dressing allowed though we will have booster seats for short people. Low-fat food will be available for those on a diet. We cannot control the salt used in the food we suggest for those people with high blood pressure to taste first. There will be fresh fruits as dessert for Diabetics, the restaurant cannot supply “No Sugar” desserts. Sorry!
    Did I miss anything?!?!?

Vegetarian pricks I’ve had it with you people!!! We’re going to keep this party at the Grill House whether you like it or not, so you can sit quietly at the table furthest from the “grill of death,” as you so quaintly put it, and you’ll get your f***ing salad bar, including organic tomatoes. But you know, tomatoes have feelings, too. They scream when you slice them. I’ve heard them scream. I’m hearing them scream right NOW! I hope you all have a rotten holiday! Happy Holidays!

  2. absolutely absurd ler.
so a Jew can’t wish a Christian merry christmas then? I can wish a Muslim Selamat Hari Raya even if I’m not Muslim right? Can I wish Happy Deepavali if I’m not celebrating it?
The whole point is to celebrate and be jolly about holidays, regardless your damn religion or your racial preferrence. The holidays are here to cheer us up and unite each other, not screw things up and divide. So what if we celebrate holidays that aren’t connected to our beliefs at all? I get damned to the very depths of hell/valhalla/neraka?
Geez, i swear if this goes on throughout the world we might as well be clones with one similar identity, living one similar life, and shagging similar laydees without worrying what their religion is.

  3. Hi Kenny! I’ve always enjoyed reading your postings. Keep it up!
I like what you have here, but I think the selection of words to rename the Christmas Tree was quite inappropriate. Christmas and Hannukah are religious celebrations, so the Muslim equivalent should be Aidilfitri (or just Eid).
Allah is God’s name (worshipped by Christians, Jews and Muslims) and you should exercise every caution when using it. It is definitely not a joking matter – in fact it’s very wrong to turn it into a joke and make fun of it.
I guess this is pure ignorance, but believe me, ignorance will do you no good. Do try to understand others.
I didn’t just point out what was wrong but also gave you what it is supposed to be. So please take this comment constructively, and I hope to see the pic changed.
    Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday!

  4. Sawaddekap!!!! Pom mai put alai na kap mai ko ping ponpai samprok khun dai tirak alai noi kap, malai put chan rat “Merry Christmas or Holiday” knop tai ijuk…
    Sounds politically correct like this.

  5. kekekeke,
bet Kenny would make a Great Christmas Tree though~
We could hang the decorations anywhere on his body~~
    XD
Or better Yet, a Christmas Tree Forest~

  6. I must admit that there are times that I am sad to be an American. I love my country, but it has been taken over by political correctness and lawyers. And I’m not just some ordinary guy who hates all lawyers, I am a lawyer and I am fed up with the stupidity going on in American society.
However, I must also note though, that since we’re on the topic of Christ and Christians…. Do some quick research on the savage attacks on the new movie The Chronicles of Narnia by anti-Christian?/atheist? groups in Britain.

  7. so ok, dont’ everyone jump on me at once, but I feel there’s something to be said about the reluctance of some people to call everything “christmas” around this time of year.
I think its not so much of being intolerant towards Christians and Christianity (and heck, there are even some Christians who believe that Christmas as we know it has become some commercialised that its completely removed from the original Biblical meaning), but more about the assumptions that are implicit.
In America, and unlike Malaysia, the religion that holds most sway is still Christianity, by a huge amount. You won’t get many if any non-Chinese saying “gong xi fa cai” to a Chinese-american, nor would get non-muslim americans saying “eid mubarak” to muslim americans.
In america, everyone is generally assumed to be Christian unless otherwise stated. this is completely personal, of course, but I feel that Malaysians on the whole might well be more knowledgeable about other religions that americans are.
I completely agree that anyone wishing anyone else “merry christmas” could well be taken as good will. But when was the last time (in america anyway) you heard someone saying “eid mubarak”, “happy divali”, “gong xi fa cai” or “shalom”?
It’s surely understandable that americans who follow other faiths would want equal coverage, or at least more?

  8. Hi
I think you have some misconception when portraying the picture of Allah Tree.
If you are smart, think again. Do what is necessary.
Selamat Hari Natal & Selamat Bercuti…

  9. Kenny just put the “Allah” tree for a joke. SO? Sensitive Malays gonna scold him again?
Why do kenny always have to put up with demanded changes to his blog? Where’s the freedom for him to write wat he wants?

  10. Not that I’m trying to police your blog or anything, Kenny, far from it; but I find the phrase that you coined, “Allah Plant”, to be quite offensive.
We do know that you’re trying to pull off a light-hearted joke, but I know many others who would find it offensive. This is because Allah is the name of our God, and we do not use his name in jest or in humor. Using/Making fun of the name of a holiday related to Islam or such in the name of satire is fine though, and that would be more appropriate.
My apologies if this sounded like a contemptuous message, but it really wasn’t meant to be such; it’s an advice. I’m just trying to enlighten you on how the usage of our God’s name should be treated with care and veneration.

  11. Hi Kenny… its becoming a bit of a joke in australia too.
4 out of 7 people in the team I work with do not celebrate christmas. So currently there are xmas decorations everywhere around the whole office except around the area where those guys sit. Its quite ridiculous… 😛

  12. first of all, not all muslims and malays, and not all malays are muslims.
and I wouldn’t exactly call that “scolding”, i think its more like asking someone to show respect for your beliefs and convictions.
and of course kenny can choose what he want to do to his blog, he has the freedom to write what he wants, he just bloody did.
on the flip side, if kenny decides to continue having comments enabled, others also have the freedom to offer their opinions.

  13. i think baing malaysian gives us a better perspective on it.. i mean, i’m not christian, buti love christmas, i go around saying merry christmas, go christmas-ing with my muslim, hindu, budddhist, and ahteist buddies…. its’ just a celebration… i mean, we don’t view it in a religious sense…
stupid people. can’t believe i’m heading to live there next year. so i ca’t wish anyone merry christmas. pah.

  14. hi kenny,
the ALLAH plant isnt a joke…:(
i’m very surpirse to see this kind of stupid joke about religious in this blog because u knoe wat? i’m one of ur fans…and i’m really annoy with your ‘Allah joke’
i dun care whether if u wants to rephrase it in to the other word…it’s ur blog & u have the right to post about what you want… but i think u noe that this is Malaysia. We have to respect each other & try not to insult one & another. it’s really frustating post Kenny
    We’re different country & not like AMERICAN…
(remember sixtheseal? abt the drugs stuff…)
    Thanks Kenny…
Keep on blogging (& keep it clean…)

  15. We at the Jabatan Anti-Kristian Malaysia (JAKM) are suing Kenny Sia and the website kennysia.com over the excessive use of the word “Christmas” in a single post, which includes the word “Christmas” 16 times and 5 which were crossed out but still visible.
To avoid such a lawsuit, kennysia.com must change all mensions of “Christmas” to “Natal Day” as we deem the presense of “Christ” in “Christmas” as sacriledgeous…
    LoL… joking kenny 🙂

  16. I lived in US and actually it is more of a overreaction by the media on this issue. The average American there probably do not even give a damm about saying Happy holidays or Merry Christmas.
It makes no difference to them, its only words and it is a holiday for their friends and family to come together and enjoy the holidays…

  17. Then there is the Politically Correct reaction from a few years ago, where at one church I went to (which was a Uniting Church … aka ex-methodist who don’t beleive in Drinking), banned saying Merry Christmas, as Merry = getting Drunk according to them.
Same church which banned me from telling jokes under the complaint that ‘Jokes are not based on real life, therefore they were lies’ … so I was a liar if I told jokes and lying is a sin.
    Somedays you just can’t win!
Anyway, Merry Xmas, happy holidays, Happy Ramadam, Happy Hanakah and good will to all men and women and anyone who is neither man nor woman … animals, plants, rocks … energy creatures from other dimensions … did I leave anyone out?

  18. i read somewhere in a book that the actual date of the birth of Christ is around March, and there are speculations that the people at the some London churches are keeping this from public. Dec 25 is said to be following the Pagans. but this piece of news is very old. around 1960s.
chill out, people. maybe Kenny doesn’t do that on purpose.
anyway Kenny, run away, you’re now the target of angry durian attackers!

  19. We are taught “THIS is RIGHT, and THAT is WRONG” – this is how we define politically correctness? If so, America’s Education is heading to Oblivion with Bush’s Political Correctness.
It’s a Tree! A Tree people have been calling Christmas Tree for decades (or longer!) Just because of political correctness, they’re changing the name for a Seasonal Holiday. – Hats off to them for being such spoil sports.
Merry Christmas to All (Apart from those who may take offence; Bugger Off Else Where Then!)

  20. Hey Kenny, Merry Christmas to you … and to all you anal retentives out there, stuff yourself up a Thanks Giving Turkey!

  21. OMG!! I have to change my name to Holiday….From now on, i am going to be known as Mr Holiday…These craps bullshits could only happen in America….

  22. To me, all this PC talk is quite entertaining. Goes to show that some people have way too much time on their hands.
Merry Christmas to you also. I hope you will have a good end of year.

  23. Allah is not just used to refer to the Muslim god. It is an arabic word that means God. It is not exclusive to the Muslims only.
Nobody knows the actual birthdate of Jesus Christ but Dec 25 was chosen many centuries ago as a day to celebrate his birth. Dec 25 might or might not have pagan roots but the christmas tree, easter eggs and many other symbols associated with Christianity have real pagan roots. When the early christians converted, they reused their pagan symbols and put new meaning into it, this time, relating to Christianity.
I’m not claming to be accurate to the smallest dot, so if you want real accurate stuffs, look up reliable sources on the Internet and reliable books and encylopaedias.
This comment was posted in reply to a few previous comments. Merry Christmas! Remember the reason for the season.
And don’t get all your panties in a knot. Remember last year (or one of the previous years) christians couldn’t sing songs that have references to Jesus in front of the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong in order not to insult him? Is that called being sensitive too? Allah tree is a joke, get over it, and the word Allah isn’t even exclusive to the Muslims only.

  24. changing the name for the sake of other religion is weird…and its not respecting own religion anyway…
I dun think othwer religions will mind so much…it seems that they are making a big fuss out of everything…
juz like I wldnt wan ppl to change the name of Vesak Day to be politically correct…
    bullshit…

  25. Very well said, what do you think about the changing the word “Christmas” to “Xmas”. That’s like removing Christ from Christ’s Mass
    just my 2 cents.

  26. Oh shit, sure critisize the WHOLE country for something the MEDIA is making noise about. Heaven forbid anyone in the world reads what the Utusan Malaysia writes.

  27. You are right all the way, you know. Wishing anyone a Merry Christmas is more a matter of goodwill that does not have to carry a religious connotation. I am not a Muslim but I don’t feel offended if anyone wishes me Selamat Hari Raya at Aidilfitri and I certainly won’t complain about the holiday that the government has declared for the occasion!

  28. Reminds me of the stoopid Americans changing the name of “French fries” to “Freedom fries”. Taking something which has been known that way for ages and changing it just because it angers people.

  29. What’s the big deal? They’re just names. Condemning the whole country isn’t right, but then again half the citizens down there voted for Bush.
    *pauses*
    Enough proof?
    Merry Christmas Kenny!

  30. Merry christmas to my christian mates 🙂
but seriously kenny, i tought u better remove the “allah tree” joke coz firstly it was a named of god for muslim and we ourselves as muslim cannot name things in the name of god..it was a BIG NO
u know what i meant, it will matter of time the pic will published in conservative malay paper (u know which) and dont surprise it will become topic in parliament raised by publicity hungry MP’s
I know u meant it as a joke but i love ur blog and i dont want it to be used as an issue for certain politicians and conservative lot
    Love u Kenny..and Merry Christmas 🙂

  31. Kenny, yeah, I agree with the person who pointed out the difference between your use of the name of a holiday versus using our God’s name in invoking humour. I would not have objected had you called it the Eid Tree, because that is the name of the holiday. But despite me not being an overtly pious person, I (and many other Muslims) find it offensive for you to use the name of our God in such a manner.

  32. What do you call a Christmas Tree in the US?

Funny posts about being politically correct and christmas trees:
Apparently some people thought it’s offensive and inappropriate to say “Merry Christmas” in public. See, the USA is a multicultural society so there’s a lot of A…

  33. btw, jesus christ is honoured not just in christianity, but by islam, hinduism, buddhism, and even non-religious people, esp in the US. so you won’t see any changes anytime soon.

  34. hmm we dont seem to have any problems here in oregon.
and regarding the comment on “half the US votes for Bush”, we dont even think its true. Who knows they f*cked up the votes…

  35. I think I could agree with Hamdan & zky.
If you could put there ” Allah Tree ” then why not replacing ” Hanukkah ” with ” Yahweh ” instead ? ( or changing ” Christmas ” to ” Holy Father ” ? )
    You see, relating ” Allah ” ( God ) with ” Hanukkah ” & ” Christmas ” ( festivities )
    is an erroneous combination.
They just dont fit into the whole picture !
    By the way,
it is a habit for the Westerners to use the word Allah whenever they refer to Islam and Muslims, without knowing that the word itself means ” God ” in Arabic. Perhaps, by ignorance, you also must had fallen with the Ang Moh stereotypical definition of Islam. Poor Kenny.
So, if you wish to stick with ” Hanukkah ” and ” Christmas “, then IMHO it would be approperiate if you could replace the word ” Allah ” with ” Aidilfitri ” instead.
Then, it would sound more relevant and perhaps could be simply taken as a joke by fellow Muslims.
A joke is a joke when you know where you are heading to.
    Kenny, I luv ur blog.
But how I wish that you could be more sensitive.

  36. Sigh. That’s why i hate adults(im becoming one of them…).They always make things COMPLICATED and think COMPLICATED.Sometimes way toooooo sensitive.
Merry Christmas to you! yeah…MERRY CHRISTMAS i say!ho ho ho.

  37. Since we cannot use “Allah” or God’s name in vain…. then are you trying to tell me that muslims do not say “OMG”??…doesnt that contain ‘God’ in it as well???
I also bet muslims frequently exclaim “Jesus Christ”!! or “For Christ’s sake”!!…. isnt that as insensitive as well…
Get a grip on life buddy….!

  38. I pity u man Kenny… Being famous has it’s downside.. Just remember. Although you hear more negatives coming in, it doesn’t mean those who support you have vanished or diminished in any way.
    Cheers and Merry Christmas….

  39. Kenny, I agree with you… I really don’t see the point for none christian people to have problems to greet people with “Merry Christmas”. I am Chinese, none christian, and I am totally fine to say “merry christmas” to anyone! WTF is the holiday tree? Maybe Chinese might consider to put CNY tree to it too… hahaha..

  40. I think you are over exagerating. I stay in United States and I always wish my customers Merry Christmas. Yes, we have to be sensitive to all the multi cultures here, but ain’t you kinda going over the board?

  41. I think you are over exagerating. I stay in United States and I always wish my customers Merry Christmas. Yes, we have to be sensitive to all the multi cultures here, but ain’t you kinda going over the board?

  42. I am not christian, I don’t really celebrate christmas. BUT I have christmas tree, I decorate my house with Christmas stuff, I say Merry Christmas to people. What’s is the problem??

  43. I’m a proud atheist front-liner, but I don’t have problems with simple stuff like the calling of christmas christmas. Its the more complicated issues like nuclear-power presidents listening to their imaginary friend for invasion advice that makes me want to force-feed someone clozepine.
And no, the religious right is just trying to demonise atheists as usual. Check the american atheist website and read the comments… most of them are perfectly ok with whatever the holidays are called.
Finally, wishing another person a Merry Christmas does NOT amount to a conversion attempt, so no offence taken there!

  44. Reply to Anonymous,
Err.. what Allah Plant got to do with ” muslims frequently exclaiming “Jesus Christ”!! or “For Christ’s sake”!! ” ??
They aint saying ” Jesus Christ Plant ” or ” For Christ Plant sake “, are day ?
Get a grip on your life too buddy….!

  45. Quote from religion less :
” the world will be a peaceful place without religions. ”
    Something from the net :
” There is an emptiness and a loneliness that an atheist feels, which people of faith cannot understand. The world is absurd, an accident. Science has, or will have, all the answers, but life has no real meaning or significance. Death is final. You can have influence and an impact on the world through your children; you can do well, be remembered in the history books for hundreds, even thousands of years; when the sun dies mankind may colonize other star systems, maybe even other galaxies. But ultimately, even if it takes 15 Billion years, the universe itself will die, or collapse into a black hole or whatever, and the end is absolute nothingness, the only thing that is infinite is a void. Life, then, is meaningless and death frightening. Truth and morality can become relative, which may lead to moral confusion, hedonism, and worse. But instead of the contempt for religious people that many atheists claim to feel, I respected them, and often envied them the security, the certainty, the comfort they experienced. ” ( as quoted from Jeffrey Lang )

  46. The holiday celebrations is about celebrating life and being thankful that a fruitful year has pass…it’s not about religion no more…
sigghhh….what is the world coming to????

  47. oh for fucks sake, of course you won’t remove the picture – it’s not even remotely offensive. trying to “build up” what little bad boy image that you have? grow up.

  48. no kenny is not exaggerating. read the article in the sunday star of 18 dec, a columnist wrote a lot about how christmas had been hijacked. a paper in australia too. (you can read them in my blog).
even in our own country, remember last year there was this hoo-haa about banning christmas carols with the name ‘jesus’ in it, and carollers are not allowed to sing ‘churchy’ hymns esp. with the mention of jesus in it – the can only sing secular hymns with santa and his reindeer!

  49. “TWO, the whole point of this politically-incorrect entry is to ask people to stop being so anal about political-correctness.”
Wakakakaka…this one cracked me up in the morning. Spot on the topic Kenny!
    Cheers!

  50. Well.. it is afterall America. Why am I not surprised. Was in D.C. 2 weeks ago for a meeting and the big hulla-bulla was Bush’s “Christmas” cards that is sent to all heads of states etc. No “Christmas” being mentioned there, and the media being themselves, jumps on it.
Get a grip people. If we want to be really politically correct, we might as well sew our mouths shut because anything we say may be offensive to someone right?!

  51. Not that I would like anything changed, but one of the previous poster got it right.
That should have been an “Aidilfitri Plant”, or even better “Pohon Aidilfitri”.
The Buddhist does not have an equivalent “New Year Celebration”. Even if they have, the closest you’d get would be a “Vesak Tree”.
Anyway, about the “debate”, I only have one quote:
“Never underestimate the power of ignorance.”

  52. I don’t CARE whether you want it called an Allah Plant or an Eid Tree or a Satay Shrub. It doesn’t matter. I don’t want to be politically correct so stop forcing me to become politically correct.
If I want to be politcally-correct, I’ll start spelling ‘Womyn’ for ‘Woman’ (because ‘woman’ has the word ‘man’ in it).
Offensive is not the mere mention your God’s name, whether in vain or not. Offensive is berating your religion and calling your God a motherfucker. That’s offensive and I will never do that.
Maybe I was wrong. Maybe deep down, Malaysia is also a hypersensitive, politically-correct and intolerant country after all.

  53. its all about being politically correct and gaining political support from radical religous groups. christmas may have been the birthday of Jesus but currently, its the best way to boost an economy with tourists and locals buying presents by the bulk. so why should it not be called the economical holiday? you just feel like punching those morons who make such a big deal about it. its actually the kids that really make christmas what it is. if it werent for kids, who would u actually buy presents for? who would you put up a christmas tree and buy christmas crackers for?

  54. Sorry to the guy whose comments I moderated. I say don’t be too engrossed by political correctness. I didn’t say to go out and attack everyone with racist and seditious comments.

  55. yeah, way to go kenny!
this is the first time i post a comment here although i’ve been following ur updates for a year…
“Maybe I was wrong. Maybe deep down, Malaysia is also a hypersensitive, politically-correct and intolerant country after all.”
    i think so too…

  56. Kenny,
I have full respect for you as the owner of this space. I am not telling you to be politically correct; all I am asking is to have respect towards others, and their faith. And I am not talking just for Muslims, as Allah is the one God for Muslims, Jews and Christians.
For heaven’s sake, can’t you see the difference between Christmas & Hannukah (festive celebrations) and Allah (name of God)? By now you should no longer be ignorant, unless you choose to remain so…

  57. Hamdan, just shut d fuck up!
racism is started by racists who believe dat people r insulting their religion..n not vice-versa..
wat starts off as an innocent joke is misinterpreted by a idiotic fuckhead: who says dat it’s RACIST!
can’t we all just laugh & say: “hehe, dat was funny, but u’re not being insulting, rite? u’re just having a joke, trying 2 make us laugh!”
-i’d like to teach the world to sing,
    in perfect harmony…
& also laugh at each others’ jokes..
keep racism out of our minds..-
    p/s: btw, dat’s y i don’t allow comments..u get morons posting stuff, trying 2 get u 2 write thing THEIR way…it’s MY BLOG, MINE!

  58. you people are making a big fuss over one “Allah Plant”? For crying out loud how did a cheery post attempted to get you people to see past the religious side of the holidays become a controversial debate?
For FUCK’s (since saying God would be incorrect) sake dammit. Look at it this way, Allah created the world, hence creating plants, hence Allah Plant is technically correct since he created it! Done? Can we finally enjoy the holiday spirit at kennysia.com now?
    Merry Christmas All!

  59. Well said Kenny 😀 Even a Muslim country like Malaysia does indeed show mpre tolerance towards people from other cultures, beliefs and religions. That’s so many times much better than Ameribloodyca.

  60. Dear Kenny, no apologies needed bro. I understand.
Anyway, to Mr. HamTan, woi, cheebai, I am a Christian and Allah is sure as heck not my God. You are very insensitive to my feelings by claiming Allah is my God. Idiot. Christians do not pray to Allah fool.
So shut the fuck up already and stop being ignorant, unless you choose to remain so….
Allah is the one God for Muslims, Jews and Christians indeed….what a pile of hot steaming shit….

  61. Geez, get over it guys! Kenny is not instigating or inciting anything even remotely related to religion!
He’s just pointing out something that is being taken way overboard in the other continent!
It’s not about being politically correct either. Just leave him alone and enjoy the holidays, will ya? Whether it’s Christmas or what not, it’s the holiday season. stop arguing over petty things.

  62. Ummmm. 94% of Americans celebrate “Christmas”.
And it’s not “radical religious groups” that are doing this. Rather it’s a response to the PC crowd that unfortunately, has been trying to jam “Happy Holidays” down our collective throats.
The (once) silent majority are the people that are fighting the good Christmas fight. Not some “right wing” agenda as the left accuses.
Because if it’s the “right wing” that is fighting the Christmas fight, it’s the left wing that started this by trying to remove the origin of the holiday from even being mentioned anywhere…
    Go figure…

  63. Allah plant isn’t anything offensive to the muslims. It is just some oversensitive dumbo who thinks it is. There is a distinct difference between a christmas tree and an Allah plant. An Allah plant is a plant that is not known to existance and therefore it’s a joke. Allah plant is clearly a joke.
KNNB to those who can’t take it as a joke, i dare them to bomb us. Or me at least. A christmas tree is a Christmas tree and goddamnit certainly not a holiday tree. I am not sure about Allah plant, so let all of us sit down and wait for next Hari Raya and see if there’s one.

  64. Hi Kenny,
I think it would be a better idea if you remove the offensive picture. I sure don’t want to see you get arrested by the ISA and we won’t be hearing from you for a long time and wondering where you are…We all Malaysians have to respect each other’s culture and religion. Be cool about it, remove that picture please. Merry Christmas to all! 🙂

  65. Anonymous, the thing is – that picture is as offensive as Chicken Little.
Do I look like I’m trying to incite a religion hate war here? Of course not. Don’t be paranoid. Be cool about my manner of expression.
If I am ever arrested by the ISA because of that picture, then I’m too ashamed to be a Malaysian.

  66. Hey, what’s with this idiot Anonymous and his veiled subtle threats?
“I sure don’t want to see you get arrested by the ISA and we won’t be hearing from you for a long time and wondering where you are”
Uh huh. Why don’t you tell me who you are you fucking wimp. I sure wanna see you get beaten up by a bunch of hired thugs and wondering where you are after I kidnap you and put you inside a fucking dog house.
Go ahead and cry to Harian Metro, I dare you!

  68. so…
if those ppl u wish arent having a holiday due to some obscure reason, isnt it then politically wrong to wish “Happy Holidays” ??
They are so anal. Itz a fact tht Christmas is for the birth of christ so y would it be wrong to say merry christmas?! Saying merry christmas doesnt mean non-christians can’t enjoy the festivities.

  69. Correction.. The more liberal the country the more shiet u get from those other ethnic races. U see…example. If u are in Iran.. u hang a cross high on ur church, it gets burned down n u get stoned to death. Now these same guys in the USA bitch n moan abuot equality..about Crosses should be taken down..i mean wtf ? Do any of you guys out there get what i am trying to say here… trust me man..only Muslim SOB’s do this kinda shiet! U will never hear this from Buddhist , Hinduist or anything. Fucking 90% Bumi shiet. ooops.. i think i got a bit side tracked.

  71. By the same reasoning of those who advocate politically-correct morals, the use of fairy lights on xmas trees would thus be a slur on non-christian homosexuals.

  72. Well, I guess they didn’t want to offend other religions… But now look what has happened D:
But by right, they shouldn’t change the name because it’s their religion and their right to celebrate it. Just like how we celebrate hari raya, chinese new year and thaipusam. (And if i’m not mistaken, thaipusam and hari raya for this year was on the same week, yes?)
I guess a few americans are a bit on edge with all this racism and feuds between religions going on D:
Maybe it’s just easier to wish ‘Merry christmas and happy holidays.’ It may be long but it’s definately safe =D

  73. I didn’t even bother reading the above comments because I know if I did, I would probably forget what it was that I wanted to say. lol.
Honestly, some people have a major stick up their behind. What’s wrong with the word Christmas. It’s not like you’re forcing something on someone else. I mean, unless wishing someone merry christmas involves making them give you christmas presents, and making them attend mass… then, that’s a different thing altogether.
What next? Are we going to disallow people from having birthday parties because it’s not our birthday?
I think some people are also over-reacting to the Allah bush picture. Kenny’s just trying to make a point – he didn’t imply anything negative by that picture.
With the picture Kenny posted previously (the one of him dressed as a terrorist), it implied that Muslims were terrorists, yes. And Kenny very rightly altered the picture afterwards. But in this instance, I really don’t see any reason for why Kenny should alter or take down that picture.

  74. Guys, can’t we all get along and have a little pig once in a while? If you muslims have ever said the name “Jesus Christ” and used it as a profanity then stop your bitching. In fact just stop your bitching full stop, bloody johnny-come-lately cults enforcing their rights across the world. I’m sick of your bleating. Either put up, or fuck off.

  75. The following letter has been sent to PM, TPM, JAIS, JAKIM, and several local newspapers.
    Assalamualaikum Warrahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,
Its inapropriate to use the word “Allah” in a humouristic or disrespectful manner. This blog refuses to remove the picture and statement despite many comments which either were againts the joke or in religious dispute. This sort of ignorant blogs can ignite a religious and racial misunderstanding amongst Malaysians. This is not an exageration of a small matter. Its a malicious assault against the Islamic people of Malaysia and a means to ignite a racial and religious conflict. If the writer meant it as a joke, then fine, the joke was done, now remove the statement and picture for the sake of the Muslim people.

    Sekian terima kasih
PS: NOT Hamdan. But what would u care, ur just the insensitive, arrogant and the almighty Kenny Sia.

  76. Working and living here in the US, I am experiencing first hand how this is practised at a work place. My big boss is Jewish so we had a “Holiday Party” (at a Jewish country club). You are so right on, as usual. I am going to forward your entry to my coworkers. Malaysians are much more tolerant of other religions and cultures than Americans. That makes me proud to be a Malaysian. Merry X’mas everyone!!!

  77. quote Come to think about it, living in the United States is like writing for kennysia.com. You can’t say anything these days without offending people. endquote
I can sure see that in your posts nowadays. Hang in there man

  78. You’re lucky you’re not in singapore =X they’ve already sued a few kids from blogging stuff like racist bla bla bla. So what’s new? blog isn’t private website from the start. =P
Sensitive people are everywhere. Religion fanatics are just one of them.

  79. One more thing, I think kenny is actually saying that everyone has the right to celebrate the festivities and religions they in the manner they wish it to be, and not in the way how others want them to celebrate. Are we getting a bit off track going that far bombarding each other with so many issues?

  80. THAT is America…
If an American high school kid can sue his school for giving vacation homework and actually WINNING his case…
    So, nothing surprises me anymore…
Freedom of speech is completely abused and misinterpreted nowadays….
If I can wish Muslims Selamat Hari Raya, I don’t see what’s their stupid fuss about non Christians wishing MERRY CHRISTMAS to all!
Thank God I don’t live in the States.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL KENNY SIA’S READERS! ;D

  82. Ahem, another thing, internet in the first place was not owned by any organization or anyone. Literally nobody owns it at all, so we have the freedom of speech. Kenny wishes to express his mind this way, so let it be. We read, we think about it we provide judgement according to what we believe, but we SHOULDNT just go jumping into the front lines pointing out who is right and who is wrong. So called holiday spirits eh? Oh well, lets give and let give. Merry Holidays to you all.

  83. Kenny,
I have full respect for you as the owner of this space.
By now you should no longer be ignorant, unless you choose to remain so…
Posted by: Hamdan at December 21, 2005 12:01 PM
The last I checked, Christians don’t pray to Allah

  84. Kenny, you’ve got to be the biggest noob I’ve ever known. When will you learn NOOB ?!??!?!?!1
I’m not saying what you did is wrong, but jeez can you like learn from experience or not what will happen?!

  85. kenny, i think your posts were really funny and interesting….until i read this post… like what Hamdan said, u should see the difference between festive names and the name of God… we’re not being sensitive.. but can’t u just show some respect towards other people’s religion? just in case u didn’t know, for us Muslims, the God’s name is not something to be used in a humouristic way.. Stop being f***ing arrogant and ignorant….

  86. gosh….can’t believe something like this could happen in the States. anyway, merry christmas and happy new year to everyone. as for the God’s name debacle, Allah creates the world and everything inside it. If you mean “Allah’s plant”, i think it’s not wrong. as long as u’re not intending to use the God’s name as a joke. Peace kenny.

  87. For lack of a better word, screw you. I stand by my stance. I admit I did something quite offensive with the Durian Terrorist post, for which I apologised and rectified the case.
This time round, I did not believe I did anything offensive and I have all the facts to justify it. For the record, I’ve also used Jesus Christ’s name in vain, so sue me. I have all my weapons ready.

  88. Kenny
Yes, I pray to Allah. Spell with a capital A please. I sang song for Allah too. And Yahweh. And Lord God. God by any name is still God Almighty. I am a Catholic Christian.

  89. Like i say…just as God’s name (i.e. Allah)is not something to be used in a humouristic way…the name of Christ and Jesus should not be used in the same way as well….but i still see non-christians going…for christ’s sake and exclaim JESUS CHRIST!!!….or even JEEZZZ….which we all know is the short form for Jesus…. SO WAT??…should we be banned from saying JESUS and CHRIST too in our speech…. To all muslims.. for Christ’s sake……..GET A GRIP!!! its a joke…and if u fail to see it… we cant help it…

  90. Once and for all, I did not coin the term ‘Allah Plant’. Like I mentioned, it is a term coined by right-wing Conservatives in the USA. And I’m using it to illustrate my point. If you can’t have an open-mind to accept my point of view, you must be narrow-minded and living in a FAKE democratic country.
As far as I’m concerned, I did not incite any hate war. I did not call for people to kill Malays like what the racist bloggers in Singapore did. That, in my opinion, is an abuse of freedom of speech. I did not abuse mine. It was a point of ILLUSTRATION.
It’s not about arrogance. It’s not about ignorance. It’s about standing by what I believe in, and backing it up with full and concrete substance, and with FULL respect of the law. I WILL NOT BE SILENCED.
I quoted something from a source as a point of argument. So if you want to be so anal about it, go attack them as well. Don’t use my identity as a Malaysian to say “Oh they’re Americans and they don’t know so it’s ok. You’re Malaysian so you must know so it’s not ok.”
This time round, the problem DOES NOT lie within me. The problem lies within you. Open your eyes. Accept the fact. People, whether it be Malaysians or Americans, ARE going to mention your God’s name in ways other than praising it.
Tolerate. Respect, but tolerate. That’s the message I’m trying to send across.
If you can’t accept the petty thing of what I did is within the limits of racial tolerance, you are living in your own fantasy world.
Bad news. The world is much, much harsher out there for you.

  91. Hi, is me again. Looking at all the posts, I’d say, why all the trouble and argument? Kenny, you are a nice and funny guy and a lot of people love your blog but this is just not worth it. A humor turned into a controversy. If you would just rectify it, you can avoid the controversy and go your merry way and be happy. No more anger and despair due to this small and silly thing. By doing the right thing, you not only doing everybody a favor, you also keep you humor seeking readers coming back for all your humor. I’m getting sick of all these cursing and threats. Whatever happened to the the first half of Kennysia.com ’05? You must remember your blog was featured in a “national” newspaper before and I’m sure a lot of people agree with me. Not to spoil the mood for everybody, Merry Christmas to all!

  92. Anonymous Again, being nice and funny is but one side of me.
Please do not expect me to be nice and funny all the time. In case you forgot, I am human too, with opinions and emotions and all that jazz that a normal human being has.
This is an entry to oppose to advocates of political correctness in America. I didn’t expect it, but seems like advocates of political correctness in Malaysia have risen to the occasion as well.
“You use God’s name in vain, so you are wrong and you must be subjected to punishment.” To me, that’s a load of bullcrap and an invasion to my personal beliefs.
Am I out of line, or are people being overly sensitive? You be the judge.
Does tolerance exist within this country, or is it nothing but lip service? You be the judge.

  93. Kenny, you seem to forget that this is Malaysia, and you’ve been in trouble once, and the authorities don’t care what you think or what you mean, they only care what they think and what they think you mean – I am not commenting whether your entry is sensitive or insensitive, but you should really think about your own ass before going out and trying to prove something when you don’t have to.

  94. Paul, I didn’t even put up a challenge, the challenge came knocking on my door.
I am not even REMOTELY inciting a racial hate war, which by the way, I am completely against. Anyone with half a brain can see that.
Deep down inside my clownish exterior, there’s a Jeff Ooi inside me.
If authorities do come by, call me stupid, but this is the type of mentality I’m challenging. If Malaysia does indeed pride itself in democracy, this is her chance to prove it.

  95. oh yeah kenny, tell it to them!!! i’m with you all the way!
you are so right. the problem is with them, not you, so don’t you ever remove the picture or the phrase ‘allah plant’. stand by what you believe in, knowing what you did was not wrong, don’t ever let those narrow-minded, self-righteous, sensitive idiots tell you what to do (e.g. like once when someone told you you had gone too far, you shouldn’t bow down to that person too!).

  96. you’re just forgetting that most of the people in charge might not have half a brain… that’s what i’m trying to get across to the Jeff Ooi in you.

  97. Jeffooi got in trouble because of a commentor, and he never made any statement that gave the impression to authorities of incitement.
Your statement may not be inciting, but that’s not for you to interpret.
From the SquatGate saga with LKS and Teresa now being made the target by the powers that be, I thought you would’ve learned some things from there.
By all means, stand your ground, just make sure your passport comes in handy and you’re prepared for new life abroad, if you can even make it to the airport on time.
Jeff ooi got off, SixthSeal got off, maybe the authorities may get lucky this time round, who knows.
Maybe they think it’s time to send a message to the blogosphere.

  98. Paul, are you content with the people in charge of this country, the very people who run the soil you step on, having half a brain?
Is this your ideal for Malaysia?

  99. Oh come on Kenny, you’re no where near jeff ooi.
And I am talking in terms of political contacts and lobangs.
Unless you’re well connected like him, you’re not gonna wriggle out of this easily when shit hits the fan.

  100. i appreciate your effort in trying to cure people’s anal retentiveness, but the reality is, you don’t make fun or downplay other people’s religions (or endorse some stupid republican’s joke, does it make any difference?)
“Tolerate. Respect, but tolerate. That’s the message I’m trying to send across.” You’ve got the spirit, but i’m afraid you’re a long way from achieving it. A tastely vaguely insulting post is not a start, lol. This has go to be one of your most tasteless posts, aside from that “i don’t invite fame or something” post.
The jeffooi inside you, OMG, my tummy got spasm from laughing too much.

  101. oysterman has echoed my sentiments exactly. that’s all i’m trying to get across to you really – honestly you have to be more prepared to ‘make any difference’ around here, do not charge into a battle without a REAL war plan.

  102. “I am not even REMOTELY inciting a racial hate war, which by the way, I am completely against. Anyone with half a brain can see that.”
Dont ASSUME every sees things the exact way that you do, that’s ignorant. And just because people don’t see things from your exact perspective, with your exact ‘humour’ they only have half a brain? That’s nice.
“Deep down inside my clownish exterior, there’s a Jeff Ooi inside me.”
So please Kenny, for your own fucking sake, make up your mind what you want to do.
    Be a clown.
    Or be serious.
    DON’T MIX THEM UP.
This post is neither funny nor serious, it’s actually poking fun at a very serious matter, which you don’t appear to have the tact to do. I recall that fact being proven in your ridiculous terrorist on the MRT post.
So Kenny, what’s it going to be, poking fun at terrorists and stupid shit like ‘Allah plants’ or actually addressing issues in a serious, mature manner?
I do both, but not my friend in the SAME FUCKING POST. That’s just wrong, if you haven’t noticed yet.
“Kenny Sia – As sharp as a coconut”

  103. “The jeffooi inside you, OMG, my tummy got spasm from laughing too much.”
kimberly, I like you but I don’t like the sarcasm.
Before I started this blog, I have FIVE years of political activism to my credentials. Do you expect me to change into an ignorant bimbotic comedian overnight?
Do you SERIOUSLY believe I’m insulting another’s religion in this entry? Just by the mere mention of a deity’s name?
Do you SERIOUSLY think I am ENDORSING the very stupid republican that I am CONDEMNING in this entry?
I thought you’re one to not bow down to pressures by men-in-uniforms. Am I wrong?
And you said you support the DAP?
If I’m indeed wrong, I will admit it and I will apologise. In this case, I am not wrong.
Paul + oysterman, don’t worry. I have my connections (and lawyers) ready. Though this blog has never been political in nature, I have realised the need for qualified lawyer advice long ago.
Meanwhile, someone better sue the Buddha Bar for inciting race war because they, like, have the word ‘Buddha’ in their business name.

  104. The thing is Kenny, if you’re not worried about yourself, at least think of your loved ones.
You have a responsibility towards them too.
Do you want your parents or gf to worry sick about you just because you’re trying to prove a useless point ?
If you want to make something useful out of your political experience, you’re better off using this blog spreading awareness like what lim kit siang is doing, except you target the youths/young people, where veteran oldies like LKS cannot reach easily.
You can target the party goer don’t-care-rats-ass-about-anything demographic.
I don’t see anything to be gained out of this unnecessary confrontation. I see a wasted opportunity from a high traffic blogsite.
Many young people are living in apathy about political happenings/awareness. Most I know don’t bother to register as voters even though they’re over 21.
You’re better off waking these people up than trying to take your pants off showing your behinds to a hord of urukhais.

  105. I didn’t mean to steal it, so here’s returning you your Christmas tree:

    Heh, happy Christmas Kenny.

  106. For one, you have the whole DAP idealism wrong. It’s not about not bowing down to uniformed man or doing things foolishly for the sake of equality (if you understood their idealism, it’s not even about equality – it’s for the struggle of betterment for everyone in this country). As you can see from what that have been illustrated in this country over and over again, you still get into trouble for doing things the right way (or so you think). Trust me, I get what you’re trying to say in this post only after so many comments from you. The post is vaguely insulting, and for many people that’s as bad as it gets. For someone with 5-year of political credentials, I’d expect you to be more politically-correct, they do go hand in hand, don’t they?
p/s: Buddhism is technically not a religion. It’s a philosophy. It’s next to impossible to incite a race war due to Buddha Bar’s name because it’s to their prerogative that the bar embraces the philosophy of Bhuddism, and the religion is about moderation so there. he is by the way, not a god.
i like you kenny, but i don’t like ego.

  107. kimberlycun, if you think that way, then Lim Kit Siang accomplished nothing for going to jail for 2 years in 1987 for a “crime” he never commit. I do not think what he did back then was foolish. And if I were in his shoes I’ll do it all over again.
Political-correctness only has a place in the Parliament and in newspapers. Not in our everyday lives, and certainly not in my blog.
Not that the newspapers practise polical-correctness either. We still see the races of criminals published eventhough it’s of no relevance to the news. Do we really need to know if a snatch thief is Chinese, Indian or Malay?
Buddhism is technically not a religion.”
“he is by the way, not a god.”

I’m not even gonna say anything about that comment, which btw is not even politically-correct either. Suffice to say you’ve just offended a lot of Buddhists.
What? The Buddha Bar embraces the philosphy of Buddhism? If Buddhism entails serving copious amount of alcohol, we’re gonna have helluva lot of Buddhists in Ireland. 😉

  108. you are twisting my words, kenny. do note that i said in this country, you get into trouble by doing even the right thing. i’m disturbed that you find that being sent to jail for alleged “crime” seems to be a heroic act that ought to be emulated again, by who else but our kenny. it’s a lesson to be learnt and not to be repeated. and when i mean learn, is learn to fight wisely not charges head on like a blind clumsy bull.
i (and many people, i’m sure) don’t condone the racially and politically and religiously sensitive reporting by our mass media either, so there…you have proven my point of just why your post is so tasteless.
what i stated about Buddhism are basic facts and facts that are well aware by Buddhists alike (even the most un-bhuddist Buddhists like myself), there is nothing disparaging about what I said.
on buddha bar, well, you alleged that you encourage tolerance and respect, but i hardly see you doing so from this post. do you know that hitler twisted the teaching of buddhism for his cause? well, that is also a fact, fyi.

  109. Kimberly, you should just shut the fuck up and quit yapping.
Nobody likes you, and nobody really listens to you because everyone knows you specialise in inciting hate – exactly what you do when you need a bout of attention.
Attention that, as a blogger, you can never get via positive blogging.
Your arguments are ridiculously flawed to the point where a retort will just be too cumbersome as the WHOLE argument is so wrong.
    I give you an example:
Cun: Kenny, your blog is blue. Fact: Blue is the favourite colour of 84% of Americans. This means you are pandering to Americans and do not care about Malaysians. You are therefore a traitor.
Now you being you, will possibly think that above paragraph sounds very clever, because it contains a real statistic and also written in good English.
The rest of us are just laughing at you while going “HUH? What the hell is she talking about?!”.
Buddhism not technically a religion so let’s poke fun at it, shall we?
Merry Christmas Kenny, cheers to having retarded people read your blog. Minishorts and I welcome you on board – no need to be nice to vomit-gurglers like her.
No, really. Have underbite boy go do some exploring on your pulsating genitals, and you both should scoot off, weird rashes, STDs and all.
    (Eww, what was THAT, BTW?!)

  110. seriously i think the people [edited by KS] here are nitpicking.
one allah plant pic and they jump up and down.
lol they shld migrate to iran

  111. Oh yeah, I’ve always wanted to ask you this… If ugly people are narcissistic, does it mean they are blind, or what?? I don’t know, how does it work?

  112. hi short, multi-layered flesh bitch (assuming you’re really xiaxue) 🙂
wow goss fest with minislut ah? birds of feather flock together?
why don’t you work on your photoshop skills with all the time you’ve got since you’re technically unemployed and unendorsed? you’re looking uglier by the day btw
correction, many people like me, i’m not the one nominated as turn-off-of-the-year.

  113. “Kim: Kenny, your blog is blue. Fact: Blue is the favourite colour of 84% of Americans. This means you are pandering to Americans and do not care about Malaysians. You are therefore a traitor.
Now you being you, will possibly think that above paragraph sounds very clever, because it contains a real statistic and also written in good English.”
Now that’s something only xiaxue bitch could definitely think of and relate to, mind you 🙂

  114. read 166 comments. things are getting nasty. 🙂
so it’s not politically correct – i think that’s the point. there’s no point trying to persuade kenny to take it down, i think he’s pretty clear that he’s not going to take it down.
there’s really no point saying muslims make you sick, or christians make you sick. it doesn’t deal with the anal-ness of our PC world.

  115. I like reading all these funny posts by all these other bloggers who, having seen Kenny come under some flak for having apparently touched on a sensitive issue.
Yet the real problem lies not in what Kenny has posted, but in the way it is being interpreted. If as a Christian I am pre-disposed to be offended by the mention of certain words, then I will be offended, intent or no intent. If, as a Communist someone goes about mis-using the name of Karl Marx or Frederick Engels (may those Comrades rest in peace) then I will likely be offended, even if there was no intent.
People have become too bloody sensitive about the pettiest issues and the smallest things. I’m glad I’m not fucking Malaysian and that I don’t live in a society where an innocent post like this can result in a furore that would make Bill Clinton squirm in his soiled suit.
Lay off Kenny. His post might be lacking in tact, but it is by no means tasteless. Tasteless is the depiction of male genitalia presented in a white wine sauce with chalots and mushrooms. Tasteless is a picture of Elma Fudd rogering Kermit the Frog.
But really, all those other supposed bloggers who’ve come down to Kennytown to show off their dicks, get a fucking life.

  116. I sure am glad KennySai is not a Kuala Lumpurian – that would be a TOTAL disgrace to all us KL-ites!! Pity we can’t do anything about him being Malaysian though – hopefully he decides to denounce his Malaysian citizenship someday.

  117. Stand fast Kenny. The photo must stay.
And to the religious/PC ones here who have been acting like total pricks just over a bloody fictional “Allah plant”, get your heads out of your holy books and start being human! Who are YOU to proclaim the right to restrict someone else’s speech? Just what is it about theistic faith that renders it off-limits for some good humour, or Flying-Spagetti-Monster-forbid, some actual criticism?
You may gain prestige among your fellow worshippers for your book-thumping, heretic-burning fanaticism, but to rationalists (or even to the religious of other faiths), you are a sad case trying to hold on to a crumbling mess of superstitions by declaring any criticism/jokes to it off-limits. By your sensitivity, you imply that a faith is so shaky that even an “Allah plant” joke can topple it.
So if kennysia, or some other pagan heretic makes a joke about religion, leave the heavenly smiting to your god! Afterall, you DO have FAITH in your preferred deity’s omnipotent mortal–smiting-powers right?
Or do I detect the faintest whiff of an impotent (or FSM-forbid, nonexistent) deity?

  118. Seriously, state your identity instead of being anonymous, loud and proud! Wear your identity upon your shield and raise your banner up high! Or are you so insecure of your stand that you hide behind a faceless mask? Pathetic.

  119. From reading all this comments posted and scrutinizing through kenny sia’s way of handling criticism, its obvious enough to know that he disrespects the Muslim religion in Malaysia. Its obvious to many Muslims that the name of God “Allah” is sacred and holy. From either saying it or even using it in text. Muslims have been taught to use “Allah” and our prophet’s name “Muhammad” in an appropriate manner only. Muslims who don’t know about that are called “jahil”. Therefore “Allahuakbar” means God is great and can’t be use without appropriate preferences. This simply indicates that the name “Allah” is used with discretion by Muslims/Malays.
Your blog initially was poking on the funny bone, but after reading comments vindicating several Muslims who “politely” asked u to readress the situation, it outright shows that the non Muslims are definitely disrespectful towards our feelings. There’s no need for the word “f*ck” or “sh*t” to indicate our disappointment. We are merely negotiating with u. But to others, we are fanatics.
The right wing conservative party may not know the religious climate here in Malaysia but as a Malaysian yourself, u should at least be aware of matters that means most to Muslims here. The name of “Allah” and our “Prophet”, Al Quran, praying, fasting month, the Haj, wearing the veil and a few others are sensitive issues to Muslims.
If u really think that this situation is blown out of proportion, and regards Muslims in Malaysia as fanatics in a broken democracy country, then I suggest that you denounce your citizenship here and move. The only reason that Malaysia is a “peaceful” multiracial country is because statements such as in your blog are kept from surfacing.
Kenny, I know ur stubborn and will stand fast to your journalistic principles. But this matter does not require much brain power, just some understanding. I had nothing againts u before and enjoyed reading your blog. I guess u focus your topics for the non Malays. I’m aware that a majority of Malays in Malaysia do not have internet connection or are not aware of blogs. But if a majority of them were, then many would disagree with yout witty humour. Now, only a few of us can defend our religion in the internet web.
And if u did have poitical credentials before, its intelligent to know that messing with sensitive issues, no matter how small they may seem, can be the source of an all out argument. Its clear enough in your comments section. Volleys of insults are thrown left and right in your comments. It may just start from something as innocent as this. Think before u post.

  120. It’s happening in Australia as well… sad sad sad…
Anyways give Kenny a break. What happened to freedom of speech?

  121. I’m a Chinese from Kuching and I couldn’t agree more with Dr.Iskandar Zulkarnain. The only things that hold us together as a peaceful and tolerant community are respect and understanding and by posting sensitive issues such as the inappropriate tree naming will only undermine all our years of effort of fostering good relationship among each other. Some of us may not be offended but we do still have to be considerate on other people’s feelings. I’m rather concerned after seeing a few inconsiderate and degrading posts apparently by some Chinese visitors. One can even sense the insult when the name is “porkisgood” and so on. A lot of people would appreciate it if more moderation is done on the posts. Kenny, as you are a university graduate, I’m sure you can distinguish yourself from the rest who are not exposed to the sensitivity of this issue. After all, higher education certainly has taught you something.

  122. honestly though, I’d rather have holiday trees than having intelligence design and other creationism bs taught in science classroom. Thank goodness for that.

  123. Please separate my comments from the comments made by other people, of which I may or may not agree.
Look, all I’m saying is that if you want political correctness and ‘sensitivity’, there’s a time and place for it. The parliament house for one, the newspaper another.
I’m sorry but my blog is not it. It is honest. It is real.
If I do say something that hurt people’s feelings and I feel that I’m in the wrong, I will admit it and I will apologise.
I said renaming the Christmas Tree to ‘Hannukah Bush’ and ‘Allah Plant’ is ridiculous.
Noooo you cannot use the word ‘Allah’!
Why not? I didn’t put down or say anything negative about the religion.
You use it in a joke, so it’s offensive.
I used it in a joke, but the joke is not about making fun of Muslims, the joke is about stupid names politically correct people come up with. Nobody said anything bad about your religion, though PC people are made fun of. So what’s wrong?
I still find it offensive and disrespectful.
Then you’re upset over nothing. Because never did I say anything bad about your religion at all and you here you are trying to pick a bone to fight. If anything advocates of Holiday Trees should come after me, not you. I did not incite the war of words, you did.
Respect is something that goes both ways. I tolerate your differences, you tolerate mine.
And if you can’t tolerate even the mere mention of your deity’s name, seriously don’t walk out the door, don’t watch CNN, as a matter of fact don’t even log onto the Internet. It’s a much, MUCH less politically-correct society out there.
I tolerated yours, your turn to tolerate mine. This is a small matter. Get over it.

  124. Wow, Doctor, if you didn’t start writing I would’ve believe you actually EARNED your Doctor title and not just inherited through a flawed system of reverse affirmative action. But since you wrote shit like this :
If u really think that this situation is blown out of proportion, and regards Muslims in Malaysia as fanatics in a broken democracy country, then I suggest that you denounce your citizenship here and move
then I must say your Doctor title tak boleh pakai laaaa…..
[TEXT REMOVED BY KENNY: I’m sorry but this is completely offensive and uncalled for. I had to remove this text here.
The issue here is not race, nor religion. The issue here is political-correctness and Malaysians’ tendency to be so hypersensitive to all things religion that even the mere mention of the deity’s name is considered offensive.]
    It is only the truth.
And that is why Mahathir wept.

  125. It is not Christmass tree, you faggot. It’s a goddamn Fir tree!
    And Happy Kwanzaa to all!
Hey Kenny, should had named the trees Jesus(instead of xmas)and Yahweh(instead of Hannukah). That way, people would not have complain as much.

  126. Cmon lah, religion is a form of faith to keep us spiritually strong in our living lives. What are we all being so sensitive about? We may all have diferent religions, but its the belief that keeps our spirits strong, or… unless youre heading into radicalism which non believers will go into hell, and which it appears in the teachings of christianity and islam. So if everyone is believing in their own religion just to go to “heaven”, then we’re basically all also going into the other religion’s “hell” arent we? In short, we’re screwed. Let’s keep our own religion and beliefs to ourselves. Believers will come by itself. There is no need to make such a big fuss out of this. Geez!

  127. u ppl say it’s sensitive because u *think* it is.
    but actually it’s not.
my malay colleagues used “ya allah” when they drop something, hit something..etc..which sound something like ‘oh my god’. are they jahil? i doubt.
we can’t say this, we can’t say that, because u want a peaceful multiracial country(or in this case, merely showing what the joke by RIGHT-WING CONSERVATIVES for buddha sake!)
feelings of insecurities and uncertainties occur when we try to hide the truth.
p.s happi to see the ‘allah plant pic’ is still there.

  128. Oh Kim oh Kim. Please do not speak as if you are so almighty coz you don’t use photoshop.
Fact is, you don’t know how to use it to enhance your looks.
Or well, you could be using it (what would we know? At least I admit it), badly, coz you look even uglier than THAT in real life. That’s really sad.
Technically unemployed? Sorry, I earn far more than you do, so you don’t need to worry about me.
What is Voxy? I’ve got better and I’ll show you in 2 days.
Meanwhile, full-time blogger is something you CAN NEVER BE. Nah ah. Don’t say “I won’t wanna be a full-time blogger” yadda yadda. Until the day you manage to be one, then you speak from a position of authority and say you don’t like the job, ok?
I own the Best Asian blog with 20,000 readers, and haven’t you heard? When you are famous, money falls out of trees for you.
Turn-off of the year? My, if only newpaper saw your rashes!! What, do they extend to your, erm, privates? That would be really gross Kimberly!
I am guessing you will win if only they knew you. But you are too insignificant.
And yes, not being turn-off of the year, is definitive proof you are well liked, of course.
Hahaha!!! Calling Minishorts Minislut? THAT’S A HIGH CALL, COMING FROM SOMEONE CALLED KIMBERLYCUN! How’s shorts similar to slut? Don’t get me? Must I really spell it out?
Slut? She’s not the one with her legs on her blog’s masthead.
Meanwhile, here’s something to think about, Kim.
In how many ways does you face look like a crescent moon?
I think it is extraordinary the way it looks half like a moon, and half like a pug.
I wanted to call you Moonface, but that’s kinda childish, so how’s Moonpug? Nice touch to it.
Thank god you are in Malaysia, walking rash. I am presuming you are not invited to Cowboy’s wedding. God I hope not. How would we eat?
p/s: Your earrings look cheap, but guess it suits you. 🙂
p/p/s: I guess it is a consensus that MS and I look better than you, so you should really stop bringing attention to the looks arena. The last time I checked, this pic looks like a maid.
    p/p/p/s: Pug.

  129. Oh great, I just heard from a little bird that you are bonking ST.
    Are you?
Man, Kim, that’s really gross of you. The unidentified rash, and now ST? That’s one really ugly dude man, even I think you deserve slightly better.
p/s: How do people with underbites perform cunninlingus? Don’t their long chins get in the way? Oh, and the baldness. Oh god, the imagery is killing me.

  130. See laaa…while we Asian brothers fight amongst each other about religion and shit, the white man bonks our ladies.
No wonder they are the so superior.
And I didn’t know kimberlycun likes the white cock so much! 🙂

  131. I read through the whole comments section, and it seems that it has gone through a rather turbulent turn.
    Anyway, Kenny:
It’s not that we can’t tolerate the usage of our deity’s name in everyday context; now you are the one who is exaggerating greatly our sensitivity to the usage of our God’s name, Kenny.
Religious jokes and racial jokes that poke fun at the idiosyncracies of Islam, I feel, are okay, because it is all in the name of satire, but when one mentions explicitly the name of our God, and associates it with a plant, which is an inanimate creation of his, then I feel that the topic has changed towards being insulting.
This is because we respect our God’s name greatly, and we use with veneration. We revere His Name. And we do not, and never inject his name into jokes and satire. That would be blasphemous for us Muslims.
    However, you mentioned this:
“And if you can’t tolerate even the mere mention of your deity’s name, seriously don’t walk out the door, don’t watch CNN, as a matter of fact don’t even log onto the Internet. It’s a much, MUCH less politically-correct society out there.”
You’re making a sweeping generalization here, don’t you think? CNN and the media and all other news, biased as they are with regards to US policies, usually treat the name “Allah” with importance. And they definitely will not jest of it. So I don’t see your point of stating that we should not watch TV.
On the other hand, the Internet is flooding with scathing remarks that are overboard in insulting us Muslims. But they’re just being plain emotive, most of them. But Kenny, you’re an educated person, and you definitely can separate jesting with sensitive issues to being plain insulting.
And yes, I do agree with you that it is a matter of political correctness here. But if you’ve 5 years of political activitism in your hands, then you definitely can handle matters such as this with tact resolute, no? Not that I’m pointing towards anything, your stand is yours, and I fully respect it, as I would like it that you respect mine too. But you should be aware that others won’t be as tolerant as some of us.
And yes, I am still an avid reader of your site. (I’m subscribed to your RSS feed, dude, heh.)
    Wan Zafran

  132. XX cares about me so much, SHE MENTIONED ME TWICE IN HER COMMENTS!
Yay, I obviously hold a special place in her heart, underbite, male pattern baldness, the works.
Perhaps she just looks up to me, as she’s like 4’11 and I’m 6’5.LOLDONGZ!!
BTW XX, Jealousy is an ugly thing, don’t mention me again, or I might reduce you to a blubbering pile of tears that goes on ‘Hiatus’ again 😛 And well done on cribbing your best insults directed to me from your gibbering fanbois. Can’t come out with anything original eh?
Yeah I know I’m a mean, vile, vicious man with no good in his heart, blah blah.
Let’s all be ‘elite’ bloggers, it’s such a great career that brings satisfaction and a lifelong stream of work..
You Kenny and Mini make a great trio, I hope you 3 little pigs live happily ever after in your mutual admiration (and petty gossip) society.
And REALLY honey you shouldn’t criticise other people’s looks when there are ‘studio’ pictures of you that turn out like a short, slightly pudgy transvestite.
BTW Kenny, OMG 5 years of political work, your e-penar is huge, I’m so proud of you!
You must have done some great work in Australia..

  133. Hey kenny, you dont have to explain yourself if they dont get it. It’s not like you’re the one who photoshopped or used the name Allah In vain right? It’s just some link to some sites to lighten up. Well, that’s about it. Everyday people say OMG too.. that’s an insult to our GOD too you know, because you’re using His name in vain.
This post is very much fucked up le… hehe

  134. by the way kenny, you should moderate those racial abuse comments. or just remove it. if not you’ll get into big trouble.. seriously. Those racists should learn to get a brain and know when to stop.

  135. “Arguing on the internet is like running the special Olympics. Even if you win,
    you’re still retarded”
..no offence to anyone, least of all the special people..

  136. *gapes* How can just a simple comment go all out and turn into this? Sometimes I wonder why we are still a third world country. In times like this, I can see why. Can’t we just be a little bit tolerant towards things? Where our freedom of speech?
I know that religion is a very sensitive issue but then, think of it this way, he is not by any means condemning the religion. Don’t pinpoint just on certain things and forget about everything else.
While I think it is wrong to poke fun at religion, I wonder why the hoo hah is about the Allah Plant but not about the others that Kenny had posted…

  137. *wipes tears from eyes*
this comment section is the damn funniest I have read in a very long time
Special shout out to the Snark – although, of course, not always true. Luckily.

  138. KENNY…..U CAN SEE ENOUGH??……..STOP TALKING ABOUT MALAYSIAN MAJOR RELIGION.ITS LIKE TALK ABOUT UR MOM ASS INFRONT OF THE PUBLIC.

  139. i don’t get it. the post is in the context of problems arising from being politically correct about religiously- or ethnically-linked public terms and/or institutions. in that context, commenting – actually, by comparisons – on how absurd this will end up is nothing wrong, what.
focusing on sensitivities of this or that word is just a case of losing the plot, isn’t it?
(or, heh, maybe it’s precisely the point – if you’re willing to view all the comments so far as an exercise in absurdity; they’ve become their very own bit of social commentary)
as far as fears about what the authorities can do to you, however… well, what can anyone say? give some quarters an excuse to find offense, and they will. kenny sia should be prepared for the consequences, good or bad (and this is no threat or suggestion, in case it sounds like it).

  140. XX – who gave you the right to insult someone’s daughter when you are a daughter of your mother’s cibai as well.
Personal attacks are so not ons! Says SO much about your personality. Miss Weblog Winner. Now we know wat you are made off – slimey goo and shit pies.

  141. racist inciting or not, to all you anonymous cunts, please put your balls forward and not post anonymously.
its easy to talk behind a veil, no one sees your ugly faces, but its not so easy to have balls the size of coconuts and speak his mind knowing full well that everyone knows who he or she is.
i dont really like how kenny’s presenting his arguments, he does have some points, but his analogies could be a little more subtle, but it’s his opinion and i will respect that.
to all you mofos who love hiding behind your monitor, grow up. malaysia doesnt need idiots like you. you deserve to be raped in the ass by a donkey. and then an elephant. or maybe a nice fat pig or two.

  142. Hmmm… Very interesting blog for my first visit…
I wonder how will M’sia become a developed country when a lil phrase like “Allah Plant” enraged those IDIOTz~
    haih~
    Merry CHRISTmas!

  143. No educated and sane person would say the things that XiaXue said in the few comments here. Man, she stooped so low, filthy, twisted and sad. Disgusting. No wonder she is a complete turn off for any decent and well educated guy.

  144. I’m sure you guys know that Readers Digest have this joke section, and more often than not, you can find jokes with God/Jesus in it and some that pokes fun at Christianity. So why aren’t they in trouble huh? Why is it that when it comes to muslim, even just the word “Allah” can stir so much of a ruckus. LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE. Geez!

  145. Oh my goodness… am i the only one that read the actual blog post? Or did the rest of your read it with a stick up your arses? Why the sensitivity?
Point no. 1, he was making a point. Dig that!
Point no. 2, if you felt offended, don’t read it.
Point no. 3, if your God was offended, don’t worry, He is God… He is big enough to punish Kenny Sia Himself without your help right? I mean, He’s GOD?!? He doesn’t really need to you to fight for Him right?
Point no. 4, it’s Christmas seasons… seriously, it is! So, Paul Tan, Shaolin Tiger, Xia Xue, Suanie and all you other people with nothing else better to say… GO PICK YOUR FIGHTS SOMEWHERE ELSE!

  146. hey kenny. i don’t think you write enough “controversial” posts like this that piss off the pretentious fuckers who read your blog and make obnoxious holier-than-thou comments.
write what you want, post what you want to post; let them piss their pants in religious/political/moral/whatever furor. their reactions don’t concern you nor your coconuts.
and xiaxue … grow up. seriously.

  147. Hmm, since you did not coin the phrase, I understand why it is made like that then. It was made by an American. (Figures…)
So well, since you’re just a messenger here, guess who got shot 😀
For those who did not get it, I’ll say it again:
Kenny did not make up the term “Allah Plant”. Somebody in the US of A did.
By the way, this is for kim:
Buddhism is a religion, a philosophical one at that. But I agree that Buddha is not “god class”. He’s just one representative of many that cared to lead the mortals to attain nirvana.

  148. Here’s some political correctness for you:
[TEXT DELETED BY KENNY SIA: Once again the issue here is NOT race NOR religion. Don’t bring them into it. The issue here is oversensitivity when no harm is intended in the first place. In your case, you are deliberately trying to cause caustic and direct harm, and I cannot tolerate that. Not in my blog. ]

  149. Malaysia will never progress with all the racial profiling going around. Stop seeing ourselves as Malays, Chinese, Indians, Ibans or Kadazans and start seeing ourselves as Malaysians. Assuming that you are Malaysian. Better still, let’s all intermarry between different ethnic groups.
Anyway, the word Allah is not exclusive to Islam. Just because it is an Arabic word and that Islam originated from that region doesn’t give Islam to claim the word Allah for its own. Allah means God in Arabic. As a Christian, I can address the God I worship as Allah and I am sure He doesn’t mind. Allahu akbar!

  150. the comments on this page pretty much sums up the quality of the blog world on this side of the world. And based on this, and the sights from other blogs sceneries (xia xua, take note), the Best Asian Blog award is far from anything to shout about. (it was probably just to give face to Asians)
How are you going to fight for freedom of speech when you can’t even be decent with one another?

  151. Cool , wante my name to be here to, since everyone else name is there.
I think those who try to justify their religion
are just simply scared that what they believe is
not true. God needs no lawyer I would think.

  152. Hot damn you lot. XDD
I’m a muslim but I’m not offended about that tree at all. You guys who criticized this entry should open up your mind further. GROW UP.
This is why I said Malaysia will always be 3rd World country in terms of the way they think.

  153. I totally agree with Pride Red. I really don’t see why this post has provoked so many people. It’s just a joke but now it’s turned so ugly.
Kimberly: Buddism is a religion and my God is Buddha.

  154. Haha, I find it stupid that people just generalize and say that all muslims are offended by it. I’m more offended by the comments than Kenny’s post.
Missing the point, people. Missing the point.

  155. LOL!
The comments section is so ridiculously blown out of proportion to the point that it is freaking hilarious to read them ;p
P.S. Kenny, I still think your blog is way better than XX’s blog. I still don’t get how someone who just loves posting millions of pictures of her fake photo-shopped face win the best asian blogger award. JMHO, a bad representation of asian blogger to the rest of the world.

  156. Sholin Tiger Puki.XiaXue goes hiatus is because you gain support from we Malaysian after XiaXue dfamous post KL Sucks..neh neh this time round you won’t gizzle any support fizzy us. We realize you ang mo muther sucker puki ma.

  157. Back in high school, I was sitting next to this Good Christian Girl. One day, we received our assignments for the week, and upon looking at the questions involved I exclaimed “OH MY GOD!”
Good Christian Girl turned to me in shock and said “You just swore!”
Puzzled, I looked back at her and said “Noleh… I just said ‘Oh My God’. What you hear?”
“You swore again!” yelled the Good Christian Girl. “You use God’s name in vain.”
I cocked my eyebrows and said “But I’m not Christian.”
“Yes I know, but I feel offended that you insulted my God.”
“Har? I where got insult your God? Jesus!”
“You said Jesus’ name in vain!”

I’m gonna put my final words on this long pointless debate that seems to go round and round with no end.
I’m not a subscriber of the Christian faith. I’m not a subscriber of the Islamic faith.
I’m a subscriber of Astro. But that’s besides the point.
My point is, I believe in respecting one another’s religion. By that I mean I cannot tolerate inciting hatred, and I cannot tolerate saying things that intentionally cause hurt to one religion or race.
Example: “chinese guys have pencil dicks.”
However I also believe in tolerence that works both ways.
If I’m not a subscriber to your faith, am I expected to follow your way of life? Your code of ethics? Of course not.
For a non-Christian to follow the code of a Christian is as absurd as the Singaporean Court following Australia’s book of law!
If I don’t subscribe to Christianity, and I said words like “Oh My God”, which to the majority of the people is fine, then won’t you agree that my Good Christian Girl is guilty of over-reacting?
(Btw, some Christians I know do not masturbate and do not believe in the use of condoms because they believe semen should only be used for breeding babies, or else it’s murder. Lucky I don’t have to follow their way of life)
By the same token, I am not Muslim so if I use the word “Al**h” in vain, or rear a dog, or play 4D, which again to most people is fine, then am I in the wrong or are you being overly sensitive?
The point again and again is that this is NOT a racial NOR a religion issue. It is about accepting a reasonable level of political incorrectness. It is about you understanding me, me understanding you. It is about accepting the fact that not everyone is going the live the life you want them to live, and not everyone is going to say the words you want your ears to hear.
We have our differences, but we TOLERATE our differences. We don’t ask people to take down posts because you think it is not good eventhough most people are fine with it. Just like we don’t stop people from yelling over the microphone at 5am every single morning when most people are still in bed.
We TOLERATE it. And THAT, to me, is the key to harmony.
    End of discussion.

  158. Finally, Kenny you’re standing up for yourself. See, that’s what we should be seeing from you, unlike in the last 50 posts or so where you pretty much gave in to the loser commenters. See how your blog is so much more interesting now? See how the stars twinkle in the background now?

  159. Xiaxue: Girl’s blog
    Kenny: Guy’s blog
No more difference. Girl of course wanna post Photoshop of herself. Guy… well, maybe that’s why somebody’s saying Kenny’s gay 😀

  160. I agree with most of what Kenny has to say on his first reply to that ‘Dr’.
It’s JUST a post joking and making fun about how fickle some people are about this issue of saying ‘Merry Christmas’ in public… and naming a Christmas Tree as a fucking ‘Christmas Tree’ in public.
okay, the photo-shopped picture with the name ‘Allah Plant’ at the base of the christmas tree may be offensive to Muslims( those who can’t see the funny side of things), that I agree. I’m very sure that picture isn’t even remotely meant to offend Muslims.
so give the man a fucking break. those that are screwing kenny over this. Geez. PMS issit?

  161. I think TOLERANCE is the wrong word here. Tolerating people means that you would one day snap and get pissed with everybody else.
I would like to think that we Malaysians ACCEPT each other for who we are. Unfortunately, we both know that it doesn’t quite work that way.
    Merry Christmas..

  162. USE THE WORD ALLAH PLANT PLS. it’s notting offensive really, cos with that u can illustrate ur point better *wink*

  163. plants are from Allah says the al-Quran. a new zealand apple comes from new zealand. therefore, an Allah plant comes from Allah; so what’s so wrong with relating a creation to the creator?i’m frustrated with close-mindedness.stop.please.

  164. ALLAH ALLAH ALLAH ALLAH ALLAH ALLAH ALLAH ALLAH ALLAH ALLAH ALLAH ALLAH ALLAH ALLAH ALLAH ALLAH
    AAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
(now how’s that for using his name in vain?)

  165. Let’s go on the street and wishes the muslims gong xi fa cai during CNY and see if we get lock up by the ISA.
oversensitive dumbos. I don’t see why he should take down the photo when the blog is dedicated to himself at the first place. More importantly, there is nothing hilarious about the Allah plant thingy. He just put it there.
He renamed the tree and it is funny. And i enjoyed it. It is funny and i enjoyed it but that doesn’t mean that chinese is playing a fool with the yours’ truly allah. It is just the words. He is just fooling around with it and i don’t find it offensive.
It is not that he hang up a pig’s head on the tree and name it “Allah Plant”. The only thing that is hostile and that may get him into trouble would be the comments here.
Get a life, more education if it is mandatorily necessary. As the phrase goes, “Either you take it, or by god you leave it”.
    Merry Christmas.

  166. “plants are from Allah says the al-Quran. a new zealand apple comes from new zealand. therefore, an Allah plant comes from Allah; so what’s so wrong with relating a creation to the creator?i’m frustrated with close-mindedness.stop.please.
    mushroom”
Now that’s a point to ponder over.. lol

  167. m’sia is kind of belongs to them muslum so they can force u within m’sia by creating their own law but in the outside world where they cant use legal force by law, [RACIST COMMENT DELETED]

  168. Merry Christmas everybody!!

The Christmas tree in my apartment. It’s been up since Christmas 2004.:P It seems such a waste to take it down the day after Christmas. The only thing different about this year’s version is that there’s more sparklies. 😉 I…

  169. Merry Christmas! Suprise.. suprise.. some people are too dumb to get the joke.. but very smart at twisting kenny’s words.. For sake, try to read with open mind, dont jump to your own conclusion 🙂

  170. i am so surprised!!
read this blog when it was first day-up…didnt realized it would bring so much controversies later…i had burned my arses for nearly 4hours,reading all the comments.and Kenny, pls delete this comment,or u would get into trouble for having/allowing porn..rather than the post itself!
CHECK THIS PICTURE OUT! It is ST and Kimcun naked!!!
    here!!!
    Oh my GOD
Posted by: YOU MUST SEE THIS at December 23, 2005 02:24 AM
btw,i have an atheist friend who would say much crap… Much Much Much more worst than Kenny in his blog. but funny…he gets away with it… bcs he is after all… an atheist. i would scolded him if he is too much to take…and many of the time,he would modified his words-per se request…and from what i hv had personally learned from my dear atheist frens, malaysians people really need to talk more about sensitive issues freely… if we just keep it out off of our daily life…THIS IS WHAT WOULD HAPPENED!!!
for Kenny Sia.. i am on ur side, for now…^_^
    oh yea…being a saggy means- stubborn&ego maniac.believe me…bcs i am one of them.hehe.
Happy New Year to All! (this is more relevant for now, since the coming new year is for christians, chinese and muslims calendar-all pack in one month of the christian-greek calendar…happy now???)
    Sekian,Terima Kasih.

  171. Aren’t u guys too sensitive to this GOD word? If i saying Oh my GOD, the GOD i referring to is ur GOD?! Get real, if that was the case, GOD=ALLAH since the meaning is the same, now THAT would be serious case. I’ll bet neither islam or christian will happy about this.
True, buddist doesn’t have god, but the term “OH MY GOD” has already known for its meaning of u are freaking out, aren’t u guys(u know who m i refering to) trying to be childlish?
Something that i not very happy with cristian( not all of them),when we saying word like “GOD” in front of them, wow it’s like being insulting them, while their in other hand…saying us(buddist) worshiping “demon” when we praying our “doll”.
Took that as example, u saying us insulting ur religion, but think again, our “doll” is not related to buddist also, is from our CULTURE.
Scolding other ppl for not understand u but u never try NOT to understand them in the 1st place is already a insult, and yet u prouly say WE insulting u…=.=

  172. Haiyaa… you ppl are going off course lah.
    Really cant understand this laah.
This is not about being sensitive about the GOD word lah. Using the word GOD in vain lah bla bla bla ( Great GOD ! I have no idea why it boiled down into that ? )
    The real issue is
Kenny used the word Allah (GOD) Plant and put it together with Hanukkah Bush and Christmas Tree ( Holiday Tree ? ) which obviously refer to “festivities”.
    Look.
It is not about ” being sensitive with the word GOD “. Not even smell like it.
The REAL issue here is the comparison is just not right ! If Kenny would like to make reference to the Muslim then he should put instead ” Eid Mubarak Plant ” or ” Aidil Fitri Plant “, only then it would suit the equation.
If he insists to stay put, no one could do anything about it cuz he is the only administrator of this blog. Only GOD knows what is up in his mind !
Come on guys. Important thing is, don’t jump into silly conclusions lah.
    Fullstop.

  173. Leave Kenny alone, he has done nothing wrong. Stop being pious and trying to teach the world who the fark your GOD is.
To the Christian, preach to your Christian friends.
To the Muslim, preach to your muslim brothers and sister.
To all the religious fella out there, keep your teaching to yourselves, no need to announce to the world how well you upkeep your religion, others don’t give a fark.
    Cheers!

  174. He he
I think I want to comment on what Bro Kenny really wished to talk about. On this Christmas thingy.
In fact, Jesus was born on 17th April.
It has been proven by tonnes of archeological fact, historical events and even as tipped by the Bible itself !
At least that is what the internet and Nat Geo told me.
Celebrating the 25th Dec day is in fact a Pagan practice long before the arrival of Christianity.
The church decided to absorb such customs so that the natives would come to Christianity much easily. And they did !
Even in South America this days, the Indians keep mixing church activities with pagan rituals. And I saw that on Nat Geo too.. he he
Therefore, 25th Dec doesnt in fact an original Christian holiday. So I think that it would not be a problem to call the tree as Holiday Tree or Hanukkah Bush or even Allah Plant (!!?).
Even the “pine tree” ( read : Christmas Tree ) is not native to Bettlehem you see ! The tradition itself came from.. err Germany ? ( I read that somewhere )
So what they do in the US with “Christmas” is surely a GOOD thing !
    Happy HOLIDAYS guys !

  175. this may be kinda ignorant but all these comments on Allah & Christ & christmas & blahblahblah kinda solves why one decides to be/or is an atheist

  176. While bah is at it :

  177. hey, to all my Muslim brothers out there, i understand your concerns over the “Allah plant”. I myself being a Muslim am quite concerned with how the analogy might affect Muslim readers. To my brothers, i think it is our duty to inform less informed/ignorant people on the misconceptions and somewhat controversial remarks they have/make towards our religion. However, being overly demanding, to the extent of sparking an argument is just a shot in the foot for Muslims collectively. As we wish for others to understand and be open towards our religion, we must also appreciate others’ opinions and comments. This is a free world and we all have a decent level of freedom in terms of speech. Complaining to the papers and to Muslim organisations gives the wrong impression of us Muslims to be overlysensitive (although this might not be the case) and this does not portray a bad image unto the “complainer” but of the Muslim collective. Honestly, i urge you to inform others of their mistakes and misconceptions, unbeknownst to them or not, yet at the same time respect what they have to say, seditious, racist, or out of pure jest.
Kenny man, i love your blog. I’m not taking sides with anybody here just that i think the freedom of speech and opinion is something that I as a Singaporean cannot really express, due to the political (eep.) and social (friends la) repercussions. I do hope that you see that the world needs political correctness to stay in an equilibrium. Racial/Religious harmony exists, in my opinion, not through tolerance and understanding, but through being politically correct, minding every P and Q. But, we need more of people like you. Cheers.

  178. Goodness……. the wars this has set off will equal the Crusades. Really it’s alarming.
Regarding your post about the ‘Good Christian Girl’ thing, Kenny, I’m a Christian and I didn’t really like it. But let’s face it – tolerance is a key point, and hey Muslim people, PLEASE, let up a bit on the matter of ‘Allah’.
My best friend is a Malay and a Muslim and in the few conversations we’ve conducted about the differences between her beliefs and mine, the thing is this – God and Allah, whichever, whatever, are JUST GENERAL NAMES. Now if you named that tree the ‘Lord Jesus Christ Larch’, then I’d be seriously offended. But you can call it the ‘God Greenery’ and I wouldn’t give half a penny for it. Similarly ‘Allah’ is general.
Don’t let a general term turn personal with you, guyz. I have many Malay Muslim friends and they regularly say ‘Oh God’ and ‘Oh my God’ in front of me. I don’t get mad or irritated. One of ’em even said ‘Oh for Christ’s sakes!!!!!’ in front of me and I just kept quiet about it.
So stop attacking Kenny, stop the silly arguments that are beginning to curiously resemble the Crusades, and instead, enjoy Christmas, or Holiday Season, whichever suits your taste.
P.S. As a Christian I’ll take advantage of the massive readers’ crowd of this blog, to wish all my brothers and sisters in Christ, Merry Christmas. Hope you get lotsa presents too. 😉

  179. I beg to differ, Deist.
As an atheist, I find myself with far more purpose and drive than I ever had when I had a religion. In times of great peril, the atheist can fight harder, longer and with more determination without need for distracting prayers, since he/she knows that there is NO ONE out there looking out for him/her, and that success or failure is entirely dependent on him/her and his/her skills and abilities.
Furthermore, we enjoy the fact that all our successes didn’t have someone out there messing around with our results. When we enjoy success, our success is that of good hard work, determination and skill, not the whims of an imaginary friend.
We also enjoy the mental freedom of being able to think and rationalise freely, without dogma forcing our hand. Our morality is determined by human rights, and a moral atheist is a person who can trust with your life, since he/she might have forsaken a more profitable path (eg. not returning a found wallet) because of purely humanistic reasons, as opposed to the hardcore theist who is driven by fear of hell and the all-seeing eye, and whose every good action may just be a selfish bet at the gambling table to heaven.
Finally, on a more pragmatic level, an atheist loses all fear of the supernatural. The mind becomes tuned to such a fine cutting edge of rationality that the blade slays zombie, ghost and poitergeist alike while the less well-tuned quail in fear at every gust in a graveyard. No fear… simply because they don’t exist. Yet, we still enjoy the ability to turn rationality off, for the moments when we want to get misty eyed without the sword of reason getting in the way (eg. watching Corpse Bride, anyone?).
Security, certainty and comfort? Sure… we get all we need in the mortal world with self-defence skills, good situational awareness and/or a good police force.
And when we finally kick the bucket… Who cares about security, certainty and comfort anymore? Hell, we’re dead!

  180. I love Allah and Jesus Christ.
PLEASE, let up a bit on the matter of ‘Allah’.

–>NO.any matter that got Allah in it,are a serious matter and can NEVER be let up even a bit.
    but since Allah Plant means:
“plants are from Allah says the al-Quran. a new zealand apple comes from new zealand. therefore, an Allah plant comes from Allah; so what’s so wrong with relating a creation to the creator?”

i have been thru Kenny’s situation before…saying “Oh My God!” and few of my good christian friends turned to looked at me…as if i had said some insulting words..
i never know that OMG belongs to the Christians? since when??
i have a good Christian friend who read indonesian bible which the God was actually translated as Allah.now, should muslims be angry to them for translating such Holy word, using muslims’ Allah as theirs’ Allah?
i dont think so…bcs as far as i am concerned…Allah or God,didnt belong to anyone.
a hindu friend of mine used to said this wise words- we are just praying differently…but to the same ONE God.
    PEACE!

  181. Nikita, no personal attack on you, seriously. But then again, Allah is a general name. IF, and IF Kenny had used the term ‘Allah S.W.T.’ (Sorry, not sure what S.W.T. means but I believe it has a more personal reference to Allah) then it would be offensive. But you yourself, Nikita, have mentioned that Allah is a term that refers to the God that my people, as Christians, pray to, and the God that my Muslim friends pray to, that my Catholic friends pray to. So it is extremely general in that case. Does that mean we Christians, Muslims, Catholics, Jews and all other monotheistic people across the globe should take offense?
I don’t think so. Being a general term, it is open to use by the general public, and yes, to you Kenny, I say this: You were giving a bit of irreverent humour about religion. BUT, humour is humour, and Kenny’s humour consisting of a general word, ‘Allah’, i.e. ‘God’ in the Arabic language, and furthermore being made in the lighthearted spirit of Christmas and the holiday season, I do not see why it should be causing such a commotion and offend so many people. Why take needless offense at a piece of irreverent humour?
There is a narrow line between being a devout follower of your belief, and being a fanatic of your belief. Again, I am NOT saying you’re a fanatic, Nikita. I admire your devotion to your faith, because I share a similarly deep devotion to my own faith. But I hope we all will not, due to a joke made in a blog, turn from being good devoted believers, into angry, hateful fanatics. I don’t treat EVERY utterance of ‘Oh my God’ as a weighty matter requiring immediate and important attention.
Let’s all have the spirit of peace in us……. especially since Christmas-New Year season SHOULD be a season of light, happiness, joy and peace. As in ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’, it goes,
    Hark the herald angels sing,
    Glory to the newborn king,
PEACE ON EARTH AND MERCY MILD,
    God and sinners reconciled.
So, let’s try to direct this comment section towards the theme of ‘Peace on Earth and mercy mild’ rather than ‘Hell on Earth and murder wild’. Ok??? 😉

  182. “have mentioned that Allah is a term that refers to the God that my people, as Christians, pray to, and the God that my Muslim friends pray to, that my Catholic friends pray to”
    yes.in this context,Allah is universal.
But in Kenny Sia’s,he is referring it to muslims’ God only, since he is comparing it with the Jewish’s Hanukkah and Christian’s Christmas..(semitic religions)thats how me and others see it.cant u see it,Hans@Arthas?
anyone can pray to God.but NO ONE should insult in the name of God-whether ur own or other’s religions.
    the case is different.
and,if someone were to say “Ya,Allah” or “Oh My God”…we should feel grateful bcs they are remembering God.why should we all be angry and feel annoyed? (i really cant understand this..)
we should only be angry when someone using the name of God in jokes.right?
why the Other way round that had happened(here or anywhere)??!

  183. Kenny, writing from the (relative) safety of the US, I must say you have testicles the size of coconuts

  184. LOL. Really, get a life people. Blogs are meant for us to read, had a good laugh and then get over it.
Please, don’t underutilise your brain power to that size of a peanut just because it offended you. You are living in a world that has more than 6 billion people.
It is superbly difficult for us not to offend any living person on Earth. Yeah, so bugger off TO have a good Christmas and New Year!

  185. Seriously what’s so offensive about Allah plant? If the world is created by Allah, then everything in this world is essentially his. So Allah plant, Allah tree, Allah flower, Allah fish… etc just means they are all Allah’s creation. What is so offensive??
EVEN IF that phrase ‘Allah plant’ is offensive (to some of the Muslims), Kenny is NOT the one who coined it!! He just happened to put it in his blog for you people to see. Otherwise, you guys might be still ignorant about this phrase.
FOR EXAMPLE, if a group of fanatic Islamic militants started calling themselves Allah’s Army (there may actually already be a few, can’t be sure) & bombed a few cities and Kenny happened to blog about it, is he being insensitive? I mean, he did mention the phrase “Allah’s Army” in his blog right? Or that would just be headline news so it’s ok?
    Come on people!
Must look at the INTENTION of the blogger. Is he trying to be racist? OF COURSE NOT.
So pls take a chill pill, guys.

  186. umm..
its some misunderstanding due to ignorance. to us muslims, Allah is not JUST another word for god. call a someone ‘girl’ as opposed to her name eg ‘Rachel’ significantly changes the meaning. when you say GOD, you refer to whichever supreme being, but when you say Allah, you are refering PARTICULARLY to the Muslim god.
its no big thing for several people to misunderstand and thus comment here. when you, at all, mention something which is considered taboo to most communities ie religion, comments such as this should be expected. kenny, you for one should not say that we as a muslim country tolerant blah this that and take it back. you should still believe that Malaysia IS A TOLERANT COUNTRY COMPARED TO U.S (ETC) DESPITE WHAT YOU SEE ON THIS PAGE. its just that when you speak of religion, its is a provocative matter. but it doesnt mean we should think less of those who feel offended. as a malaysian top blogger, you should be obliged to think positive of your own country and accept all comments, especially when you post on a sensitive topic. religion is a ‘tak boleh’ subject (marina mahathir), however peacefully you talk about it.
yet, we wont have your page absolutely devoid of offence, because thats the cili padi of this blog. i simply hope that you, kenny, would look at things more positively. the only upsetting part of your post in my point of view is the ending, where you strikeout those words to be replaced with a dissapointed comment. dont look at it the negative way. because we dont want our prime satirist to give up on our nation and its people.

  187. (Sing to the tune of Bengawan Solo):
    Benggali One So Loong
    Melayu One Potoong
Cina One Look Like Lap Cheong
    India One Like Sotoong

  188. what ur saying in defense of why ur sticking to ur guns is beside the point.
the whole controversy should be, more than anything, an issue about respect. you even mentioned this yourself in the comments section ‘respect, but tolerate.’
so how is the fact tht you, stubbornly insisting on posting up the pic tht was deemed offensive by some muslims, are being respectful? esp when some readers have so kindly and patiently asked you to take it down.
you have to respect yourself first kenny, before you respect ppl.
so have a little self respect and do what is right. being in a democratic country does not mean one have to sacrifice their self worth and respect for one another. whats the point of advocating for a democratic country if it simply means the ppl will have less respect for each other and diminished self worth by making deragotary comments about each other? and about the whole americans/omg’s issue – just because others stoop tht low, doesnt mean you should too.

  189. FUCK-lah you guys must have a lot of time to do all the quarelling, plus the kimberly and xx oso got time to fight here?
    FULL TIME BLOGGER.
Oh DAMN DAMN DAMN I forgot you guys are full time blogger.
No wonder got so many time to fight plus put so many comments some more.
    TO KENNY:
I CHEERS when you get caught by the police/your blog is in Harian Metro.
I CRIES if you stop blogging.
So? Go figure la. You have 5 years of so-called academic credentials anyway.

  190. And is it true that Kimberly and ST is having some kind of sexual affair?
No wonder they are close with each other. Everytime somebody whack Kimberly ST sure will cover up for her. Sigh.
I don’t mind that you guys are together/fucks/sleep/blablabla but at least make it discreet can or not?
Now the whole world know that you guys are sexual partners. Sigh.

  191. hey. I’m currently studying in the US and I just took Political science in my latest semester at my university.
I remember my professor telling me that in america, freedom of religion is guranteed by two clauses : the establisment clause (gov cannot declare an official religion) and the free exercise clause (free exercise of religion unless it becomes too extreme, etc)
I’m actually reading my class notes right now.
My professor also mentioned about the Lemon test (funny name, I know) and it is used to test the establishment of religion. It comes in 3 parts.
    1. Secular – Gov cannot declare an official religion
    2. Favor – It can’t favor one side or another
    3. Mix – Gov and religion cannot mix
Establishment of a religion is when you impose religious acts on other people. So in this case, I think that by using the word christmas, it imposes christian beliefs to non chrsitians.
I know it’s a small matter.. but this kinda thing is already written in the US constitution (or was it the bill of rights? hmm..) Anyway, you can’t violate the clause or the test, so the american gov has to replace “merry christmas” with “happy holidays” etc
I personally don’t think it’s more of a 1 religion vs another. It’s political science.

  192. Fai, you are talking cock leh.
Kenny must take down the photo just because some Muslims want it removed?? How about those other Muslims that DON’T find it offensive? Why must one Muslim’s opinion be more important than another Muslim?
Everything should remain status quo. Except fai who must go n find back his own self-worth & self-respect. Joking..joking..

  193. so i guess if somebody was making an insensitive joke tht others found funny and inoffensive, tht makes it right for you?
lets turn the table around and look at the whole elton john’s gay marriage issue. a lot of ppl dont agree with gay marriage and proceed to make a joke out of it. its still a mean thing to do, its not right, but because the gay community is in the minority then its okay?

  194. Yo fai but surely you can’t possibly have 100% consensus from the readers. Definitely there will be some who disagree with whatever blog kenny writes. So how to operate like that? Anytime if at least one member of the public feels offended then he delete the entry? Cannot what.
    Peace

  195. I hate your Allah!
    I love my Allah!
But, why you make me listening to your prayer to your Allah in the dawn while I’m happily meeting my Allah?! 😛

  196. Luv_my_Allah:
i dont believe anybody is ‘making’ you listen to the prayer at dawn or any other time. you’re living in Malaysia with Islam as the official religion, it is only normal and i’m dissappointed tht you have made such an insensitive remark about other people’s religion. if it bothers you tht much why not move to someplace where a mosque isnt nearby? churches ring the bells too at Sunday Mass for example. ppl celebrating thaipusam etc recite their mantra. malaysia have plenty of different cultures in her, but malaysians are a lucky lot because most of her citizens are tolerant and respectful of each other, unlike what you have implied yourself to be.
to leo and zebby – i suppose i was wrong then to assume tht everyone who blogs (especially those who have such a big following) should practice respectable writing and refrain themselves frm making sensitive remarks be it about race, sex, politics, or religion (even more so since we live in a multicultural society). there are a lot of ways to deliver a point, why pick the offensive? and do you really believe tht you wouldnt react in the same way had someone offended your God? arent you lucky tht Kenny hadnt then. but what if one day he does? (im not saying tht he will here).
and by the way zebby, i didnt say tht kenny should delete an entry whenever ‘at least one member of the public feels offended’. two wrongs dont make it right. as i had pointed out the earlier comments made by other offended readers were quite justified and respectfully worded. if its justified then why not?
more importantly, what is the point of stubbornly refusing to do so? what is he trying to prove? at the end of the day everyone would be happier and all this tussle wouldnt have happened if kenny were a bit more thoughtful of what his readers would think.
but thank you very much for sharing your thought on my comment, though i have to say i still stand beside my point. so lets agree to disagree then 🙂
    happy new year.

  197. …I can’t believe this. Why are you guys getting heated up over a friggin’ TREE? It is just a TREE and a joke name. Why get so worked up over a plant??? 🙁

  198. hello n hi….
this whole tree thingy has been overrated and all.
    Kenny,
First of all, all of us are able to accept any form of joke, it’s just that when it comes to Allah, we can’t, we just can’t.
Second,it’s not that some of us want you to pay for what you have written and shared about the plant joke, but to some of us, it is very sensitive.
Third, the whole issue is just about the name, yes to you and other fellow readers, but to me and some out there, it’s not just a name, it is sacred.
Again, some of us are not making a big fuss about it, but, it’s very sensitive. However, should you need to write, merely an advice, write sensitively.
I would say, us Malaysians (am not representing), we are still culturally and religiously sensitive.
In addition, blogging for you is a freedom, yes it is and I enjoy every bit of it, just remind yourself, we’re still sensitive about these issues.
I do hope you continue what you have been doing and making me and some entertained in your whole expressionism.
    Till then, keep on blogging…..

  199. PorkisAwesome: You’re such a dumbass. Allah means God. If your Christian, or a Jew… Who the fuck do you think you’re praying to? All Abrahamic religions praise the same God, you jackass. Allah is God. God is Allah.
If you’re too ignorant to know what Abrahamic religion is, then fuck you la, you ass-backward-hick!

  200. ive just come across a post worth my 2cents 🙂
well, first of all, im a christian. and frm previous comments, Allah means God and if you do believe in God, then you believe in Allah too. No difference there. So if Kenny were to put “Allah plant”, then yea i might feel offended by that, but im NOT. because the whole point of his post was to state how ridiculous it is that in the states, ppl are not allowed to use the word christmas no more.
Correct me if im wrong, but Kenny did not say something like “Allah-motherfuckin-plant”, coz by all means if he were to say dat, then i’ll surely be all pissed n shit.
Maybe his only mistake is to think dat the word Allah is only used by the muslims, when it is actually an arabian word which means God. Its the same think as Tuhan. And dats y he link Allah plant to the muslims. but i really dont think he offended us in any way.
Not only the muslims are given the right to use the word Allah..it can be used by any religion who prays n worship God. So c’mon ppl, i suggest u re-read the post again and get the whole meaning of the post and y it is written in the first place. no need to get overly-sensitive and make this into one big issue.

  201. for God’s sake, stop associating islam with terrorism. there is no such thing as promotion of terrorism in the islamic book. u dweebs should understand the sensitivity of religion.

  202. There’s nothing more insulting to me than having to abide by laws of religions that has got NOTHING to do with me what so ever.
Is it possible for Islam to accept free speech and press? Is Islam a class above any other religion that accepts no criticsms and ridicule what so ever? I find this to be really offending. Why is it that Islamic extremists are free to use words like ‘infidels’ and ‘pigs’ like it’s an adjective for their every sentence spoken and are hailed as heroes by muslim fanatics worldwide? Do you see non-muslim communities going angry-frenzy? What about all those video tapes instructing all Islamic brothers to wage Jihad and war against the so called infidels?
The thing is, I am able to tolerate comments like those because I UNDERSTAND these are not the views of ALL MUSLIMS.
Just because of a simple joke using the term “Allah plant” which was not even coined by Kenny himself, comments JUST HAD to be made regarding how insulted you guys are.
Seriously. Get over it. You guys spoil everything that is fun. Try and get a broader view of the world and not confine yourselves to the four walls of your mosques. There are way more life out there than you think you know. Getting pissed over such subtle matters are just not worth it.
Kenny, just keep on doing what you’re doing. You can never please everyone.

  204. those who say they are not hypocrites are hypocrites.
If you really respect and love your religion, you will not be hurling insults or calling Kenny Sia names just because of what he said. That is not good because it causes discomfort which may lead to conflict. There will be no peace. So, if you really love God like you claim, then stop the fighting because it makes him sad. Fighting is not taught in a religion. If you really think Kenny is wrong, then you pray for him. Pray for yourself too so that you can control your anger. Anger can cause people harm. Forgive him if you think that he has wronged you. If you cannot do that, who are you to talk about religion and respecting God? You have already violated His commands.
