Short Talk:
Goodbye to watching football. See you again in 4 years.
In a way, I'm kinda glad that the World Cup is finally over. At least now there should be some normality restored in my life.
Signs You're Suffering From World Cup Withdrawal Symptoms
The World Cup's over but are you still feeling the football fever? Here are top 9 signs you might be suffering from World Cup Withdrawal Symptoms.
9. You wake up for no reason at all at 3am, feeling as if you should be doing something instead of sleeping.

8. You log on to "sport bookie online" to check out today's odds, but got annoyed when the matches shown are all by teams no one has ever heard of like "Dynamo Moscow" or "Ajax Amsterdam". What is this... some kinda detergent joke?

7. When your boss or lecturer explained something to you that you don't understand, you said to him "Sir! You keep on talking but I'm like that French goalkeeper. Catch no ball!"

6. You order Swedish Meatballs from IKEA, and you said to the waiter "I take Sweden, you give me half ball."

5. You go for Thai massage, and you told the masseuse "I take Thailand, I give you two balls."
4. When you're faced with a great difficulty in life, you find yourself deeply pondering"Hmmm... what would Shebby do in this situation?"

3. If something's blocking your way, you don't walk over it like you should.

You DIVE over it like Superman.

2. When your friend gives you a friendly pat on the back, you don't just look and smile at him.

You fall down dramatically, clutch your knee and cry like a bitch.

"Owww.... Pain! Pain!"
1. When someone said something mean against you, you don't just walk away.

You headbutt him right in the chest.
Now that Zidane's retired, at least he can find comfort knowing that he could always work as a Shaolin Monk, headbutting every single friggin thing out of his way.

i guess Zidane thinks he has done it all.. except one thing that in his career or anybody else's career they can never acheive.. getting red carded on purpose during a finals to a World Cup game that they could potientially win if they had him on the team and the whole nation is counting on him..i mean, like Maradona,Pele all this people can never have done it.. Zidane did it..This should go down in the books of record.

Zizou did it because Materazzi had been harrassing him throughout the match and he lost his cool when Materrazzi pinched his nipple and called him a "terrorist" as Zidane walked away.
Zidane had a mad streak in him and had been known to exercise some violence against offending opponents. Well I am sure if Materrazzi did not provoke him, nothing would have happen.
Zidane should also understand this is his last match and just take thing easy. Shout back some choice words at Matarrazzi or pinch his ass while the referee is not looking and let it be.

Zidane maybe shouldn't have done it.. but being abused on account of his race in such a manner IS kind of hard to put up with. Still, like I say, maybe he should have been as thick skinned as *you*, this being the World cup and all that.
BTW, Kenny, you must be dreaming to think that this is all over for the next 4 years. They broadcast the European Cup live on Astro too...

Though I have been supporting Italy yet I think Materazzi is a piece of shit! He deserves sthg more than just a headbutt!! Poor thing for getting a red card in his farewell match! If he wasn't given with a red card, the French has higher possibility in winning the match.
Poor French..

Football fever's not over, not by miles. Here are 3 simple reasons why:
1. For the next few days the whole world will be talking about Zizou's headbutt, speculating what 'Ma De Nazi' said to piss Zizou off.
2. During the next few weeks there'll be plenty of transfer speculation involving players from top clubs, eg. Man Utd (Chrisissygay Ronalpuss, Van Nistelrooy), etc.
3. Before you know it the Premier League season would have started, along with Serie A, Primera Liga, Bundesliga, Champions League, UEFA Cup, FA Cup, League Cup, Scottish Premier League, A-League, J-League, K-League, S-League, M-League, Similan Island League!!!
OK, scratch the last few leagues, but my point is, there's still plenty more football to come, and I can't bloody wait.

I read blogs and forums too. Most people label Portuguese as thugs and cheaters. Most bashing for Italy came from French-supporters as well. Let's face it. Every team has their fair share of supporters and haters. Henry and Malouda dived but didn't need to whine coz they admittedly were much better divers who managed to con them into penalties! France couldn't score from open-play both in semi and the final. If not because of the dives, who knows, maybe the semis might have gone into penalty kicks and the thugs team might've ended up in the Final instead? Everyone who watches Arsenal games know Henry is a renowned diver as well. To have the skills he has, he still need to dive, and that's not a shame???

Sipek sien la France didn't win. Ugh. Zidane is another idiot, so temperamental. I heard the stupid Italian mofo insulted his Algerian immigrant parents/mother...and the mofo (of course) denied it later on. I guess only comments like these are enough to spark fire. I say the Italians planned it. And I also say theitalian mofo pretended to fall down and be more hurt than he actually was...
Don't mind me, just my 2 cents.

i agree that italy doesnt deserve the Cup of Life. they have a tradition of poor sportsmanship and violence. everyone from the team to the fans to the club management are always embroiled in some controversy.
lets start with the fans. italian fans in serie a are known to be the most racist. nazi salutes and fan violence happens every week. many clubs including intermilan and juventus have been banned and fined heavily because of their fans' behaviours. racist and violence sums up the italian ultras. even the germans are embarassed of their nazi roots.
italian players are known to play very dirty. what's worst, they manipulate and make use of the laws to their advantage. elbows, provocation, racist remarks, poor sportsmanship.. the italians are best for this. they make opponents hate them, then take advantage when they're most weakest. on the field, fighitng among players are almost mandatory. roma v juv always results in mass player brawls.
now at the top level. i believe most of you already know about the serie a match fixing scandal. potentially 4 clubs will be relegated for bribes and match fixing. what can i say, even exec ppl at the top are playing dirty. 3/4 of the first 11 world cup winning team will potentially be clubless in the next coming weeks.
regarding the zz v materazzi, even materazzi admits he insulted zz. now now, i know italian fans are gonna come to his def saying its part of the game. but zz is only human, he has limits to how much insult he can takes too. i don't blame him for defending himself. he knows his mistakes and is taking the heat quietly.
all i can say italians are a dirty lot. every facet of italian football is embroiled in controversy. and at the end of the day, i always believe in karma. karma will hit u back when u least expect it. don't gloat about your achievements today, u will never know wat might happen in the future.
but anyway, i do agree that canavarro and buffon are the best players in their position during the WC - def n GK. zz will always be remembered for his brilliance in mid. not many can juggle the ball over ronaldinho. remember that.

You are rather IGNORANT when making jokes about Ajax Amsterdam. Ajax is quite a well known dutch football club and they had won the european champions cup before well back in the 70s.

it is the diving n the whining that makes the match muc more interesting. id rather watch italy n portugal do wat they do best thn watch any of england's matches. and damnit the final match was fixed. whr gt penalty so early one n whr gt offside for the second half goal by italy. knnccb.

As for the head butt - must be a reason to it.
Well at least the Italian now admits he insulted him..
Sigh...and just when football became intresting, some fancy gooodlooking italian has to spoil it for a legend..

I find Zidane's headbutt to have been quite justified - Materazzi did tweak his nipples earlier on in the game. Besides that, the insults that Materazzi threw at Zidane were reportedly along the lines of "you are a lower than a piece of shit", "your sister is a prostitute", and "son of a terrorist whore". This last insult hit home the hardest due to the fact that Zidane's mother was that very day in the hospital due to illnesses. Of course, there was no way for Materazzi to have known this, but it was nevertheless a low blow and in my opinion justifies Zidane's actions. After all, everyone has their breaking point.
Thanks for the effort on the posts Kenny, s'great laughs hereabouts.

Chris man, you missed the point again, it is not about wheather the french or the others are divers, you have mistook my comments as pro french. The italians are the worst of all these cheats, not to mention the scumbag racist personified by this despictable Materazzi. There are videos on youtube dedicated to the low life acts of materazzi. If FIFA is promoting tolerance and against racial discrimination, act on this kinda bullshit.
I am heading to Italy in September and I am gonna spit on their famous landmarks.
you are wrong, the bashing on italians come from all around the world, most of all from aussies bcos they lost to a dive.
Posted by: antimaterazzi at 12 July 2006 1:06 AM | Link to comment
Correct. My bad. Bashings for Italians do come from all the Australian supporters (except for myself, I was rooting for the Aussies in that match believe it or not :P), German supporters, as well as some England supporters who could not believe Italy won the Cup when England had more stars in their team ;)
Yes, whatever Materazzi said is not something to be proud of at all, but as of now, the real contents of his words remain a speculation (lip-readers and translators? Ermm...). Yes, Zidane is a great footballer, but many are also forgetting that Zidane had always have a mean streak in him too. Just remember that Zidane's back was facing the camera and no one knows what he said at that time too. No, I'm not trying to take sides here, but I'm rather annoyed at how everyone willingly jumps in to back Zidane when everything is still in speculation.
The most ridiculous comment I've read so far being one coming from a French supporter who said Italy should be stripped of their World Cup and France crowned the champions instead. If Materazzi did make a racist comment, by all means, ban him from football for life or even strip him of his medal, but to punish the whole team? What did Cannavaro do to deserve that kind of comment then? Also, if one "unjust" outcome means the winners of the match should be stripped of their win, then shouldn't the WHOLE World Cup be replayed again?
If it was someone else who was involved in the headbutt instead, I'm almost 100% certain that this would not have been so talked about at all.

chris, i understand you're neutrality on this issue. but yu have shown one serious flaw, your lack of knowledge of football, FIFA rules, and past history/incidences.
i'll give u a quote for the materazzi incident:
"On July 11, 2006, FIFA declared its intent to officially investigate the incident. It has been speculated in the German press, that the non-discrimination provision which FIFA adopted for its disciplinary code on 28 March 2006 may lead to the FIFA Executive Committee imposing harsh sanctions on Materazzi and/or the Italian side, up to and including disallowing Italy's team the World Cup victory if Materazzi is found to have insulted Zidane with racial slurs."
in my opinion, i doubt they'll be stripped of the cup, but i do hope that justice will be served. football is about football not thrash-talking and dirty tactics. and right now, the italians are the most hated team to ever win the cup in modern history. they don't deserve it. a winning 11 who will be clubless in the coming weeks just further proves the scandals and cheats the italians are always in.

chris, i understand you're neutrality on this issue. but yu have shown one serious flaw, your lack of knowledge of football, FIFA rules, and past history/incidences.

Thanks for showing me the quote anon, but I've already read that FIFA statement before I commented ;). I don't only watch football every 4 years like our mr.blogger here hehe :P.
What I was trying to say is, I don't agree with that kind of punishment on a team, based on one idiot's action. Be it Italian or any other team. Whatever match-fixing scandals the Italians have in their domestic league, they are already being dealt with. Unless of course, if they actually fixed the WC Final too!!! :)

your blog are so funny that it just brightens my day =)
Seriously, Zidane can really be a shaolin monk. Although i was hoping italy will win, after seeing the news about materazzi, i don't know what to say...this year's world cup seems to be very controversial...
